  1. 125 bass so far this year.....10.1 being the biggest with a couple of 5's thrown in.
  2. Housen amazes yet again! Fished this Saturday and Sunday with my 11 year old son. Saturday was one of the busiest days on the lake I have seen in a while. Caught quiet a few fish but struggled with size. Sunday was a different day! Fished until noon with a chartreuse and black square bill. Boated somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 fish with the largest over 5 pounds, 7 white bass, and a large crappie on the crank bait. 5 best in the neighborhood of 17 pounds, had well over 20 pounds hooked up but could not seal the deal. My son and I had 4 doubles Sunday morning. Wind blown points in 3-6 fow. Wind had bait pushed against bank! What a trip!!
  3. Lake Falcon Texas....nothing there to do but fish but a chance at a true trophy!
  4. I just spoke to a fellow I work with who spent last Monday, post front, in Housen and 6 mile. He did not do well but spoke to a gentlemen who was catching well in six mile. I could not get any info about lure but he was shallow on beds. A couple of my fishing partners have had good days on roadrunners fishing for white perch in the coves.
  5. Finally getting a weekend without baseball. My fishing buddy and I will be heading up to the big pond Friday to fish the weekend. Hope to have some pics and a good report to post. I would like to take the time again to thank the contributors to this thread. It has made me more aware of patterns and presentations that I would have normally not fished. It also helps when you have a small window of time to take a kid fishing to have accurate and up to date reports to help put him on fish. Thanks for every ones input!!
  6. Fished Housen Wednesday. Did well on wacky worms and senkos in 4 to 6 ft. of water. Put 25 fish in boat over the course of the day. Saw a few beds with males on them but not the number I expected. Most of the fish we caught were males. We did see a few nice fish cruising but could not get them to bite. A couple of buddies fishing the same day had a little better luck with size..numbers were about the same.
  7. I was hoping to have some good news about my trip to the Bend yesterday. Unfortunately I am reporting my first scratch in 15 years. Fished 6 mile and sandy from 2 to 25 fow with just about everything in the box.....not a nibble! The water was muddy in the back to mildly stained at the mouth, water temp was 49 in the morning to 51 around 2 when we gave in. On a positive note a friend of mind fishing out of pirates caught a 8:13 today on a white spinnerbait. He said he did not get many bites today other than the big girl.
  8. Bad weather pushed the trip from New Years eve to January 3 and 4th. It was tough, very tough. When we made our first cast on Friday it was 32 degrees..Falcon fish apparently don't like the cold. I was forced to go this time of year due to my sons school schedule and obligations later in the year. I will go back but it won't be in January, as we all know the weather is to hit and miss for that long of a drive. As tough as it was Falcon did show her colors...we did not have many bites but what we did was big. My son and I were able to put our personal bests in the boat. My sons was 6 and mine was 10.16. Falcon is an amazing place...anyone that loves bass fishing you owe it to yourself to make a trip!
  9. Merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone! Looking forward to a great 2014!!
  10. Fished yesterday from 5 to 30 fow. The only bites came in 12 fow next to grass in a creek channel. Caught them on red traps. Fished housen and six six mile. Tough day!!!! Next trip is lake falcon on new years eve!!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!!
  11. I have not been able to make it to my favorite fishing hole for a couple of weeks but I did get a report from a friend of a very good C-rig bite on a main lake point. He was in the Six Mile area in 16 FOW around timber, with 35 FOW+ water nearby. Slowly dragging a C-rig craw worm, caught several in the 3-4 pound range. I hope to head up Thursday to put a few of my own in the boat!!!
  12. I have 4 WM rods, so far no issues.....I have the 7'8" deep cranking glass rod from the same series that are on sale. I have not had any issues so far, definatly worth the price.
  13. If anyone is interested in a good deal on wright mcgill Rick Clunn series crank bait rods you need to check out Dicks sporting goods online. They have a 7 ft crank bait rod on ale for $29, if you purchase 2 the price drops to $25 apiece.....regular $89 rod. $52 total with shipping....online only.
  14. My boat is good to go as well!
  15. I am in if I am off! Sounds fun
  16. I need to spend a little more time with the Jig-n-craw. Probably my weakest bait.
  17. Love that crank action....Used to hate 'em but they have been nice to me this year!!! Thanks for the report Bear!
  18. Had a great trip in lowes creek this June. Started catching then pretty steady down south and have not been back. It is hard to get away from your comfort zone when you are trying to get a 11 year old on steady bites. Like bearonthewater said thanks to the guys on this thread,Toledo Bend has opened up some of her secrets to me this year. Thanks to all
  19. The water temp was around 65 at day break and topped out around 67. If it gets as cold as they say it will I would imagine it is going to really slow down things in the backs of the creeks. It will probably move fish out into the creek channels and ledges. This is a total guess, not the best at winter time fishing.
  20. Spent yesterday in Housen and White Oak. The water was beautiful, this was my first time actually going into white oak, I normally fish the mouth where the creek hits the river channel. I caught most of my fish in Housen fishing creek bends associated with the grass beds in 16 to 18 FOW. My primary baits were a SK 5xd and a lip less crank bait. I would pull both baits from the creek up and over the grass beds attempting to hit every piece of wood on my way. Most of my strikes came when I made contact with wood or the tops of the grass bed. I did catch a few on TR but could not find a consistent bite. Our best 5 were just over 19 pounds....caught 20+ fish total.....My 11 year old son caught his PB at close to 5#.
  21. Thanks for the tip! By the time I had given up on my spots from Friday the gentleman I was fishing with was spent. He is not a die hard and is just getting into Bass fishing. We spent the rest of the afternoon telling stories, eating gumbo, and watching a few deer from the deck at the camp!!
  22. Headed to Falcon in November!!!! My 11 year old son wanted a guided trip so I decided sacrafice and give him what he wanted....What a sacrafice on my part. I know November is not spring time but I will post the results when we return.
  23. First of all this thread has been a huge help to me!!! I have been fishing Toledo all of my life but have just recently started fishing offshore structure. The tips and techniques have been priceless......Thanks to all for posting!!! I was able to make a trip last weekend to the Bend and had a mixed bag of results. Started fishing Friday afternoon in the community hole in Housen. Caught several fish in and around the grass beds. Made a move to the back of Housen and found very dirty water from the rains earlier in the week. Ran back out and fished in the Ashmore area and was able to finish the day on a high note. Found the bass feeding around the grass line and caught several on just about anything you wanted to throw, Spinner bait and crankbait was the lure of choice. Saturday and Sunday was a different story!! The Northwest wind stirred the water up around Ashmore killing my bit and the wind blew me off of my spot in the community hole....struggled bad, still caught a few but it was a battle!!
