  1. Here in south Florida there are signs in all the popular fishing areas warning you not to eat the Bass. They contain high levels of Mercury and Pesticides from the runoff of all the farming areas that the water runs thru. I do not eat any fish that I catch in the everglades, Frogs and Alligators are a difrent story.
  2. I havent been to Fish Eating Creek in many years but when I did go there the fishing was great. The most important thing is to spend some quality time with your dad, the good fishing will be there.
  3. I don't think you are allowed to use the Levy from 40 mile bend and if you are talking about the 11 mile oil well road that is not allowed either unless things have changed, it has been about 10 years since I went in there on an ATV. Also check with the park service to see if you need an off road permit for your ATV you will be in the Big Cypress National Preserve. I always went in from the Jetport road. It is a nice ride thru the cypress on an ATV. The canal L-28 that comes out to the trail is not the canal you want to fish, That canal ends about 6 miles from the road. Where that canal ends all you have to do is cross the levy and the L-28 tieback canal begins. That is the canal you want to fish in. the second canal runs about another 6 to 8 miles. The G.P.S. coordinates for the crossover is 25.55.08 / -80.50.11. I would suggest having a buddy go with you because if it is not hunting season you will most likely be the only person out there between the jetport and the canal however there will be airboats in the canal. Good Fishing
  4. I see you are in the Miami area, Have you ever tried the L-28 tieback out by the jetport? itr is about a 6 mile ride on the atv and some very good fishing out there. The only other way to get there is an airboat or a swamp buggy.
  5. There is a canal down south of Homestead / Florida City that produces some good fish. If you go towards the entrance of Everglades National park it is the last canal you cross before you enter ENP. If you get to the visitor center you went too far. There is a boat ramp on the north side of the road put your boat in there and go south, the canal dead ends about 2 miles south of the road but it produces some good fishing with fish in the 4 to 6 lb class especially with top water plugs at night. You will usually be the only boat in the canal.
