When Will These Ponds Begin To Thaw??!!
I am located on Long Island in New York, and i've been waiting for the past 2.5 weeks for my fishing spots to un freeze, but it is taking longer than i expected. We had about five or six 60+ degree days within these 2.5 weeks and the rest were 50+ degrees and a few were under 40 or around 40. I go to check out my ponds and they are still frozen shut.... why does spring have to come late this year..? and even once the ponds unfreeze it'll take some time to heat that water up....

For the those of you who are fishing in Florida and not having much luck, you're fishing wrong! I've been fishing last couple days here in Boynton beach and the bass have been nailing anything i toss in the water! Try using larger baits, i caught one on a sluggo, the fish was 22 in, 5lb 4 oz. It was crazy

Oddest Fishing Spot You've Fished?
What is the oddest fishing spot that you have fished at, and have successfully caught bass at? Mine would have to be at this pond belonging to a catering place, which i had gone to expecting nothing to be in the waters except the swans that lived there... It turned out to be a honey hole of nice fish... no big monsters but i've got a couple nice 17-18 inchers

Things Bass Fisherman Say...
When i'm fishing with my friend and its time to head home... Friend : I think its time to call it a day.... bite's dead for the night. Me : Wait, let me take another cast. 5 minutes later Friend : Ok, nothing's happening we gotta go now. Me : Ugh! We each get three more casts okay?! Friend : Ha, fine. 1 cast later Me: Okay, so if you catch a fish, any fish, you get an extra cast! Friend : *laughs* 2 casts later Friend : Okay three casts are over, time to go! Me : Let me reel this in.... *reels slowly* 1 minute later Friend : Ok, we had a productive day, got some nice fish, but i'm worn out. *Friend begins to pack up tackle box* Me : Just give me one more cast for good luck... *quickly takes another cast* Friend : ugh c'mon man Me : Hold on, you never know if the fish is gonna take it or not.... 1 minute later Me : Okay, i'm done Friend : Let's go *We start to walk away from the pond* *I quickly take another cast* Friend : Come on! We're going! Me : I need to catch something before i leeeave! Friend : We've fished this spot all day, the bass need a rest! Me : .. I think i just felt a bite! *Lets lure sit out in water* 30 seconds later Friend : Ok it wasnt a fish, just a snag or something... Me : Okay, i'm leaving now lets go....

Winter, Feels Almost Over; When Is It Time To Start Again?!
Hey there! So lately I have had the feeling the winter is pretty much over up here in New York. We already had our peak snow storms and now the weather has been 45-55 degrees lately. It seems quite early and maybe the temps will drop again, but i am hopeful for the alternative. I've got all new gear and lures ready to go; now I just need there to be fish to catch. The ponds I usually fish were probably frozen around 2 weeks ago, but only lightly. The water temperature has probably warmed to the low 40's or mid 40's based off the fact that they had been frozen, but we have received lots of warm rainy days and thunderstorms as if it were March or April, so it may have warmed significantly. Prior to the New Year, I had been fishing at least twice a week at multiple spots, trying all types of lures: flipping jigs, rattletraps, deep divers, jerkbaits, crank baits, senkos and I have worked them respective to the bass’s slow metabolism. During these daily winter fishing trips from November to Late December I caught nothing. After Christmas Break hit I gave up winter fishing, and since then I haven’t gone. The last time I caught a bass was late October and the bass then were slamming! They were feeding heavy for the “cold” winter. This winter hasn’t been that cold, however, as it feels like we have reached our coldest days with a snow storm around New Year’s Eve, and temps dropped to mid to high single digits. All of the snow quickly melted as lots of warmer rain came pouring down in the following days. In late December I actually attempted some bait, I was so desperate to catch something and I normally only use lures/ live frogs , and I still caught nothing. I was looking at future temperature predictions and it’s only uphill with few dips in temperature from here on. I know March is probably the best time to start back up for pre-spawn but I can’t wait any longer. I’ve tried multitudes of hobbies to help distract me from my fishing addiction but its hasn’t ceased my pain. I’ve bought new gear, put fresh line on reels, spied on birds, scavenged google earth for ponds and underwater structure, worked out, ran winter track, watched people catching lots of nice Florida bass on YouTube, studied weather predictions to plan my first day back in action and did school work. I hope this winter is pretty much over Thanks for reading! Thoughts are much appreciated!

How Do Yall Deal With Not Fishing Over The Cold Northern Winters?
i buy new lures, put fresh line on my reels, look on google maps for new spots, spy on birds (cool photos: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/129090-during-the-dead-winter-when-i-cant-fish/), scout out new ponds, buy new gear, dream about spring, watch videos of people fishing, post on this website...
