Affordable Jig Rod Set Up?
Its been said on here by many that the *** *** hvy is one heck of a jig rod and for the price of $100 you really cant go wrong, I have a couple of dobyns champion models that pull jig duty for me, last year it was the 734 and it handled jigs very well, this year the 735 will be putting in work. I have a *** spinning rod and I absolutely love that thing, light as a feather and sensitive as heck. Even though I don't need another jig setup after all the reading and recommends from guys on here I just really want to get that ***, heck for the price why not.

Sweet Deal Or Not?
Bought my first two baitcasters from them, being new to the reels I realized about a month after I bought them (they showed up when I was deployed) that I ordered the wrong sides (I cast with my right hand) Called them up and they said no problem send them back and we will swap them out, top notch service, I didn't even have to pay shipping on the returns. Great company and great prices.

Tournament Pro And Pro Qualifier Spools
Bump I would like to know as well since I have only found one place that sells the TP spools, I would really like a extra spool so I can switch from fluro to strait braid but $50 for a spool is kinda high for me.

What's Your Guys Favorite Lure, rig And Way To Fish
Hands down flipping a jig, It may not catch em as fast as a crank but man its just to much fun getting up close to a bush or a tree in the water and finessing that jig right next to a good looking spot and having a big girl rush out to kill it. Top water being a close second that rush from a blowup is about as close to high as you can get.

Topwater Popper, Spooks Require This Line
2x on the softer rod, been said on here quite a lot before, kinda the same thought process I had when I bought my Dobyns 705 CB Glass, I was trying to find a good rod for throwing cranks and before I had noticed that I was missing a lot of fish on a stiffer rod ripping the baits right out of there mouths, once I got that CB glass it wasn't a problem anymore. The rod has a lot more give which lets the fish really take the bait all the way in before Im putting the grind on her.

Advise For A Florida Trip
Thank you sirsnookalot that's really helpful I wanted to make sure that the gear I was looking towards using would work, I am no where near an ocean so buying ocean specific gear doesn't really benefit me much, but I am always looking for an excuse to buy more bass gear lmao dang bait monkey

Advise For A Florida Trip
No one has fished for reds in that area? All im really looking for is a rod and lure suggestions, as I have never done any salt water fishing. I would like the rod to be used for bass after the trip, I was thinking about getting another *** for the job.

Advise For A Florida Trip
Thanks for the replies I was checking out lake talquin online thinking I may be able to head up that way on the weekend and do a little bank fishing guess we will have to wait and see how things work out. As to the salt response I keep hearing people on line say fish the jetty's for redfish and after checking out some videos it looks like a blast, the only problem is the salt game is an animal I know nothing about, does anyone have any advise as to what kind of gear I would need, I know the average bass spining gear would work for the reds, as far as a med-hvy rod goes, would my 2500 stradic ci4 with some braid work ok for the reds? what about lures? I have lots of different things so I could easly bring some of my own stuff and maybe pick up a few things there but like I said I dont really know what all I would need. Any help or advise?

Advise For A Florida Trip
Mid April I'm going to be going on a two week trip to Eglin AFB for work, for those not familiar with the base it's in the Destin area. If anyone could offer some advice on places to do some fishing that would be much appreciated I did a little research online and obviously up in the panhandle region salt water seems to be the way to go, but if there somewhere close I would like the opportunity to maybe target some bass while I'm there.

Pricing Out The Average Angler?
Well if you asked my fiancé I'm sure she would love for me to give it up because of the amount I am willing to pay to catch a "stupid fish" in her opinion. Truth be told though if it wasn't fishing it would just be something else, I have often thought about cheaper hobbies but I swear they just don't exist (at least not for people like me) I have always been a believer of buy the best possible things you can, it doesn't matter the hobby, when it came to motorcycles it was no different, there is always another part or upgrade out there that you want, don't even get me started on diesel trucks that's a rich mans hobby which is why mine is pretty stock and boring I can't afford to play that game. No matter what I will always need a hobby and it will always be expensive so I might as well stay with fishing, after all I'm deep into the accounts when it comes to gear and I don't see any light at the end of that tunnel.

Weird Lures You Didn't Think Would Work But Did-
Same here, last year around November me an my partner decided to try for one last bass trip on our favorite lake, got there and ice was starting to form in the shallows, knew the bite was going to be slow that day but maaaaannnnn was it. We threw everything we had and got nothing I was changing baits out a lot. Looking into one of my boxes I saw 3 jigs had no idea how to fish them or even why I had bought them in the first place (darn bait Monkey). Tied one on and a sweet beaver trailer and tossed it out in the middle of the lake and just let it sink. Right after my first pull I thought I felt a very lite tap, I let it sit and sure enough another lite tap, decided what the heck hook sets are free and I'm batting 0 so I let her rip and caught the only fish of the day a nice 16incher. Kept fishing it the rest of the day and getting taps so my buddied finally gave in and tied one on but couldn't seem to land one even though he was now finally getting some attention. It was all over after that I proceeded to buy a whole box full of jigs over the winter plus my first baitcaster setup. Spring came and I started to pitch them into cover. Needless to say I am in love its my favorite way to fish now and I am never out without a jig tied on.

Best Drop Shot Specific Spinning Rod Under $100 ?
X2 I bought the M and I love it for dropshot and I use it for a lot of other applications as well, super sensitive and very light on the arm.

