  1. Sorry to hear about the engine, but congrats on the win! When it's meant to be, it's meant to be.
  2. Was looking at that while I was driving. I'll definitely give it a shot.
  3. Fished a club tournament today on the east side of US27. Lots of fish in the canals, the water level seem to dropping pretty fast. I was out there last weekend, and the water was definitely lower today. Managed a bag of 4 fish, with the biggest weighing 4.3lbs. Caught all my fish flippin. Lots of fish where caught on Rattle Traps, but mostly small.
  4. I definitely felt a machine gun hit one time, and that's what I thought. The others felt pretty solid. I'm going to flip some more this weekend, hopefully I don't knock myself out with a 1/2 oz weight to the forehead...
  5. Thanks for the tip. I'll be out there this Sunday in a club tournament. Let's see what happens...
  6. Gotfishyfinger, I am using a snell knot. I was fishing with a 1/2 oz tungsten weight, 4/0 Trokar flipping hook, with Reaction Innovations Kinky Beaver. They felt like good bites, but maybe I set the hook too soon, I'm thinking I have to wait till I feel the fishes weight before I set the hook. Is that correct method, or am I supposed to set the hook immediately?
  7. That sounds like a great trip. Which ramp do you use to get to that side? Do you come in from Holiday Park, or is there a ramp on that side. I'm going to check Google Earth to see if there is a way to get there from the east side. If you don't mind me asking, which frog where you using. I've been using the Zoom Horny Toads in Watermelon Seed.
  8. Went out yesterday, used the ramp behind the Sawgrass Recreation Park. The wind was blowing I'd say at least 20 knots, lots of fish but all were small. Caught most fish on swim baits (Flukes, Skinny Dippers), and had a few hits on frogs. I also tried a little flippin' (still learning), and had a few nice bites but no hookups. How did everyone else do?
  9. Captain_nick is dead on. I have a family member which lives on the Lake Catelina, only the homeowners have access to that lake. Twin Island Lake was very nice back in the day (80's). There were some ropes hanging from the pine trees which we used to swing from, I remember there was a car at the bottom of the lake which you would hit if you swung from a platform in the pine trees, it's a miracle we survived! It's all built up now, and I suspect the only access to that lake is via the homeowners or business owners on the lake. Just head out west of Tamiami Trail, the canals are loaded with fish these days.
  10. Thanks Bassin. That's been my experience. I probably have a 30% hookup ratio and the frogs, and the ones I caught have been small. Hopefully the bigger fish will arrive in the canals since the water is dropping.
  11. Well, I went to Fallins tonight for dinner. Great advice! I'll definitely be returning. I'm here all week, and looking at some property tomorrow, 11 acres with a pond holding bream and bass. Hopefully it will all work out.
  12. Thanks for the info guys. I've been using Horny Toads up to now, I do have some hollow body frogs as well, I'll give those a shot. I'm using MH 7ft rod with 30lb braid. I think I just haven't been waiting long enough. I'm going to have to really concentrate on waiting till I feel the weight of the fish, it's just so d**n hard after you see a blowup on the frog.
  13. Never really thought of a FROG season, is that now? I've started using Frogs more and more, but I think I'm just pulling it right out of their mouth. I've been using the Zoom Horny Toads in Watermelon, rigged with a 5/0 EWG hook. Either the fish are too small, or I'm not letting them take it. I have to start practicing more patience.
  14. Will do. Thanks for the tips. I've driven by Fallins a bunch of times, but never stopped. I'll give it a shot.
  15. I'm going to be traveling to Thomasville, GA next week. I don't see any major lakes around there, any suggestion where I can do a little fishing? Appreciate any info.
  16. Thanks Capt Shane. I'll give it try next time. I seem to be catching mostly small fish, do you think its a product of the baits, or is that normal this time of year. I just got the boat in November and I'm still in the learning curve.
  17. Went out this weekend on L29. Caught 30+, all small except for this nice one. Caught mostly on Zoom Trick worms and Flukes.
  18. I've been thinking of purchasing a PowerPole for my boat lately, I have a 2014 Nitro Z6. I mainly fish the canals in South Florida (Miami area), and probably a few trips a year to the lake. What I'm undecided about is, should I spend the money on the PowerPole, or should I go ahead an upgrade a few other components. I'm thinking upgrade the charger to a 4 bank, add another TM battery (gets me ready for a 24volt TM), add another cranking battery, add hydraulic steering, etc. I'm thinking I should probably upgrade the components, but just wondering if there is some compelling argument which would sway me to the PowerPole which I'm not aware of. Don't get me wrong, a PowerPole will be mounted on my boat, but maybe just not now. Thoughts?
  19. Not really sure where those areas are. Probably a 10 min run.
  20. Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely give a try. Tight lines.
  21. Went there 2 weeks ago. The bite was slow, but saw lots of fish. Might head out there this weekend.
  22. Senkos have been working. I'm also throwing Trick Worms and they have been producing as well.
  23. I ordered a Prism cover from BoatCovers.com in November. Had the cover within 5 days, and it fits perfect. Great cover at half the price of the manufacturers cover. I'm very happy with it. Good luck.
  24. Headed west on L67 canal yesterday morning. The bite was slow in the morning, but found a nice area around 10:00am where a bunch of fish were feeding. We ended up catching approximately 30-40 fish, nothing big, largest around 1.5 lbs but had fun. Caught most of the fish on Zoom Fluke and Zoom Trick worms. How did everyone else do?
  25. I ended up fishing L29 canal. I'm in the process of joining a fishing club, and they had a tournament which I attended. I ended with only 3 legal fish totally just under 3lbs (caught 8 or 10 in total). Other members did much better than me (I have ALOT to learn). I used a buzzbait, and a Zoom Horny Toad predawn, and caught several others on Flukes.
