Widerness Ride 115~Adding A Trolling Motor

Featured Replies

I bought a Ride 115x recently so I could fish again but I am finding that my back that I recently had surgery on it not so fond of the stresses put on it paddling and I would rather not complicate the issues with my back any further.

I have my kayak set up on a small low trailer for launching and retrieving and that works well for me.

I noticed that the stern of the 115x is squared off and wondered if anyone makes a trolling motor mount for that location?

I forget the site, but I remember finding some place that makes custom trolling motors for a bunch of different kayak's.... hopefully someone here knows which site I am talking about.

I will keep looking too.

Were you thinking of this outfit?  http://bassyaks.com/

They seem a little pricey to me and I think I could recreate what they have done a lot cheaper.

I made my own similar to bassyaks. also google the skimmer they have one for kayaks also

I wanted a bassyak until I saw the price. I made one very similar for my nucanoe for around 200 bucks. Very easy to do.

It would appear that I might be better off just to make one myself copying one of the designs. The skimmer is $400 compared to the Bassyak at $500.

I think I will just pick up a used trolling motor and take it from there.

Bass yaks are WAY expensive. A gut on Kayakbassfishing.com jus did the exact thing to a Ride 115. It came out great. He said he has less than $250 in it. Todd

I bought a bassyak for my ultimate.  Complete waste of money, horrid instructions, missing parts, wrong parts, poorly designed parts, the list goes on and on.  I ended up throwing most of the supplied items away and doing my own thing.  I ended up pretty much only using the metal motor bracket and the wire along with my trolling motor.  Live and learn I guess but buyer beware.
