  1. the simple probelm with american cars and japanese cars is this, in the early 80's with the introduction of mass electronic equipment into the car the japanese designed things much much better then the american engineers. Bottom line was thier electronics were more durable. As far as engine blocks and trans go I have had problems with both american and japanese cars but by far more problems with chrysler transmission - 5 of them. when my japanese trans would have problems it would simply be synchros in one gear and all the others were fine, the chrysler would just stop all together. when it comes to cars and all around performence and reliability then i go with japanese, when i want a off road vehicle I am getting a jeep(soon!!!!).
  2. yes fishing is a little cruel in a way, but aside from hooking the fish which for bass because of the way thier jaw is composed i do not think it is equal to hooking a person/mamal. The main difference is Vick intentionally brought pain to this animal in a inhumane way. If he did not want the dog he could have had it put to sleep. As far as the dogfighting goes that is wrong to me and should be to most people I would think. Catch and release fishing is different, YES we hook the fish but as soon as you land it you should take the best care possible handeling the fish to ensure it's safe return to the water so that it can live and be caught again. Fishing for food is natural and I am pretty sure that no one tortures thier fish before they kill them, dog fighting involves torture of the dogs to train them. yes I AM A VEGETARIAN(sort of) but i fish and I will only eat things I kill myself. AND YES I HATE PETA i think they are all morons.
  3. TEN WORST LARGE CITIES FOR MURDER, 2002 CITY PER 100,000 (1) Washington, DC 45.8 (2) Detroit 42.0 (3) Baltimore 38.3 (4) Memphis 24.7 (5) Chicago 22.2 (6) Philadelphia 19.0 (7) Columbus 18.1 (8) Milwaukee 18.0 (9) Los Angeles 17.5 (10) Dallas 15.8 TEN WORST STATES FOR MURDER, 2003 STATE PER 100,000 (1) Louisiana 13.0 (2) Maryland 9.5 (3) Mississippi 9.3 (4) Nevada 8.8 (5) Arizona 7.9 (6) Georgia 7.6 (7) South Carolina 7.2 (8) California 6.8 (9) Tennessee 6.8 (10) Alabama 6.6 More American troops have now been deployed to Baghdad to help suppress the violence there, which is generally seen as unacceptably high. Today's news includes the usual body count, mostly from Baghdad. In July, there were around 1,500 violent deaths in Baghdad and 3,500 nationwide. The latter number is consistent with the often-heard statement that around 100 people a day are murdered in Iraq, most in sectarian violence. Out of curiosity, I did a little research to get some perspective on these numbers. Based on a population of 6,000,000, an annualized murder rate of 1,500 per month in Baghdad yields 300 per 100,000 population, the usual measure by which murder rates are expressed. This is a high number of course, since it assumes that the record level of violence in July is sustained for 12 months. For purposes of comparison, I looked up historic murder rates for some American cities. Washington, D.C. has historically had one of the highest murder rates among American cities. It peaked at 80 per 100,000 in 1991. So in July, Baghdad experienced a murder rate close to four times what we had in the nation's capital fifteen years ago. At 140 per 100,000, Iraq's murder rate in July is a little under twice Washington, D.C.'s 1991 rate. Another interesting comparison: Baghdad's July rate is a little lower than the 350 per 100,000 murder rate at which Medellin, Colombia peaked, also in 1991. just some information i looked up

  5. drakedeming replied to John J.'s topic in Everything Else
that is true, but i know electricians need to take continued education which is similiar to college just without the added crap that has no relationship to your degree. So you might say they are going to college also.
  6. drakedeming replied to John J.'s topic in Everything Else
college was the the greatest 8 years of my life, enjoy it while you can cause once you are done no more sleeping in and no more slacking off all summer.
  7. Join the military then. I have lived in some pretty "bad" areas(D.C. and P.G. county MD) and I find that most of the time the bad reputation is just hype about the area. If you do not mess with people they usually will not mess with you back. Basically don't go slinging rocks on some other guys corner and if someone says hi to you acknowledge them and say hi back. The worst thing people do is just ignore other people on the street cause they think the person might be a "criminal", that is just insulting to the person.
  8. i love that pic of the eastern king snake.
  9. that is a great blue heron, it's on our chesapeake bay license plates in maryland, I see them everytime i fish and they will eat anything!
  10. it took my almost an hour and a half and i finished the quiz, will finish it again later today and take a screen shot. O yeah there is a horrible nasty surprise on the last question, i almost threw my keyboard through my monitor cause i missed it and had to start all over!
  11. that could get real bad because some peoples definition of life threating, sy you are getting robbed at gun point and you pull your gun out to shoot the perp, somone else could see you pulling your gun out and see that it was aimed in thier general direction and thier life is in danger then they shoot you! The only real solution is for people to stop acting like idiots and not commit crimes, but that will never happen(unless we can eliminate poverty, even then there would still be some crime)
  12. yeah if you are not eating them, then it is messed up, unless you shoot a giant fish and get it stuffed or something. I could see that being ok.
  13. I saw a video on peta's website( i like to see what the enemy is thinking) about bowhunting carp. These guys had about 20 carp in a trashcan on thier boat. My question is when bow hunting for carp or gar, do the bow hunters eat them or do they just kill them. I think it would be fine to bow hunt a couple of carp and not eat them but these guys had a very large amount. any insight on this would be nice thanks
  14. drive less, carpool, buy a hybrid(if you can afford one)
  15. The drilling in Alaska would presumably take place in an area that would not affect any of the wildlife. thats fine then as long as they can keep it clean, cause as soon as they start pumping oil appears in the enviroment.
  16. i'd rather see 10$ a gallon then drill in alaska (one of the most pristine places on earth) sorry for anyone who thinks otherwise it's just my opinion
  17. thanks alot, once i buy it next week i will post pics, also i need to get a tow hitch any ideas?
  18. I am going to be buying a 14 or 16 foot john boat and am not sure about a few things. I drive a 95 eagle talon all wheel drive turbo 4 cylinder that produces 220 hp and about the same for torque. The 14 foot john boat weighs 155 and i am trying to find out about the 16 and the trailers. Would my car be able to tow these? and if not i was going to buy a 76 cj5 jeep with a 4.2 liter which i'm sure can tow them. Also What horsepower engine should i buy for each boat?? I already have an electic motor and a fish finder and plan on carpeting the boat. thanks
  19. i caught a 40lb tuna in hawaii when i was 11. after fighting it i feel asleep on the boat for a couple hours until my dad got a marlin!
  20. best advice i got about an accident was after my first one. "cars can be fixed people cannot"

  22. there really is not any way of nowing whether or not she did something wrong, we are not thier monitoring thier relationship.
  23. all i could find was to contact to advertise. if there is another way pleae let me know. thanks
  24. am i allowed to put a link to my bass fishing blog in my signature as long as there are no advertisements on my blog or anything of that sort? My blog is simply a page for my wife and i to post pics and stories of our fishing trips. I created it and hopde i could share it with the forum but then saw the rule about no linking to other sites.
  25. Transplanting is a bad idea in my opinion. I am pretty sure it is illegal in almost every state, for good reason. You could transplant a fish that has a disease and then wipe out the population of your pond. Also your pond could not support a fish that is larger then the other fish. In Maryland you can call the dnr and they will come and ***** your lake and stock it for you if it meets criteria and I think it might even be free! Just think real hard about it before you do this.
