  1. I'm in the process of upgrading my trolling motor, and would like some advice. I have a 2014 Nitro Z6, I've already upgraded the electronics, and added a PowerPole, so the remaining upgrade is the TM. I'm thinking of getting a 80lb 24v Maxxum. The reason I'm thinking of the 24v is because I want to save on weight, what I'm wondering if the 80lb TM will be enough for the areas I fish, mostly Everglades canal system and Ockeechobee. Will the 80lb be enough, or should I go up to the 112lb 36v. I would prefer to stay at the 80lb, but want to do the right thing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Great report Sam. WTG!
  3. WTG Sam. Glad to see you went out there. I fished L29 with Terry on 1/31. Caught a bunch of dinks, and lost a 4 or 5 lb'r.
  4. Thanks for the report. Going to fish a tournament out of Sawgrass this weekend, let's see what happens.
  5. Thanks for the info George. I've been fishing Trick worms and 10.5 worms lately, with some success, but the bite has been slowing down. I'll start throwing more senkos and flukes. Tight lines.
  6. Nice report! Thanks.
  7. As I've only been bass fishing for 1 year now, and still trying to understand the patters, what's the theory behind the fluke working at this time. Is it because fish are in prespawn and feeding? It's great to know what's working at the moment, but I'm always curious on why it's working. Thanks.
  8. Little L67 is a great place. Now the canal does go for miles, but they blocked it off around the 3 or 4 mile mark. There are some big orange signs and a few milk jugs anchored in the middle of the canal to indicate where it's blocked off. Now, if you are in a jon boat, you may be able to pull it over the rocks and fish the rest (not sure on the legality of fishing past the block). Tightlines.
  9. Great Point. Maybe the mod will move it. And BTW, she is. She bought me a new flippin stick and reel as well. As I researched more, I found the adapter plate for this boat, it's only available for the starboard side (guessing due to the ladder placement). I'm going to call Power Pole tomorrow and confirm, but it's a 14" setback with a 6" rise which is required. Gonna also call around for someone to mount it, I don't really trust BPS, so I'm going to call a local shop as well. Thanks.
  10. Happy Holidays everyone. In need of some help here. My wonderful wife bought me a 8ft Power-pole for Christmas, and now I'm trying to figure out how to mount it. I was thinking of mounting it directly to the transom, but I don't believe I have the room. So I started looking at the adapter plates, and on the Power-Pole site, it doesn't recommend a mount for the Z6, but it does for the Z7, which I'm assuming would work just as good. Has anyone mounted a Power-Pole to a Z6, or know of someone that has? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. BTW, it's a 2014 Z6, and I was planning on mounting it on the port side, for weight distribution purposes. Thanks.
  11. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
  12. Hey Showtime, welcome to the forum. I went out this weekend on L29 this weekend as well, and it was very SLOW. Was on the water before sunrise, and had 2 short strikes on a buzzbait, then fished for a few more hours throwing trickworms and nothing. When it gets cold down here, you really have to slow down, but with the wind this weekend it was tough. Good luck out there.
  13. Great report Jose! I'm going to try to head out there this weekend.
  14. Great report George. Sounds like a fun day.
  15. That's pretty much what I do. Once I find a stretch with a few bites or a nice fish, I mark it. Once you start doing that, you begin to notice certain differences which tend to hold fish. It's not a fool proof system, but it helped me. Good luck out there.
  16. I have the same unit and have not find any chips.
  17. Hey Lou, Let me clarify. I found out I had the stones last week on a trip to Georgia and ended up in the ER up there. They gave me some GOOD painkillers, which I'm sure helped while I passed this one (luckily I timed the meds perfectly as it turned out). Now, passing this one definitely went easy, a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, to be truthful it surprised me. The bad part now is I have 4 more to pass, because I had a total of 5 in my kidneys, I'm hoping these go as easy as the first one, but I doubt it!
  18. I thought it might have been you on the east canal, I was the guy on the white/red/black nitro. I ended the day with about a dozen. Left early because I was experiencing some pain (ended up passing a kidney stone in the afternoon which I was waiting for since last week), I was gone by 11:45. I got most of my bites on the outside edge of the pads working a finesse worm real slow.
  19. Nice fish George! I work in Weston and see those lakes on a daily basis, and always wondered if they were holding fish. WTG!
  20. Wow! Great report. I went out to the Little L (not sure if it's L67 A or C), but it was really slow. Ended up catching 4 fish with the biggest around 3 lbs, caught flipping a green pumpkin River Bug. May have to venture out to Holey Lands soon...
  21. Great report George. Catching 70 fish now is impressive.
  22. I agree. Good luck out there. Maybe I'll see you out there some day.
  23. I tried them a few times and nothing. Needless to say, I don't even carry them on the boat anymore.
  24. Thanks for the advise guys. Unfortunately, I can't make my club tournament this weekend at HP, but I'll definitely keep this in mind when I do venture out there. Tight lines.
  25. Thanks Lou. Let me tell you, the water was moving! Also, towards the end of the canal (right before it meets up with L67), there was a small path which I saw a flats boat in there fishing. My question is, if I were to go down those paths, am I required to have a flag or something when going in those places? I'm assuming those paths lead to some of the flats.
