Hi all, I am looking to upgrade from my current 11' sit-in 'yak and get a bigger, sit-on-top boat and am hoping to get some opinions. Here are the things that (seemingly) are important to me: Longer boat. I want to fish some bigger water, and maybe have a 'yak that I can stand up in. Thinking 13-15 feet. Rod locker. I have seen multiple boats that have a rod locker that can be accessed between your legs, and it is something that I think I really want, as I like to have ~5 rods and don't want the clutter/chance of losing them overboard. Speed. I want something that is easy to paddle, and will get up to a decent clip relatively quick. Based off of this criteria, some of the leading candidates are: Ocean Kayak: Big Game Prowler II Trident Ultra 4.3 (No Rod Locker - big downside). Wilderness Systems: Thresher 140 ATAK Ride 135 (No Rod Locker - big downside) I have paddled a few older Ocean Kayaks, and was very pleased with how they handled, and I have never paddled a Wilderness Systems 'yak. If anyone has any experience with any of the models I have listed, or any other suggestions, I would very much so like to hear from you. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I am looking at getting a new yak finally, and had a few questions. First off, does anyone here have a Trident 13? If so, how does it paddle? How big of a rod will I be able to fit in the rod pod? Is there anything else you think I should know about this yak? This is the leading candidate in my search this far. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I am currently in the market for a rod to handle my crankbaits. Never really done any crankbait fishing, but I plan on doing some lipless along with squarebill and a little deeper diving stuff. I already have a baitcaster to go on it. What length, action and stiffness should I look into? I am looking at the BPS Bionic Blades right now.

I forget the site, but I remember finding some place that makes custom trolling motors for a bunch of different kayak's.... hopefully someone here knows which site I am talking about. I will keep looking too.

Depending on where I am, it's usually a Texas rigged Zoom Fat Albert on a 2/0 Gamakatsu Offset Shank hook with around a 3/16-3/8oz tungsten bullet weight.

Hey guys, Where is the best place to order bulk tungsten? I am looking specifically for Bullet weights and skinny/ball drop shot weights. I'm sick of paying $5-8 for 3 or less weights!

Haven't tried any yet, but stocked up on them this past winter... I will say that my Xcalibur ones sure are pretty!

I generally don't leave my stuff in my car either, the ski's always came out this past winter and the poles usually will too... but if I know I will be using them again later that day or early the next morning I feel like it would be nice to have the option of leaving them in. Still debating the best option a little, have to decide soon though, heading back to school with my gear Sunday afternoon/evening (hoping for some nice weather here in NY... haha).

Thanks for all the input guys! My main issue is that being at college, I would like to leave my rods in the car while driving around with others, or just when having more than one person in the car with me, I am too worried of breaking off the tips/eyes.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! I don't think the straps that go from hanger to hanger will work in my vehicle, so I may end up using the PVC pipe idea. I really appreciate it!

Hey guys, I have a 2009 Subaru Forester, and I was just wondering if anyone had some tips as to the best way for transporting some of my one piece rods. From the inside of the back gate to the back of the front seats (with the rear seats down) measures 6ft. Thanks!

I would really like to know how this boat performs. I have been looking at it and like it, but I want something that paddles easy and is fairly fast. I currently have a 11' sit inside Necky and want something that is as easy to paddle as the Ocean Kayaks. $350 is a steal.

From what I have heard, Ranger makes a much better product. And what I have learned is that when you're spending so much money as it is, spend a little more and get something much better and you'll be happier in the long run.

Generally the buddy would be my size or smaller. I think the best way to combat that would be just put them in my old yak if they want to paddle along. What does everyone recommend as far as a fishing kayak? Right now I am most interested in the Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 or some of the Wilderness Systems and the Native Watercraft Manta Ray.

I was hoping to get some opinions on this. I currently have an older sit-in kayak that isn't very easy to fish from. I have been thinking about upgrading to a small Jon boat a lot, but the fact that it would be heavier, potentially require a trailer depending on the size (don't know how much longer I will have my track) and looks like it will cost substantially more based on what I want to spend have me thinking about getting a bit bigger sit on top kayak. I would like to take someone with me occasionally which is another reason why I would like the Jon boat, but for as much as that would happen I don't know if its worth it. Also, the boat would probably be slightly more roomy. Thoughts?

I have a question to add to this. This summer I am considering co-angling. For Christmas I was lucky enough to get a Browning backpack that holds 4 Plano 3650 boxes and your lunch, along with an Abu Garcia Veritos tackle bag that holds 4 boxes approximately 13.5" x 8.5" big. Is it too much to bring both with you, or should I stick to one or another?

I need some help deciding what crankbaits to purchase. I currently don't have hardly any in my arsenal and am looking to get better at fishing them as I am considering being a co-angler in some tournaments this year. I am basically looking for some basic styles, colors, sizes and brands to get me started... there are just so many choices! Thanks!

I was hammering them on a chartreuse 1/4 oz rooster tail last night.

Was actually 16.5" but I will take 15 if necessary due to my visible error with the tape measure.

I like BASS better simply because I know more of the competitors. And I am with zell_pop1, I am not an A-Rig fan.

I can without question recommend the Shimano Sedona. Got mine a few years back and still works great. Plus it's a ton of fun.

Well, even though it's embarrassing, I wanted to get on the board... lol. I had about an hour this morning and decided to stop at a little pond that was stocked earlier this summer... and the result: 5.5 inches... I think that is my personal record for smallest bass!

I might have to join the fun if I can find some time to get out on the water! Wish I had some pics of the little ones I got this past week, would at least get me on the board!

Just got back into fishing after a 2-3 year hiatus. Brought this home from Bass Pro with me yesterday along with some other tackle I had run out of this past week. Shimano Sahara 3000 FE on a 7' BPS Tourney Special rod. Not as high dollar as some people have but I am excited to try it out hopefully later this week.
