  1. Order placed as well. Cannot wait to get a closer look at these. Thanks Mike!
  2. I say go for it. And like you said make an offer and see if you can get it for a little under $70 which will make the deal that much better. I recently picked up a Chronarch 201e5 from a local seller that said he took the reel apart and had issues upon assembly but it still functioned. I got it for $50 and while there is some marring where the guy tried to pry the side off instead of removing the proper screws its an excellent reel and i've already taken it apart and serviced it and other than some noise from the anti reverse pawl its a fine reel with just some cosmetic defects. But as always check it out in person and inspect it as best you can before you hand over the cash. Good luck!
  3. Awesome, a MN corner! Been fishing bass since I was a kid off and on and have really gotten into it the last season and a half after getting a boat. I live in Rogers and usually fish lakes in the northwest burbs. I usually cast but have started to pitch and flip a lot more, depending on how close my target is of course. I notice the less disturbance I can make on entry the less fish I spook. Or at least cast well beyond my target.
  4. Sounds like you have it figured out already but I also got my first baitcaster setup this season. I had a lesser budget but ended up with a used Shimano Curado 201e7 and a Fenwick Silverhawk MH-F. Have loved it and since picked up a used Shimano Chronarch to add to the collection. I've heard the same about the *** *** Black and have been thinking about picking up a MH-F myself. They do seem to be a bit tip heavy but I have yet to hold one with a reel on it. Might have to give that a go next time i'm at Cabelas to seal the deal. Good luck, the *** Black and Lews sounds like a great combo.
  5. Thanks for the welcomes all! Ha! Hardwater season. I've seen it already and have heard of some local lakes having 1" already in some spots. Too soon to wish for open water?
  6. Been lurking long enough. Been fishing since I was young and got turned onto bass by a childhood friend. From that first Hula Popper strike I was hooked. I Still fish with that same friend today on local lakes. Finally bought a boat last year and have gotten out nearly twice a week all season. Learned a lot over the last year and figured what better time to join the group here, just as i've wrapped up the boat for the winter. Already looking forward to next season! I'd also like to thank the members here for all the help they've given me already. I've used the resources here to learn about reels, rods, lures, etc. I bought my first baitcaster this season(Curado 201e7) and love it. In fact I added a second baitcaster that I got an amazingly good deal on locally(Chronarch 201e5). Not to mention my tackle collection has nearly tripled thanks to all the reviews and suggestions here. Cheers
