For me lately, it's been seeing some really nice looking baits from small bait producers on FB. Hand poured baits in custom colors and custom jigs. I've got a ton of stuff lately from these kind of guys and have some really, really nice stuff. Plus, you're doing business with guys or gals with families that are doing something they put a lot of pride into. Win, win.

Anybody ever use the water or oil from canned tuna to scent their baits. For the life of me, I can't see why this wouldn't work. Sure it would stink but I would think in a way that bass would like. Any thoughts?

And the thing that irritates me about BPS is being hounded to talk about a vacation. Leave me the hell alone. If I wanted a vacation I'd be over there talking to you.

I picked up a Medium Fast Sellus Spinning rod from Wally World for $50 to pair with my Pfleuger President. Not a huge spinning guy but need it for finesse and lighter stuff. I really, really like this combo. For less than $120 I got a combo that fishes nice and I think will last me a long time.

Check out the VMC Drop Dead hooks for this. I put a Culprit Fat Max (I like Pumpkin Seed) on these and it's just deadly. They glide through the water and then flutter down horizontally on the pause. For me a perfect combo.

9" Pumpkin Seed Fat Max on a VMC Drop Dead Hook. If you can't catch fish on that...go home. I ALSO like Culprit's Fire and Ice color in their regular ribbontail...whatever size you like to throw.

I have Livetarget, Booyah, and Scumfrog Trophy series in my box. Of all of them, the one I have the most confidence in is the Scumfrog. They just flat catch fish for me. They also have a new one that walks the dog fairly well. Not dissin the other as I have got my share on those, too, but the Scumfrog works for me.

All of the above. I buy the best equipment I CAN COMFORTABLY AFFORD for the skill level and the water access I have right now. That includes quality line and terminal tackle. It would make no sense for me to have a $800 reel on a $600 rod but a $150 reel on a $100 rod? Yep..and I'm happy as a clam with what I got. Buy the best you can afford. No more...no less.

At first glance, the idea of testing roadkill for CWD seems like a good one. The rest of this is crap. I happily pay for my licenses and the extra taxes that are earmarked for MDC BECAUSE they are earmarked for MDC and from all appearances, The MDC is a good steward of their finances and our public lands. As someone originally from Illinois, I can tell you that it can be a WHOOOOLE lot worse. MO has a huge amount of public use lands and I am happy to do my part so I and others can enjoy them. Both now and in the future.

No...period. I too live in rural Mo and have hit deer. It sucks, but the idea of the MDC somehow being "responsible" for it and reimbursing me is, to me, ludicrous. This would create an unnecessary layer of red tape in an agency that actually works pretty good. I want the MDC money that I pay for with my taxes and licenses going towards MDC activities. Not the inevitable fraud that would occur from this. $500 would stock a lot of bass.

Working on 13 years sobriety here. No magic pills, no miracle cures. Tons of time in AA rooms and gut checking every day for the first few years. I LOVED drinking but it was killing me...which would have been ok if I wasn't also a Son, Father, and Husband. I GOT sober for them. I stay sober for me. My life is better now I used to not have a clue how to live without booze. Now I don't know how I could live WITH it. Answer...I couldn't. It would kill me and probably quickly. If you need help (I did), get it. I'm not endorsing anything but AA worked for me. It may or may not work for you. But don't do it alone. No need to.

The new Extremes are significantly lighter. A guy brought one out to let me see and feel it before Christmas. I will be getting one

My main Rod is an Extreme 6'6' MH. I use it for everything and I love it. I like the new generation Extreme and will be getting one at Spring sale.

I just found a guy on FB that goes by S&S jigs. Had him custom make me some hair jigs. 6 jigs 3 PBJ/3 Black/Blue. All have flash, 3 have feathers...good paint, sharp, heavy hook. $1.75 each. If you visit his page I just posted some sorta crappy pictures. They are great!!
