  1. I am going to fill up my tackle box before spring comes. I just got the Bass Pro Shops Spring Angler catalog, and all the Bass Pro lures are cheaper. Do you guys like their lures as much as other big names brands, particularly the crainkbaits? The crankbaits are in some cases $3-$4 less and the soft plastics are a few dollars less per pack. Do their lures have the same action and get the same results.
  2. I was just going to buy a curado at dsg but it was $130 not the $100 other people got it for. How do you like it?
  3. There is only a dollar or two price difference between the two. I am not going to fully load my reel with braid. I will use mono as backing. Will 15lb or 12lb mono be good enough for 65lb braid?
  4. I just got a new 7' H for flipping, pitching, topwater frogs, all the stuff you need heavy gear for. Should I go with 50lb or 65lb braid? Will there be sensitivity gained or lost with either of the two?
  5. I just got my first bc reel and am soon going to get another one. I looked at the articles about reel care but they did not seem to be thorough enough. I have a few questions. First off what needs to oiled, greased and lubed? And what are your favorite reel care products?
  6. So if I am using 30lb braid, 12 lb mono backing would be okay? Or would 8lb be better? And you don't have to worry about those breaking with a good fish on?
  7. I also have 15# mono. Also I am going to get a another reel for my heavy rod and am going to put 50lb braid. I am going to use that for pike so should I just go with full braid or a strong mono leader?
  8. Alright thanks. Will eight pound mono be strong enough for 30lb braid? And how much backing should I use? Also a lot of people put electric tape over their spool, is that necessary?
  9. I just got my first baitcaster a and the line just came. I am using 30lb braid. Some videos I watch say use mono at first but others use straight up braid. Is a minor backing necessary and do you find it helpful?
  10. I just got a MH 6'6" bait caster that will be used for jigs, weighted and unweighted plastics and some spinnerbaits. I fish in grass. I use my 7 H for pitching and flipping and topwater frogs. So I have a heavy duty but do you think that 30lb braid would be good for the MH?
  11. White for low light?
  12. How about the white and black one?
  13. What is your favorite topwater? and your favorite color?
  14. Any favorite colors?
  15. Whats your favorite craw to flip and pitch?
  16. Which trailers do you like best and catch the most fish? Relatively new to fishing and am starting to jig fish so some favorite jig suggestions would also be nice.
  17. Alright thanks. I have a MH Fast. Which is what I use for jigs do I will use it for skipping also.
  18. These are on sale from 100 to 80 and will go lower according to reviews. Does anybody have complaints or good things to say about them?
  19. And as far as the rod is concerned, that power line will not put too much pressure on the line if the drag is set properly?
  20. I just got a 6'6" MH FAST and a 7' H FAST baitcasters. I am going to use the 6'6" for jigs, weighted soft plastics and also some spinnerbaits. The 7' H will be used for topwater frogs, heavier jigs and going into heavy cover. One of the two will also be used for rat-l-traps. I want to use braid alone and a flouro leader in certain cases. Any recommendations of line strength based on what I said I will be using the combos for? I fish in a lot of weeds but also by rocks, which is when i'll use the flouro leader.
  21. That clears things up. What line strength would you recommend for pitching and flipping in heavy cover? Sorry for all the questions but I am relatively new to bass fishing.
  22. Thanks. I have been told or read in other places that for ripping rat-l-traps through grass that 50 lb + braid is recommended.
  23. These seem like relatively light setups, the line at least. Are these setups strong enough to pull through weeds or are you fishing in mainly open water?
  24. Thanks, you really answered my question well. I have a 6' medium power spinning rod, a 6'6" med/heavy baitcaster and a 7' heavy baitcaster. Right now I am using my medium heavy for the rat-l-traps because the rod and line are strong enough to rip through grasses. I am restricted mainly to the shore so weeds and grass are a concern. Also, I fish spinner baits a lot. I am looking at the BPS Crankin Stick when it goes on sale. Those are fast action but people say they have more bend in them. Just one more question. A lower gear ration is preferable for cranking rods?
  25. What strength line are you using on these rods? Also which specification do you have?
