  1. Go back to the gammies........I wanna hear more about this pond you got. 20/25? Out of a pond? Good lord!! Sounds like heaven.
  2. I'm calling BS on every one of you. We ALL have a bag of bubblegum senko type baits and we've all caught fish on them and always as a last resort!
  3. I collect Hellbenders...deep diving suckers but they take awhile to get there. They WILL catch fish....especially Pike up North.
  4. Absolutely.......give it a go with absolutely no worries at all. (I like to give Darwin a hand once in a while)
  5. Yep...that's about the extent of the type of conversations I want when I'm fishing. He looks like the perfect buddy to me.
  6. ...and there you go. You like it..it's a pleasure to fish with it for you. That is all that matters. Will it last? Who knows and who cares? That is the thing about something as personal as a fishing reel. What feels great to me may feel completely foreign to you. What may be a good deal to me, may be worthless to you. In the end it does not matter so long as you're enjoying your equipment and catching the fish you wish to catch. Tight lines and rock on!
  7. Wow....Bummer. Sorry to hear this. A few years ago I went out to bank fish this little out of the way conservation area and found 3 bags of what had to be pretty expensive duck decoys. I left them there in the hope the hunter would come back
  8. Just had my first experience on the back of the boat. Got totally smoked on my home lake. I felt like it was first time fishing and felt like a fool. Was a completely different experience that I know will make a better fisherman out of me. Just wish it wasn't so d**n humiliating...lol

  10. I'd count it but the fact that you are even asking the question means you don't believe it does and you are looking for permission to call it good. If you have to ask to ease your own mind, it doesn't count.
  11. If you can't walk a Spook, give it up. Sexy Dawgs are pretty easy too. You can walk most anything once you get the action down
  12. I just put one between my cheek and gum.
  13. I T-Rig these weightless and toss them under overhangs in the shade. They sink really slow and with all the flaring and movement they get hammered.
  14. I play with my worm all the time in the car. Wait.........what?
  15. What gets advertised? The tried and true or the latest and greatest (and most expensive). There's your answer. We see all kinds of stuff about the newest Rapala or something great out of Japan but when was the last time you threw a Lazy Ike or a Whopper Stopper? I collect both and actually use them. Whopper Stoppers are some deep diving fools and slay the Pike up in Minnesota. Lazy Ikes produce Crappie and LMB's, too How long have underspin jigs been around but the Classic was won on them this year so they are hot right now. I'd love to see the Classic get won on something like an Ike these days. People would go nuts for them!
  16. got caught on the water during a big storm just once. was up in Northern Minnesota and it came out of nowhere fast. Was in a cove and didn't see it coming. Barely made it across the lake in a little jon boat running an 8 hp outboard Would have actually been smarter to stay where I was and ride it out. Scared the heck out of me. I pay attention now. Not saying you weren't, it's just sometimes we underestimate the speed those things can come on us...especially when the fish are biting and you don't WANT to leave.
  17. Yeah...I've seen those but I'm talking a lit up spinner blade. It would look pretty crazy in the water as it spun. I'm not going to make one....(although I might for the helluvit)...just curious if anyone has ever heard of such a thing.
  18. This idea just popped into my head. Anyone ever seen a spinnerbait with a blade or blades that would light up for night fishing? I know you could paint them with glow in the dark paint but has anyone ever tried to use an actual LED light in or on one? Just curious......
  19. I fell like I've gotten pretty good with a hollow body and to me it reminds me of when I played golf. I was a terrible golfer but OCCASIONALLY I would hit a nice drive and knew it as soon as I felt the club hit the ball. It feels right and even sounds different. I go through a week long training curve every year to get my timing down on the frogs. It'll click for you and then you'll be hopelessly addicted.
  20. I've got bag after bag of every type of bait in tons of different colors. They all look great...in my storage drawers in my garage at home. On the water, I use about 4 types in about 4 color combinations...lol. Couple that with the fact that 90% of the time I'm throwing a swinghead jig in an appropriate size for what I want to do with it, the VAST majority of my tackle sits unused. But that's ok....I'M READY FOR ANYTHING!!! Lol I haven't found much I CAN'T do with a swinghead jig
  21. Research....practice...fail...research....practice some more.....eventually succeed....young Padawan. This site and youtube videos will teach you all you need to know to start with. Learn how to Texas rig first. DON'T spend a lot of money....except on terminal tackle. Buy the best of that you afford Welcome to a hobby that will give you a lifetime of joy (and make you spend every extra dollar you have but that will come later ) Fishing is like most anything else. To get good at it requires dedication. Anybody can catch some bluegill on a cheapo outfit from Walmart and for a lot of people that's just great. To become a GOOD fisherman takes years of practice, I believe. I got SERIOUS about bass fishing about 8 years ago and it's only been in the last couple of seasons that I think I am fishing smart. Reading the conditions and changing tactics based on them, etc. Not just throwing bait after bait hoping for a miracle. I've also stopped being skunked 2 out of 3 times I hit the water. I'm pretty confident now that I WILL catch fish when I go out. AND it's actually the type of fish I am targeting!...Not just some random bullhead that happened by. Am I a good fisherman? To some of the guys on here, not even close, but I don't judge myself on their accomplishments. I haven't crossed the double digit threshold yet but I've come close and it gives me a goal. I don't tournament fish but I think I could and not completely embarrass myself. The best thing I could hope for you is to learn something from your research and then go out and be successful at it. I actually remember the first bass I caught on a Senko that I poorly Texas rigged after watching a few videos. I was as hooked as that 1.5 lb'er. I never looked back after that. GOOD LUCK!!!! ps......I agree with the above statements about colors...including Bubblegum. It seems I always use it as a last resort but I always catch fish on it. Why not start with it? I don't know.......
  22. I like Bill Dance....I like his show..and I'd love to hang out and fish with him. That's pretty much my entire opinion of Bill Dance. As far as a personal best. Wherever I caught it...as long as I caught it honestly.... it would count. I guess I don't put as much thought into as some of y'all.
  23. Welcome to the only GOOD addiction I've ever had.
