  1. Anyone use these rods? I'd rather buy this than the Premiers since the only difference is where they're built and the guides. I'd be getting a 6'6 medium-fast two piece for wacky worms and hard jerkbaits. What i mainly care about is sensitivity for the weightless worms... Thanks for any help
  2. I'm now considering the Triump rods as well. It would be better if I could get a two piece rod and those rods come in two piece models. What makes the Premier better than the triumph? I've heard that is the guides, also the premier is made in U.S.A Thanks!
  3. I am in the market for a new spinning rod that will be used for wacky worms and hard jerkbaits.I will be getting a 6'6 Medium Power/fast action rod. I am debating between the St. Croix Premier(130$) and the Abu Garcia Veritas(on sale for 80$). The Veritas would be 50$ cheaper which is huge for me but I would have to get extra-fast action(Thats okay with me). Which rod would you guys reccomend? P.S. I used to hear a lot about the Veritas line breaking, is that still an issue? Not a huge concern because they have great customer service but still... Thanks for any advice
  4. I've decided on going straight fluoro, now I just need to decide 8 or 10 lb. test...
  5. A friend gave me some insight, and if I go straight fluoro, I'm going with 8lb. test.
  6. Al Lindner, Jimmy Houston
  7. I fish Booyah Hotwires and Pond Magics, never had a problem with wires snapping, Booyah is a fantastic company!
  8. Yes many people reccomend braid with FC leaer for finesse fishing, but will this work well for jerkbaits?
  9. I posted a similar topic earlier but now know more about my set-up. I need a line for my 6'6 medium power fast action spinning combo that will be used for wacky-worms and hard jerkbaits. I'm debating between 10-12lb. fluorocarbon, or 20 lb. braid with a fluoro leader. Keep in mind that here in Minnesota the lakes I fish are all dirty and stained. I don't really need invisibility so much as i need sinking line that wont screw up the wacky worms action. I'd was going with the 12 lb. fluoro but am worried it may be too heavy for wackies..any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Thanks everybody! For those asking why I cared, I wanted to know how much backing to put underneath 75-100 yds of the actual braid
  11. I'm confused about the true Braid to mono equivelant. I'm reffering to Power Pro Braid, on Cabelas website, Power Pro says that the ratios are:(braid:mono) 15:4 20:6 30:8 etc... However Shimanos website contradicts this. Shimano says that a 2500 size reel will hold 140 yards of 8 lb. mono but only 95 yards of 30 lb. Power Pro. If the ratios were correct than the reel should be able to hold the same amount of 8 lb. mono as 30 lb. braid...Any light on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
  12. I am wondering how to know if a rod and reel are balanced well. I have heard of placing your finger where the cork or composite meets the blank and it should balance out, is this an accurate way? The reason I ask is I'm in the market for a pflueger president and am debating between the 6930 and 6935. For instance, if I buy the St. Croix premier 6'6 medium power fast action, the rod says it can handle 6-12 wt. line. The pflueger 6930 reccomends 4-8 wt. line and the 6935 reccomends 6-10 wt. line. This would make me think the 6935 is the way to go but most people reccomend the 6930.... Thanks so much for any avice
  13. I looked up the Yo-Zuri Hybrid, looks like really nice line. Would you guys reccomend using that excusively or using it as a leader?(keep in mind I'll be fishing some cranks as well and they sure love to snag)
  14. I meant for the wacky worms, and most of the time I'll try to hit the edge of the cover, but as I'm 14 losing any lure is big to me. Thats why I tend to prefer braid. I'm thinking 20# braid with a flouro leader when fishing wacky worms, I know its not ideal for cranks and jerks, but it what I'm confident and comfortable with.
  15. Yes Straight fluoro would be ideal, but as I'll be fishing any lure to small for my baitcaster with it as well, I'd like braid as my main line. Here in Minnesota, I fish some pretty heavy cover(the thickest stuff I can find.
  16. After doing some research, I'm leaning towards 20 or 30 lb. braid with a 8lb. fluoro leader when fishing wacky
  17. I'm wondering what type of line to get for my spinning rod and reel. Haven't bought them yet, but it will be pflueger president 6930 and a 6'6 medium-fast rod. I'll be primarily fishing wacky worms, but will also throw small 1/4 oz. spinnerbaits, cranks and jerkbaits. What type of line and lb. test would be best for primarily wacky fishing but also the others? Thanks so much for any help!
  18. Hey Everybody, I'm in the market for a new spinning rod an baitcasting rod. I'm looking at st. croix premiers, abu garcia veritas, fenwick HMX,etc... I'm wondering if there is a big difference in sensitivity between one and two-piece rods. The baitcsating rod doesn't need to be terribly sensitive, as I'll be using it mostly for topwater frogs and spinnerbaits, but the spinning rod needs to be sensitive enough for weighltess wacky-worming. A two-piece would be worlds more convienent but I'm willing to sacrifice convienence if they are not sensitive. Thank you all for any help, Bass Resource has been a God-sent
  19. Thank you everybody for the advice, I'm gonna go with a medium power fast action. Hopefully I can find an Avid on sale, otherwise it will probably be a premier.
  20. I'm looking for a spinning rod to pair with a pflueger president 6930 or 6935. I plan on only having one spinning combo in my yak so i need something pretty versatile. Something that will cover wacky worms, small texas rigs, spinnerbits 1/4 oz. and smaller, anything too small for a baitcaster. I know extra-fast action is best for wacky worming but will that be sufficient for small spinnerbaits? I'm thinking a meium power, would you suggest 6'6, 6'8, or 7'? I know I will either purchase an abu garcia veritas, st. croix mojo bass, or st. croix premier. Say I decided on the mojo bass, would the wacky worm or tubes and grubs model be best? I know this was a lot of questions so thank you to anyone who offers some help.
  21. nice in theory but I don't see how they would fit into my bag with other 3600s, I would have to carry it extra
  22. I'm thinking the Bass Pro Shops Tackle Binder
  23. I'm upgrading my tackle storage situation this year and am wondering how you guys store your spinnerbaits and buzzbaits? Have any of you tried the plano FTO boxes? My bag could fit a couple of the 3600 sizes of that. I tend to use 3/8 oz. and 1/2 oz. spinnerbaits. I either fish from shore using my bag or from a kayak with everything in a milk crate. I've heard of guys using cd binders, my bag could maybe fit those in the side pockets.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
