Fillet Knife Questions
I'm decided, the knife I have is a 6 inch rapala, I'm going to buy a 7.5 in. fish n fillet kit for bigger fish and use the 6 in. for panfish. I think this setup will work fine for me since I am very new to filleting. Thanks everybody!

Fillet Knife Questions
Would a regular kitchen knife rod work for honing?

Fillet Knife Questions
Does the little red sharpener that comes with the cheaper rapala knives work? For casual filleting, not huge 100 fish fish fries

Fillet Knife Questions
Im thinking I'm gonna stick with the knife I've got and sharpen it often, I don't eat enough fish to justify buying a 40 or 50 dollar knife. Thanks for the advice everybody

Fillet Knife Questions
Last year I had a terrible time trying to fillet fish. I was using a cheap 15$ knife(rapala I think) and I never sharpened it since I knew nothing about filleting. This year I plan on keeping many crappie, sunfish and pike so I need to get better. Would it be best to buy a better knife or will this knife serve me fine as long as I sharpen it often? What are some good knife sharpeners? Thanks

Best Fillet Knife For 50$?
I'd rather use a traditional knife so I can use it in the Boundary waters, and so I don't waste any meat on small panfish. I'm thinking I'm gonna go with the "Knives of Alaska" Steelhead knife

Best Fillet Knife For 50$?
I've been using the cheap 15$ rapala knife for a couple years and am ready to step it up because I plan on keeping many more fish this year. It will be mainly be used for crappie, sunfish, and pike. What is the best knife for under 50$?

Midwest/northern Tactics!?
Yeah, gotta love the diversity we have....that is once the ice melts of course. I'm a kayak angler with two rods. One casting and one spinning. Im planning on trying flukes and lipless cranks for the first time this year. I think I will go out with only jigs at least once to gain some confidence in them.......well maybe I'll have a frog or two in my pocket

Midwest/northern Tactics!?
I see a lot of people on these forums from Florida,Texas,California, and many southern states. Unfortunately I see little talk of northern tactics and teqniques. Specifically for Minnesota lakes, lakes filled with pads and weeds. What sort of teqnioches do those of you who live in this frozen hell use? I plan on using mostly wacky worms, jigs, and spinnerbaits this year. Jerk baits early in the season. What else would you suggest? Thanks!

Best States To Live In For Bass Fishing
Minnesota if you're up for the cold/ icefishing in the winter. Not the biggest bass here but you're never more than 5 minutes from a lake!

Best Lake In Your State

What Is Your First....?
Always a spinnerbait, I choose the type of blades and color based on the conditions. i always want to start with a reaction style bait and then if that doesn't work I'll switch to a more subtle presentation such as a wacky worm or jig

Any Gander Mountain Employees?
I purchased the rods online, the casting hasnt come yet. I contacted their customer service and they had emailed me the forms within a few hours. Very nice to feel like a big company like that cares. I'd shop there more often but a Cabelas is just as close.

Any Gander Mountain Employees?
I recently purchased a couple *** black rods from gander mountain. They had a rebate where if you buy 100$ worth of rod, you get a 20$ gift card. The offer expired on 3/19, i bought the rods a couple days before this meaning I am eligible(rebate must be postmarked by April something). Unfortunately since the offer expired 3/19 i cant find the rebate on their website. Anyone know how to access it so I can print it? Thanks!

Help Spooling Spinning Reel!?
I managed to get the backing on with minimal memory, it was better after I'd gotten a decent amount of line on. Now Im soaking the fluoro for a few hours before I spool it.

Help Spooling Spinning Reel!?
I need some serious help with spooling my spinning reel. I've been trying to spool the #8 mono that will be backing for my seaguar fluoro. I understand that you want to match the line memory of the spool to the reel. Looking at the reel from the but of the rod(looking at it turned upside down. It turns counter clockwise. So I laid the spool on the floor so that line was coming off counter clockwise but I continue to have the line try to jump off the spool when I flip up the bail. How can I prevent this?also does it even matter if there are twists in the mono when it is only backing. Thanks for any guidance

How Is The Booyah Pad Crasher Frog
One thing I think people forget is that the fish only sees the bottom of the frog. That means that the amazing paint jobs on a livetarget frog don't matter too much if the bottom is still just white or yellow. IMO the legs are more important than the paint job. That being said the Pad Crashers have a decent look to them and are deffinetely my go-to frog!

I Finally Did It! Thank You!!!
I wanted to make this post to thank Bass Resource and all of its members for all the help it has provided. I have been fishing for 3-4 years since I moved from California to Minnesota(more oppurtunities to fish here IMO). For 4 year I have been using a 6' uglystik with an old shimano solstace. I decided this was the year to step it up since fishing is my absolute passion. I posted many many topics on this forum trying to learn as much as i could and what everybody's opinnions were.... My Final Setup: *** black 6'7 medium-fast, Pflueger summit 6935 with 8 lb. seagur fluoro *** black 7'1 MediumHeavy-Fast, Lews Tournament Speed Spool with 50 lb. Power pro I put 50 lb. braid on the casting setup because it will be used for frogging and flippin/pitchin in some heavy cover. The spinning combo will be for wacky worms, jerkbaits, and spinnerbaits under 1/4 oz. I wasn't really considering 13 rods until I felt them at Cabelas and they were far superior in balance to any of the other 100$ options IMO. Thank you to everyone who gave me advice, I am so excited to catch some Largemouth!!!

St. Croix Triumph?
After checking out the specs of my vehicle, I've decided to heed some of your advice and get a one piece rod.

Cabelas Reel Sale?!
Okay thanks for the info

Cabelas Reel Sale?!
The Quantum Energy PTI reel is currently on sale for 60$ from 140$ at Cabelas. Seems kinda fishy that a reel would be priced so low, do you guys know if theres something wrong with the reel? Some complain about the lack of an anti revers switch but I don't really need that. Thanks so Much!

St. Croix Triumph?
Unfortunately there are no Bass Pros in Minnesota....What the heck Bass Pro!!!! closest one is in Iowa. What I do have is a Cabelas a half hour away and countless Dciks Sporting Goods, Gander Mountains. The veritas is on sale here too

St. Croix Triumph?
I've been using an ugly stik for the past 4 years. I deffinetely think its time to step it up since broomsticks are more sensitive than those rods. i mad a post earlier sking if there was a serious dip in sensitivity in two piece rods and the majority of people said that the difference is barely noticeable.

St. Croix Triumph?
If I were to go with a one piece, Id probably go with the mojo or abu garcia veritas, but a two-piece would be much more convienent. I don't live on a lake, and don't have a bass boat. i fish from a kayak but sometimes from shore and with a two-piece, I can travel in a car.

St. Croix Triumph?
I agree, if I pay an extra 40-50$, I want a better blank. I'd rather step up to the rage to get the sc-3 blank. Unfortunately I don't have that kind of cash right now.
