  1. I've always had much more success with them in the summer. during this early spring until the water hits 60ish I'm usually sticking with hard baits like rattletraps, jerk baits, etc
  2. seeing tons of bass cruising in the shallow parts of coves in Piney Run, especially the deep coves that have a lot of shallow, sunny spots but its very hard to entice a bite. my friend has had some success with a wacky rigged senko and i got a few on a lake fork "live" magic shad. Im hoping they start spawning relatively soon
  3. i just got a new duckett spinning rod so I'm looking for a good reel to go with it for <$100. I'm really leaning towards the shimano symetre 3000 but i just wanted to get some feedback before i did anything. thanks for the help
  4. I'm going to go try a bank fishing from a few small ponds around me tomorrow. water surface temp on the bigger lake was hovering around 50 on sunday so i assume the ponds will be somewhere around 55. its been rainy/windy the past few days so the visibility is probably around 3 feet. any suggestions on what I should use?
  5. Piney Run in Sykesville is not too far from ellicott city and IMO is the best lake around here between april and July (after july the hydrilla becomes overwhelming and the lake just becomes a pain to fish)
  6. 4"/5" junebug senkos, watermelon trick worms, white super fluke, strike king red eye shad, rebel pop-r.
  7. weightless watermelon or junebug trick worm
  8. square bill: strike king KVD 1.5 Lipless: Strike King red eye shad Jerkbait: Gary Yamamoto Tenkuu jerkbaits have great colors and action. Top Water: any popper but i use the bass pro XPS ones since they're cheapest
  9. stopped by centennial yesterday and saw it was half ice starting at the boat ramps going west but i saw a kayaker coming in and he said he caught a couple bass using a spinnerbait. has anyone else had any luck using them recently and how do you work them in the colder water? i assume you don't bring it straight in like you'd normally do?
  10. where is everyone getting these bucoos for $25? i checked walmarts in carroll county and haven't found them yet there all $80.
  11. I need to get setup with an alabama rig combo for cheap. I've got an older decent sized spinning reel i plan on using with 65lb braid but I'm stuck on a rod so ill probably have to end up getting a cheap one, and by cheap i mean like less than $40. I'm thinking a 7' MH BPS graphite series rod since they are on sale for $30 during the spring fishing classic sale. does this sound like an acceptable setup or do you have any suggestions??
  12. I have a 15' v hull fiberglass boat w/o a deck so it gets a little annoying bass fishing as i always have to be in the back of the boat to work the motor. I've decided to build a deck in the front and build a small mount on the bow to place my trolling motor but I'm not quite sure how to turn the head of my transom mount around so that the prop is facing the right way on the bow. any help would be great thanks
  13. got sucked in. bought the DT-20 version for deep summer bass and the lipless one to try out in the spring. interested to see if there is any difference between this and a KVD red eye shad. doubt it.
  14. tell me about it. spent $150 at tackle warehouse on a T3 ballistic, some crank baits, blade baits, roboworms and JJs magic. 6 days later i had to check out the bps spring fishing classic. somehow walked out of there spending $160 on all different types of crank baits and soft plastics, plus I'm heading back there this saturday to trade in a rod towards the JM signature series II ($90). I've already got more stuff than ill ever use in a fishing season but i just get hooked seeing the stuff.
