  1. I've caught a couple fish littered with spots like that in rivers with lots of agriculture runoff. I don't know if there is any correlation.
  2. I catch bass on shad lakes with no trout using trout swimbaits, and bass in trout lakes with no shad on Shad swimbaits. I don't think a bass has ever seen anything resembling a 10" plum worm but they sure do like them.
  3. Had an hour to kill after school, the rain was dumping so the current was picked up in the river and fish were holding by runoff creeks. caught 8 on a chatterbait, these two were the biggest.
  4. I had one eat a spook and wrap me up in a laydown before I could realize what was going on. She broke me off and proceeded to jump until she (Thankfully) threw the spook. 7lb fish easy. They all hurt. Same place that I had a fish of similar size come unbuttoned on a buzzbait about a month ago
  5. I caught about 40 Saturday on a Cavitron and a War Eagle spinnerbait, went to the same location today and caught about 40 on a chatterbait, it's probably the most ridiculous bite I've ever been on.....Go pro footage will be up in the near future.
  6. Cavitron And War Eagle were the main players today. Brown ones and green ones
  7. And in a kayak we can make long casts keeping the buzzbait within a foot of the bank fishing parallel. That's deadly .
  8. The 'ol 3/8 Cavitron sure can catch some fish
  9. Spots on a frog, now that's cool
  10. The problem is that it's not a war eagle
  11. A copperhead bit me on the foot (dry bite thank goodness) while bass fishing this year, and I have heard of other fishing related bites in VA. But 28 from lipping bass, no way
  12. Put a trick worm or finesse worm on a 3/0 or 4/0 superline EWG hook. The extra weight of the hook helps it sink and dart better. Make sure you set the hook hard since it's harder to get a hook that big to penetrate.
  13. I just have a big tray with no dividers for my swimbaits Lots of guys use a small Rubbermaid tub
  14. This spring I was drop shotting there with 10' vis
  15. I don't think you could snag a carp with a swim jig because of the weedguard. But I would definitely tell myself it was a carp
  16. Went to a local reservoir after school, found 3-6" of visibility and thought what the heck I'll try it...One fish on a spinnerbait, two on a KVD 1.5, two on a 1/4oz black buzzbait, and half a dozen or so on a texas rigged baby brush hog. I would just shake it in a laydown for 15-20 seconds and they would find it. All dinks, this was the biggest one, measured 15" Muddy! Deep, the lake has dropped quite a bit, I found this buried in a stump. Looks like something did have a hold of it when you swung judging from the amputee baby rage craw.
  17. The Potomac river was a cruel, cruel place today! The wind was so bad that we would just motor up a creek and drift down the banks to fish, if there was a laydown you had one shot at making a presentation. Couple that with a high pressure system and things were just lovely....My first fish came on a texas rigged baby brush hog pitching it at the edge of the grass, the second one came on the edge of the grass with a senko. Two bass for 5.13lbs was enough to get third place and lock in a shot in the State Championship this spring! Winning weight was 11.8, the only kid who caught a limit. Second place had 3 bass for 6 something. A huge thanks to those on BR who gave me some pointers on fishing the Potomac!
  18. This smallie didn't weigh much but he was 23" and ate an S-Waver 168. Once in a lifetime fish and my buddy took an awful pic haha I'll never let him live it down
  19. I like a wacky jighead. VMC makes good ones
  20. Can you really troll 10mph for musky? That's nuts, I thought 7mph for Spanish mackerel was fast. Wahoo trolling on plane is probably the craziest though
  21. It's like throwing a spinnerbait vs a drop shot. If you need to cover water and find fish then yeah I may throw an inline spinner or a spoon but if I have some trout located I'm gonna be using a trout magnet or drifting a Berkley power egg by them. And rarely do I need to cover water for trout, there is only so much area for them to go to in a stream or river!
  22. My friend got tail slapped on the leg by a 50lb cobia we gaffed and brought in the boat while it was a little green, left a nasty bruise. One of my dad's friends was reaching into our fishbox when a triggerfish about 3lbs bit him and held on hard enough that when he jerked his hand back the fish came with it. No stitches needed but close. Fishing can be a contact sport!
