Thought this might be a fun. What is your first bait you throw when you get on a lake or pond and what colors do you like the best?

Whatever is tied onto the first rod I pick up. 

It depends on the lake, time of day, water color, weather, etc...

During the summer, on a calm morning I always start off with a Chugbug or Jitterbug.

Texas Rig,

1/4 oz bullet weight

3/0 straight shank round bend

Bassassin Bang Series 7.5" Tapout Black Blue Tail

Rage Tail Recon Falcon Lake Craw

At Daylight:

Lime Frog colored Rapala Skitterpop

 

Any other time:

Weightless texas rigged Watermelon Red Trick Worm

during spawn..usually a jig/craw

late spring thru fall-morning a topwater,usually a buzzbait   evening a lipless crank if alot of shad around shoreline or a fat ika if not

weightless watermelon or junebug trick worm

It depends on the lake, time of day, water color, weather, etc...

 

Ditto (unless I'm feeling lazy and then it's whatever I already have tied on)

Depending on where I am, it's usually a Texas rigged Zoom Fat Albert on a 2/0 Gamakatsu Offset Shank hook with around a 3/16-3/8oz tungsten bullet weight.

 1/2oz Bluegill or shad spinner bait,

Depends on time of year, but 90% of the time its gonna be a fluke, matched to the water, i like pearl white in the lakes with shad and i like watermelon red in lakes without.I can usually figure out where they are with the fluke, and if they arnt chasing it down to nail it i will switch it up. Slow when its cold and about as fast as i can work it when they are feeding in the shallows, if you wanna see some acrobatics work a fluke on top as fast as you can over submerged grass.

A jig. Size and color depend on the conditions on the water.

Usually a spinnerbait, green/white with willow leaf blades. Sometimes I start with a squarebill crank or a topwater frog depending on times of day/conditions.

White spinnerbait or buzzbait at sunup, soft plastics later in the day. Conditions dictate color & type.

My topwater BPS. XPS TOPNOCKER COLOR #25 chartreuse. Loaded with bass scent as far as I can cast it.

a lot of variables to the question, but i'd say since i usually hit the water before the sun is up it's probably a buzzbait and/or popper

It depends on a lot of things, but more times then not, I always have these 4 tied on from the beginning:

 

-jerkbait

-spinnerbait

-lipless crankbait

-weightless 5" Zoom fluke w/ 3/0 EWG hook.

Depends on a lot. I rarely start with the same unless I'm kayakin for fun not fishing. If the wife and I are kayaking I just bring a little dock demon pole my son wanted and tie on a fake salamander and troll with it until something destroys it and I reel it in. Other than that I think about it. But something about a fake pumpkin colored lizard trolling around at kayak speed that makes em go nuts.

Wow lots of difference, i knew it would be because different conditions etc.., just thought it would be interesting to see what people preferred!

Pretty broad question there. It depends on the time of the year, time of the day, water color, water temp etc. Most of the time, I'll start off with some type of moving bait and if I don't get bit pretty soon, I'll slow down with a jig or soft plastic.

More often than not, it's a jig for me.
