  1. Ok i live in southeastern ohio and we have our first open on the river this sunday(where we live is smallmout territory). The water temp is 43 to 49 degrees depending on the day. I was just wondering what to use i have never fished a tournnament in this cold of water before. Its usually in the upper fiftys by now. Thanks for all the help
  2. I am going to try this technique out this year here in ohio. I bought a few Duo spinbaits and wondered some of your expirences with the spybait or just some general info. thanks as always for the help!
  3. people have tryed but it never works haha.
  4. This is a bait, when i looked at i assumed drop shot ok, but wacky rig never would of thought about it but let me tell you, this surprisingly works very well where i live. i rigged it with the flick shake jig head and it was on in early to late summer when the bite slowed down. Any question or imput?
  5. This is something i would like to brush up on. I do know how to use a jerkbait but do not feel confident using one. I know people crush smallies on jerk baits where i live in the spring season. I just cant seem to do well with them. Am i using the wrong colors i usally go with a french pearl rick clunn jerkbait or a rapala x rap in shad color. what is the best techniques or how long between pauses? Feel free to throw in your imput.
  6. My dad, hes been a die hard tournament angler since i was very young, so fishing has always been beat in my head. I would say the technique i learned from him would be jigging, shallow cranking, and tying knots. these a just a few of the many things hes taught me.
  7. I know a big thing here in ohio, a bunch of people included myself in under yours gloves, wear the rubber gloves Thicksters. This works wonders believe it or not for keeping hands warmer longer.
  8. Im gonna have to say shakey heads, tubes, or finesse worms on a river system.
  9. never thought about that man appreciate it.
  10. I was actually thinking like you, i love the shakey head and i mean as previously stated it does have the profile, and how did it work as a trailer i cant see it being bad the action would probably be amazing.
  11. I am taking a trip to guntersville in late march and have never been there before. I would just like to know some general information what to throw, where do i even fish? beat the banks or offshore structsure?
  12. I was wondering if anyone tryed the Dream shot other than for drop shotting. It almost looks like a profile of a shakey head? any imput?
  13. I would have to go with Green pumpkin or White both in a half ounce. The way i like to fish them on the ohio river and seems to work quite well. First i let it fall then snap the rod tip to give it more of a aggresive behavoir. Second ill just use like a regular swimbait slow rolling and occasionally ill give it a few quick turns of the reel, then back to slow rolling. Works for me on the ohio river hopefully maybe this helps
  14. I know i beat the banks to death last year and it didnt do me a bit of good, i was so close so mant times on placing in events i half wonder could i have done better with offshoring. I know this year im going to be doing a lot of practicing with this technique, i have good electronics and the baits to do it. thanks for all the input men!
  15. im on a boat, i fish tournaments mostly around this area, and yes they do stack up quite well at the dam early then it seems like after spring the dam kinda shuts down, unless we got high moving water.