Green Pumpkin Vs. Watermelon Red
About two years ago that watermelon red was on fire around here, you couldn't keep them off a wacky rigged senko in that color especially during the spring I went to lake powell and went through about 5 bags in a weeks fishing trip (the smallies were just crushing them as soon as they hit the water). This last year I got tons of new gear and fell in love with fishing jigs/cranks so the worms/senkos didn't get much attention, but that color will always be big in my rotation. Most of the lakes around me are pretty clear though so that probably has a part in it, I have always done better with watermelon red over green pumpkin.

Worm Color
I always get weird looks from people in the tackle store when I am holding a package of plastics up to the lights, there loss I figure if they don't get it. For me I want to see what the color changes to with the light above, figure it gives me a little bit more knowledge of how the bass see's it when looking up.

What Inexpensive Lure Do You Use That Exceeds Your Expectation And Price Point?
X2 on the netbait paca's I started using those this year and they are a great bait for the price, now my favorite lure is great for the subject because the price is amazing, especially for the amount of work these baby's put in and thats the Norman cranks. DLil-n, DD-14's, and DD-22's. I picked up about 8 DD-22's last year on sale for 3 bucks a piece and since then I have bought many more and am very pleased with them, they fish true right out of the package have good hardware on them and at 3-5 bucks a piece on average you just cant beat them. Ive caught a lot of fish in the last 2 years with them, the only other crank that I have used that has put more fish in the boat is the rapala jointed shad rap, in shad color love that little crank and the price isnt bad on those either, but since the normans showed up the rapala has taken a back seat. Love those cranks.

What Have Been Some Of Your Better Buys In Rods And Reels?
Last year was my first year jumping into baitcasting and the timing couldnt have been better I was deploying right around the holidays so I had money to spare and I scored two dobyns champ rods at 30% off from the hook up tackle, sale had ended the day before on thanksgiving and I was calling in to see what there (prices so low you have to call) black firday sale, asked the guy about the rods and he said sale ended yesterday but Ill give it to you anyway, great costomer service at the hook up. Around a month latter I scored 2 Lew's TP's for $150 a piece, all in all I thought I did pretty good and have super pleased with my choices for gear.

Best And Worst (Hardest) State To Fish?
You are definitely right there, down south has some great fishing around st george and lake powell, to bad its about 5-6 hour drive for us northern guys.

Best And Worst (Hardest) State To Fish?
Northen Utah can be pretty tough for bass, lakes are over fished and people will take out big femails like its nothing they dont care. Plus the northern park of the state seems to be only interested in garbage trout, they wont put any money into warm water hatcherys, good thing idaho is only about an hour and half away, way better fishing and not nearly as many people.

Two Drop Shot Rods Recommendation
I have had great sucess using my *** M for drop shotting, last trip out my buddie who uses a nice light weight fenwick for his drop shotting asked to use my 13 for a while and said he really liked it nice, light, and very sesitive. I really love that rod use it for all my lighter pastics fishing and you cant beat the price. Ive caught tons of bass, walleye, crappie, and even my biggest catch in utah a 8lb Tiger muskie on that rod. Love that thing best spinning rod Ive owned

Ever Run Into This Type?
Happens in utah way to much, way to many people and not enough water, esspecially one of my local fishing spots. Place gets abused way to much, over harvesting and personal space is thrown to the wind by these people. One day I was on the bank tossing a jointed shad rap that had done well for me in the past and I nailed 6 nice wippers (hybrid bass) in a row in about 30 minutes of fishing. After I landed and reliesed my secound fish a guy walked over from the spot him and his brother where fishing in, rod in hand he starts asking me about what I am using so I show him cause I was just there for fun so I didnt care and he started the conversation in a friendly manner. After that I kept catching fish after fish him standing right next to me casting right in the same spot. I didnt really care acutally thought it was kinda funny cause his lure of choice wasnt even close to what I was throwing so I just laughed it off thinking this dude has no hope. Another time though was not a laughing manner, me and a buddie where fishing within 20ft of the bank in a canoe and we landed a couple nice bass for that lake, next thing you know a guy in a bass boat (not comon in this lake as its very small) came around the corner just as we where landing a nice 4 pounder and he cut right in between us, right over top the spot with all the fish casting into in as they went over. Had we not be in the canoe and pretty much helpless aginst the bass boat I would have had some very choice words for his and his buddies. Common courtesy is something that is dying in this country

Lefty Or Righty
It's funny that this post was just started because yesterday while watching some flipping videos on YouTube it hit me all of a sudden that the two brand new tournament pro's I just ordered were right handed models. I started to panic because it then dawned on me that what that meant was it's opposite from all my spinning gear that I am used to. This will be my first year trying casting gear so it's all new to me and when I saw right handed I thought yep that's me cause I always cast and hold the rod in my right hand, boy let me tell you I felt like a real DA for that mistake. Luckily I got them from the same company and they told me just send them back and we will exchange them, since I'm deployed and not home to receive them I never got to see them other wise I would have realized when the first one showed up it wouldn't work for me. I agree 100% with a couple of the other post that I'm completely right hand dominate so holding a rod in the left just wouldn't work for me. Thank god lews has both models in lefties or I'd be up the creek without a paddle.
