Fish feel pain?????
I agree that most likely they do not feel pain in their mouths' but i do feel if you gut hook a bass at the least, it does feel uncomfortable, i do feel guilty ever once in awhile that they might feel pain or if a bass is bleeding, but i do my best to get all of the hook out, return them as normal as possible, and as quickly as possible so theres the least amount of stress on the bass, but regardless id still be fishing, i even try to make feelow anglers in ny look better for example the ones who leave their garbage scattered near the boat launches, i pick it up and discard of the trash properly, if we do have the privledge to fish then might as well protect mother nature and watch out for her

Goin fishin in an hour just noticed something QUES
I personally have noticed that in the bigger lakes as well, the fish go on a frenzy before the storms arrive, espcially on the edge of weeds that are deeper but excessible to shallow water, i guess mother nature tells animals that they should fuel up before hand or else they might be hungry util however long the bad weather lasts, just my .02

Match Fishing Update
Yeah i saw the episode and liked the whole premise of the show except for how swindle cried alot, it really is exciting, how long has it been going on for? i think i heard it started last year, who win if thats the case? i really like swindle but sometimes enough is enough, what i couldnt stand was that fact he explained he's a power fishermen and how luke wasnt, stop whinning all of us amateurs change our styles up if we have to, or if theres no bite on the regular way we fish, we adapt and switch it up, LEARN to ADJUST swindle, your a professional act like one and get the job done

What is this
I have definitely seen that too many times but never thought to go over and check it out, the guys do seem right with the weeds answer, maybe its time to go over there and actually fish ;D

Careful where you step
Not a fan of the snake, one good thing about long island fishing in ny, no poisonous snakes

One Crazy Day and 2 Questions
Im still pretty new to the boards here but a few times i meantioned that i go to Maine every summer for 2 weeks, one in late june and one in late august. Any how it was a nightmare today, the vacation was supposed to start today and my friend arrived at 430am we loaded up and i decided to be the driver even with no sleep because i was pumped. We got on the Long Island Expressway and go about 10 exits, my best friend says hes going to finally get sleep and 2 minutes later he has a seizure, i call our fathers who were ahead of us in the other car, while pulling over, keeping myself with it, and talking to my friend to tell him to stay with me, and telling the other car to pull over and immedatiely call 911. The ambulence gets him to the hospital does tests and say he is in fact allowed to go to Maine with proper sleep and if he stays on top of his medication. 2 things which slipped recently with him. He had seizures 3 years ago and it was determined he has them due to little sleep, 8 hours are mandatory and he must take a high dosage of anti-seizure pills if thats the correct wording. As soon as we ask the doctors every question possible and all were full of joy that my best friend could go on the yearly best bass vacation that he has been waiting for. Everything turns for the worst and he has another seizure. Going to Maine is now impossible for him but the 3 of us remaining previously paid for the vacation and plan to still go if everything is ok with him. Its not even the money issue at all. He will be released tomorrow morning almost definitely. I want to honor my best friend and continue with the vacation, something i think he would want me to do, my heart is not in it nearly as much. We have a tournament with my friend and I against our fathers for who gets the most bass, and also for biggest bass. Its become competetive and fun over the years. Clearly all of that stuff is cancelled for this year. Am i wrong to continue on this vacation now scheduled for commmencement tomorrow morning with my father and his father, while my best friend is left home recovering? Also a lesser question is that he is and always will be fishing partners but this week ill be managing the canoe myself for the first time, the canoe is not the problem, im curious how do you guys get pictures of real quality fish by yourself? usually we take pictures of one anothers fish, im sorry to get so personal with all of this stuff and dont mean to affend anyone what so ever, just had to get it out with this upsetting experience, thinking about the whole ordeal is scary, if he would of been driving we probably would have died, if i can go my entire life without seeing friends or loved ones in a seizure i would be extremely releaved,im gone for the 6 days that are left starting tomorrow so if anyone comments ill check bright and early in the morning, or ill see when i get back, I truely hope im doing the right thing :-/

I love propeller based lures for largemouths at night, as well as everyones favorite walk the dog lures

Fishing in the salad
my lure for this situation would totally be a moss boss if that helps some, seen some monsters blow up out of no where for this lure

Matching the Hatch
thats completely true, good point, i just feel like yeah they work very well, i do very well with creature baits, love them, but if you get something even closer to the real fish it cant hurt, it can only help

Matching the Hatch
that famous expression needs some clarification for me if possible. I understand that you match your lures and soft baits as close to those of the colors and sizes of the baitfish in the lake. How do you go about doing this. For instance i stay in Maine every summer for sometime with my best friend, my father and his father. At the dock i can see sunnies swimming around, and once in awhile we catch crawfish. So i can match baits to those. Besides that i do not see any other baitfish. I rarely see the minnows or types of shad in the lake. Do you guys find this technique important enough to follow. And how to you go about following this. Sorry for such a newbie question, have been fishing a long time but never understand this. Any info on this topic would be great ;D

best sounds of "fishin"
I love fishing in maine for a week each summer when the loons(type of waterbird) communicate across the entire lake with one another. Its a sound that puts a smile on your face. They are amazing birds. The sounds of top water lures espcially propeller lures chopping up the water in calm coves. It only happened once and i was using a senko continuously jerking it along the surface of the water in thick weeds. You could hear him inhale the lure and all of the water around it. The sound was fantastic. Lastly the sounds at dusk when bull frogs start making that croaking noise everywhere.

Crawfish Question
or crawdads whatever you call them.I use many soft baits that resemble these little critters. I usually use darker colors througout the bass season. In the northeast they seem to always be dark brownish tan and orange whenver i see them in real life.Im just curious do any of you follow their changing of colors throughout their season? And does it seem to make a huge difference, through personal experience the same colored crawfish baits always produce for me but im wondering if i could get even more bites by changing colors when they change. Thanks for any input you guys might have- Jon
