  1. so far everything I have read, it wouldn't be worth getting a patent on, but just some way to keep someone from buying one and duplicating it. I Don't know. I am super excited about it, because I know it will catch fish, it will be designed specifically for river fisherman. but will also be something to use in lakes
  2. So to make a long story short, I am an adamant Deer hunter and smallmouth Fisherman on the river. To show my love for both, I worked two jobs throughout my twenties and still do in my mid 30's, and bought 100 acres on a local river in the heart of a great area for smallmouth fishing. So prior to this I fished for smallmouth here and there, but due to the lack of public access, it was hard, but now I fish it when the river level permits. So after 5 years of fishing I found a jig head that the brown fish absolutely love, but sometimes hook sets area problem as durability. So a good friend of mine is a great machinest and he is helping me with a design, that in my opinion will help with hooksets and also not destroy the plastics as much. So with this being said should I try to copyright/patent or what?? I've also talked to a lawyer, but I don't want to spend a lot of money as I would love to make and sell some baits, but don't want to be in legal battles, but also dont' want someone stealing my idea??? Thanks guys I will also note that some might think its dumb, but with the amount of time I've spent on the river, in currents it will work great, and if I do get into selling it, I'd like to sell it myself(on forums like this) and make approximately $1 per jig head after all work is done. After doing the math, each one will cost me approximately 35=40 cents if everything I buy is in bulk, and that includes paint, hooks, bait keeper, wire guard, lead.
  3. Cabelas has a sale on inshore travel rods. Heard they are nice, don't have one personally but can't beat that price. I'd guess it's an all star or Penn rod. http://www.cabelas.com/product/CABELAS-SALT-STRIKER-INSHORE-TRAVEL-SPINNING-RODS/2378210.uts?slotId=2
  4. Not sure what else it offers, but looks like it came out 2014, but don't see much written about, came across a deal on some so I'm,going to give it a whirl. Haven't received,it yet. The videos of the testers say it's the best, but that's also why they receive it so I don't know
  5. Curious if anyone's tried this line. Been a fireline fan for years, still am only negative is the fraying after about 5 months of use. Have a friend that suggests this spiderwire, think this is a new model curious if anyone has used it, likes it ???
  6. My son is 3 1/2 and fishes with me all the time in the Broad River, it started with teaching him he has to give the fish a kiss before letting them go, and now its turned into a whole hug and kiss, haha. He can also catch the tar out of some fish as well. My Sons Monster fish
  7. I have 2 supreme XT's and love them, Only thing I've had issues with is they'll tighten up some with heavy use after two years(River fishing 3-5 times a week for about 5 months), so just oil them regularly. But as far as handling fish I have the 2000 series and have landed several 4+lb smallies.
  8. hey bud tried looking up the baitcast Aetos you mentioned and wasnt' able to find it, are you referring the Medium rated Aetos????
  9. Thanks guys that's what I had figured, use for jerk baits, ned/finesse rigs, light poppers and what not. I appreciate all the input guys. thanks
  10. Curious if anyone uses med light casting rods and what types of bait you throw??
  11. 5" black zoom Super fluke with a circle hook through the nose
  12. He went some with me last year I'd set the hook and hed reel in on his own this year I've given him a rod with a circle hook and a fluke. He doesn't cast He flips the bell back n forth until I tell him to quit and he usually gets hit letting the fluke drift. It's Awesome. And he's suprisingly ry good at reeling in fish
  13. Tried to post picture of fish but can't figure it out on this site. Apparently every pic I take is too big
  14. So I basically need to fish it like I would fish a fly, just let the current drift it down stream and mend the line every once in a while. Is this correct??
  15. yeah i'm asking about weight, sorry. But yeah I understand the fact you want it to look natural. I fly fish a lot and that presentation works great, but I feel when I fish the TRD its something that you would want to get on the bottom, just my opinion, but if yall think the lighter would work similar to a fly I would be more than glad to try it. Thanks for all of the responses
  16. I ordered some 1/10's and 1/6's, hopefully I'm just not blowing money its a huge river and it moves quick where I fish
  17. what size zman shroom head do you use 1/6 1/10 or 1/15
  18. I fish a river that has some good current, and I keep hearing about the Z-Man TRD's and I have a pack, but I just don't know what kind of hook I could actually use them on to fish seeing how the water is moving so much, I feel the 1/6oz still might not be heavy enough, but wanted to see what you guys think.
  19. bought some owner twist locks, they actually seemed to work better than the other brands(By Far). Thanks for the input, the owner hooks even make more sense when looking at how the hook would actually set compared to gamakatsu
  20. I'm an avid fluke fisherman, fishing the 5" zoom super fluke in the river. I want to say I've noticed this before, but really caught my attention the other day. I threw on a weighted EWG 4/0 twistlock hook, as I was fishing some heavy current(recently fishing a 3/0 weighted EWG hook not twist lock not missing any fish) Anyways once I put that twistlock on I could not set the hook on a fish to save my life and the hook would never set out of the fluke. Happened about 4 times in 10 minutes on decent fish. anyone else ever have this problem(I set the tick out of the bait, I use fireline, and I bring my hook all the way out and only bury the tip in the back of the fluke) anyways any advise would be greatly appreciated
  21. Tried 3/0 gammy circle today but son didn't have any luck. I feel like a redream hook in my river makes a huge difference. Anyone else notice hook color
  22. I use shrink tubing on my wacky rigs. You think I should do 1/0 using the shrink tubing
  23. Yeah I figured circle was pretty much of lying way to go but you never know what else someone has rigged up. But would love to know good brand circle and size for 4 &5" senko
