  1. Hair jigs for LMB. Found a guy that makes some nice ones.
  2. Casual fishing? Pfleuger President (25 or 30) spooled up with your choice of line. Right now I just have BPS Excel Mono 6lb. Mounted on a Shimano Sellus 6ft Travel rod. Good balance....light enough to throw all day. I got this set up to for Crappie, Bluegill and Finesse stuff. I also take it when I'm just going to the local park pond for an hour or so after work. Right at $100 bucks with none of it on sale. It's gets done what I need it to and it's very portable. ps...I would NOT want to tie into a Muskie on this set up.
  3. Yep...the double hook old school one. I figured it was plain but I might try a few things with it.
  4. Picked a few up...different colors and blade set ups. My question is on trailers....do you use them on this bait? Can you put a couple of minnows on them or is is best not to use one. They are old school and I like them, I just need a little guidance on them.
  5. Pretty much this exactly
  6. I use the VMC Drop Dead Hooks for a lot of my T-Rig presentations. Check em out on TW. Other than that, Gammy 3/0, 4/0, 5/0 EWG's. A few other drop shot and shaky head and wacky specialty hooks.
  7. You should definitely be getting more distance than that. Can I ask a question that is NOT meant to offend you? Are you sure you have all those brakes disabled? This was an issue for me when I got my PQ. I wasn't sure which setting was which. Quite simply, if they are "Clicked back" they are turned off. If they are free floating, they are turned on. Sorry if this is NOT an issue for you. Not trying to be condescending. I love my PQ but it took me more than 6 uses to get it really dialed in.
  8. ketchup will remove tarnish, too.
  9. I guess I'm lucky. My wife encourages my hobby as I do hers. We buy what we want when it doesn't affect us negatively in any way. I DO have a bit of a vintage tackle jones but I just buy what I like. I'm not looking to have anything ultra rare or anything like that. I also like hand made cranks and the like. Like anything else, you gotta approach it with a modicum of sense. If you have to decide between tackle and food, you have a problem.
  10. Stay the course, young Padawan. The choices you make now will establish a pattern for you for the rest of your life. There are many times in a man's life when he wants to quit. Whether it's a tough college course, a crappy job (that he needs), a rough patch in a marriage...even life itself can become overwhelming at times and some feel tempted to pack it in. If it's something worth fighting for, winners don't quit. They embrace the challenge and forge ahead through the fire and come out stronger and smarter on the other side. A month and a half of your life is NOTHING (even though it may seem like an eternity now). Ask yourself this...."2 months from now will I be happy I wrestled or will I regret it?" Unless you somehow are able to foresee an injury or it could compromise your health, the answer to this question is very clear. Learn now to be a winner....a guy that can be depended upon...a guy that sticks to his obligations. That guy will get taken advantage of once in a while as he goes though life but that guy will ALWAYS be a winner. Be that guy my .02
  11. I fish braid.....period. If I'm in an area where I might get hung up a lot or crystal clear water, I might use a Fluoro leader.
  12. # 1 is get a boat. Don't want or need anything fancy. # 2 work on my finesse technique
  13. This is, of course, right. I don't "HATE" any technique and I need to revisit the buzzbait. Just never had any luck with them.
  14. Just never had any luck on them. No confidence in them at all
  15. No hate for buzz baits? I gave up on those years ago.
  16. Daiwa Silvercast. My last Spincast before seeing the light. Good, rugged reel that I still use occasionally if I'm just going to catch some dinks at a local park pond for an hour or so. My PB was actually caught on it Cheaper than either of those and easy to use.
  17. *shakes head*
  18. I'm guessing I'm from a different generation but my phone STAYS HOME when I fish. I also don't carry a camera . I don't think I've ever taken a picture of a fish I've caught and I don't have any special skills that would interest anyone. I fish to get AWAY from all that. GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
  19. 100% agree. I have no problem checking a fool. I just make sure they ARE a fool that needs checked first.
  20. Just an FYI...I bought 2 of this guys baits. They are NOT hand painted by this guy. They are Chinese swim baits with cloth "hinges". I didn't pay a huge amount for them and I actually do think they look ok and I thnk they WILL catch pike and muskie if the action is any good..... but just be aware. These are NOT custom baits. I found several more of this exact lure shipping from all over the world when I really started looking. I'm NOT saying the guy is a con artist....just that things may not be as they seem.
  21. I've been annoyed by morons. My fave is the guy that comes with all his kids and let's them run amok while he sits and fishes (drinks beer). They get in the water, mess with your stuff, etc. With that said, I have a little different take. Earlier in the year, I had the pleasure of helping a young man with a young family with some new tackle. A lot of it was donated by you guys here. I met him because he was fishing the same public pond one day and saw me catch a decent bass. He came over and immediately started fishing beside me...even crossing me. At first I was irritated until I talked to him a little and realized that he might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer. All I had to do was remind him to give me some space so we could both fish and he immediately did. Long story short, I made a friend. Same thing at the same pond in 2013. Met a different kid that was the same way although this kid was, I believe, mentally retarded. (Not trying to offend anyone with that, nor am I making fun of him). I would remind him to not get so close and he would happily back off. Rather than being mad, I assessed the situation for what it was and decided to have some compassion. In both cases, I made friends and am happy to see either one of them when I go. The guy I gave the tackle to has become a regular fishing buddy and we go to different places together....something he might not ordinarily get to do.
  22. Nope. I have gone out and realized I didn't have my wallet. I left. I know out local CO and would undoubtedly get away with it. She knows I have one. Not the point. I try to be a good steward and an example. Not carrying your license is neither of those.
  23. Goose21......may I ask where you are from? I ask only because I've suffered from spinal degeneration for my entire life. About 5 years ago, it got so bad I resigned myself to a life of pain and being hooked on painkillers. Suicide was an option, as well. I went from doctor to doctor only to be told that nothing could be done. There was too much damage. I even asked them to paralyze me from the waist down . I could barely walk anyway and was in constant crippling pain. Finally, I was referred to KU Med in Kansas City where I saw a Doctor (Dr. Douglas Burton) that took one look at my MRI's and said "Oh sure.....I do these surgeries all the time. I can help you". Long story short, he fixed me. I live now with relatively little pain (Advil) and am completely free of prescription meds for the first time in 30 years. (I'm 47). I'm not saying don't sell your stuff. Only you can make that decision, but I can tell you that the idea of fishing, being outside, and all the other things that most people have the luxury of taking for granted, kept me going when the pain and misery were almost overwhelming. FYI...I referred my Father in Law to Dr. Burton and he got relief from neck pain/headaches that he had suffered from for 50 years. Keep the faith, Brother, and don't give up hope.
