  1. I still use them in colder water. Like the smaller ones on a hair jig
  2. The 15A in "Bone" really shines late fall to mid-winter in TVA highland reservoirs.Keep the retrieve slow enough to have it make a v-wake on top. Have caught a ton of fish on them all the way down to 42-43 degrees as the weather gets colder. keep a weightless senko/dinger rig up on another rod as a lot of smallmouth will hammer this from straight under and not hook up. throw the senko/dinger back to where they missed and let it slow fall.Pick up a lot of the misses this way.Bluff walls are great, but when first few cold fronts of late fall early winter come in, look for points that wind is blowing into. The v-wake action against the chop makes it get smoked by the fish.
  3. +1 if something breaks , i want it to be the line from a "son of Cheops" hookset by me
  4. Bomber Fat Free shad Deep Square Lip
  5. split the tail 90% of the time. the other 10% is when bite is slow , as in after a front
  6. As the night fishing starts to heat up, i like throwing a BIG JIG along with big ribbon tail worm, short arm spinner, and also keep a hair jig with a zoom chunk tied on for smallies
  7. jigs, T-rig craw, soft swimbaits, and shakeyheads
  8. I have used the hooks with the worm weight you are talking about and seemed to get hung more often than with a regular worm weight either loose or pegged with bobber stop.
  9. I'm a P-Line fan. Very abrasion resistant
  10. My guess is that the line is causing majority of the problem. I had nothing but bad luck with the line you are using. Premium floro costs more but you get what you pay for
  11. Didn't see this post till today. I live on cherokee if you have another trip later this year. I fish it 2-4 days a week all year.
  12. Find some hand-poured baits and try them on it. The ones without salt added will float
  13. I tried them last year and don't care for them. Aside from the problem of filling up with water, they had a tendency to roll over.
  14. With a shakey head, less is more. When a front comes through or the bite is tough for whatever reason, a shakey head will often outfish anything else i throw. Since we are in spawning season, a 4" finesse worm on a small shakey head is killer this time of year.
  15. Go fish and don't worry about it. One of you needs to be happy, just saying.
  16. What was water temp? If its still faily cool, try smaller with a feather on treble hook. After a pop or two, let it sit and let feather slowly expand
  17. Some great choices listed here. would add a Bomber Long-A and v-wake it on top along rip-rap
  18. I seldom use a regular worm hook. Use mostly EWG 4/0 or larger hook.
  19. I tried it and didn't like it much. Have been using P-Line floro and the co-polymer. They have been a much better choice for me.
  20. Before you get one, check the estimated fuel ratings especially if you are looking at a 4wd. Many full size have similar or better MPG ratings than mid/small truck/suv in 4wd option.
  21. Fished a submerged island in a tourney last weekend 30 feet off the buoy marker that marked the upstream end of it and as i'm casting on it cranking off the side into deeper water, a pontoon infested with local shallow gene pool offspring motors between my boat and buoy marker right over top of where i was casting. Ahh, spring.
  22. check to see if the chip has cracked it and if it is filling with water. livetarget is my favorite lipless crank. have several that have no paint or eyes left and they still catch fish
  23. Our nearest BPS sponsors a local High School Trail
  24. I have mine mounted on a Minn Kota Edge with no issues
  25. I have to vote for Boone Lake here in East Tennessee. 5000 acres, 10,000 jet skis and pontoon boats.
