  1. I've been thinking about buying one of the old Deps 175s on eBay and having a someone who does custom jobs repaint it. I guess the first question, having never handled a Deps before, is would that even work? Can he body hold a new paint job? The second question is what color. I've been leaning toward carp or something similar since I'll prob be using it a lot in ponds. Thanks
  2. Is the XH going to have any noticeable downside when throwing hard baits with treble hooks?
  3. I'm a big fan of the weedless shad, but it's becoming hard to find them. Are there any suggestions for alternative but similar small swimbaits? In retrieve style, size, etc
  4. I caught this and managed to have a broken scale, and a ruler that wouldn't bend to get a girth measurement. The fish was 22 3/4 inches long. Any educated guesses on girth or weight? Guess it's time to pony up for something other than a $10 scale. Thanks for the help
  5. I'm going to be fishing some deep, clear (visibility down to 15-20 ft), water areas with grass along the bottom. I've had some success reeling a Hudd weedless shad over the top of the grass, but I'm looking for other ideas to try. Are there other weedless swimbait options besides Huddlestons? Soft plastics are tough because using a bullet weight texas rig gets it caught up in the weeds too much for my taste. Thanks for the help!
  6. I've decided that my next swimbait purchase is going to be a 9" Slammer, but the color decision is really giving me trouble. I'm mostly going to be fishing strip pits in KY that range from really clear to slightly murky. Some have shad, but all seem to have a bunch of bluegill available (though my hardgill floater isn't doing very well so far so who knows). I was planning on just getting the baby bass version, but then I read suggestions about getting trout colors because they work anywhere. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
  7. I'd like to get a Huddleston 6" in baby bass, one of the Mattlures bluegill, and a jointed rat bait. Is it worth saving a bit more to get a hardgill or would a floating U2 be ok?
  8. Been looking at TW, and I'm not sure if I should buy a floating Mattlures bluegill/Floating Huddleston or just buy a sinking version of those two and buy something like a Lucky Craft Sammy for topwater. Any opinions?
  9. Thanks guys. I never would have thought anything about it, but somebody saw the pic and said it could have been a spotted bass. As I said, I had no idea how to tell the difference at the time so I figured I'd ask.
  10. Which ones are considered quality?
  11. Posted my first outing with the new Spro BBZ-1 in fishing reports. Good day! http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/126141-first-outing-with-a-swimbait/
  12. Ended up with a pretty good morning. Caught a 3.4, a 3.9, and the crazy part, a 7.4 lb catfish. Can't say I've ever had a big catfish hit a bait I'm waking across the top.
  13. So, spots have more of a dispersed/diffused lateral line?
  14. I can never seem to figure out how to tell the difference (even though I've researched it). Don't remember what the tongue was like unfortunately
  15. I thought Swimbait City had them available
