  1. Give me a ScumFrog or a Pad crasher on a hot day in a shaded cove and I'll drag one of those through the muck all darn day. love it. Second is a Red Shad or Pumpkin seed Fat Max on a swing head jig working weedlines or dropping them next to stumps. 3rd would be an H&H Spinner. 9 times out of 10 you'll find me working one of those
  2. My local said that all Livetarget were BOGO EXCEPT for Baitball and Sunfish. Guess what the ONLY kinds of Livetarget lures they had were. I, of course, wanted to grab some sunfish.
  3. If you're looking for for a curly tail that doesn't wrap around timber nearly as bad try the Culprit Fat max. They got 6, 7 and 9". Terrific baits
  4. I don't intentionally target beds but that is my personal choice. I've quoted the sentences I've got a problem with in the OP. Do I think that targeting beds will decimate the bass population in a given body of water? Nope. Do I have a personal problem with doing so? Yes. this is a sport. Sports are supposed to be challenging. My .02 only. Does not apply to anyone else. I respect any angler's right to do as he pleases as long as it is legal.
  5. Nope. I just fish.
  6. The little lake I fish in the most has a lot of standing timber in it. I had a day last year that I was really fighting the wind so I decided to call it a day. As I was leaving, I noticed an older fella out in roughly the same area I was trying to work (and having some success at) tie the bow of his boat off to one of those trees and fish off the back of his boat. The wind was very stable and coming across the lake from the same direction the whole time. As I was leaving I saw him bring in a nice one. Lesson learned that day. Why the heck didn't I think of that? Even if the boat swings a little, who cares?
  7. I fish. I don't count hours....I don't take video....i don't take pictures.....I don't keep logs (I might do this a little but I doubt it).....I generally go to the same place 99% of the time. It's an interesting little 70 acre lake that holds lots of big bass and a lot of different challenges. Have I mastered this hobby? Nope.....and I hope I never do. The day I have it "mastered" is the day it will bore me.
  8. Send it to DVT and go get you a BPS Pro Qualifier. I can't imagine a better reel for a beginner. That Dual Brake system works
  9. I don't throw baits in the water. I lose enough as it it, but I WILL tell you about my worst habit that I WILL change this year. I've always flipped cig butts in the water. Yes, it sucks and I know it. I just didn't give it much thought until I saw a sunfish come up and nibble at one last year at the end of the season. It made me realize what I was doing. I've stopped.
  10. Yep....the H&H have those gnarly old rubber skirts. They catch lots of fish.
  11. and I would not disagree with this. I'm no prude but not everything needs to be "edgy" or "cheeky". Especially fishing I understand this. If I'm out fishing for a day and something is working well, I'll change it after 3-4 fish. May sound goofy but I get bored with that bait and try something else. Might be the type but a different color or I may completely change tactics and go to something different. Why? I don't know.....variety
  12. I've stopped using hooks. My hook up ratio has suffered a bit.
  13. I was gonna paint flames on mine. Everyone knows that if you paint flames on something, it will go faster.
  14. Lol....do what you gotta do, Man. Just cause I wouldn't do it doesn't mean you shouldn't. Give it a try and post the video on here. Heck..I'd like to see it
  15. I've never fished a tournament. I'm just a 48 year old man that likes to fish
  16. ^^This^^ I wonder about the use of video when fishing the same way I wonder why people go to concerts and watch them through cell phones. Just fish the thing.
  17. This for me. With both BC's and Spinning. Even when flipping, pitching or skipping. The transition just happens with no thought....but that is only me. Do what's right for you
  18. H&H No trailer. Cheap as heck and they flat out catch fish. You're welcome
  19. I WILL buy one and I suspect I will do very well with it and I agree with you completely about it looking like it would be great to skip with. I just got caught up in the hype on this one. I had it built up in my mind as something I HAAAD to have because it was AMAAAAAAAZING. and then I saw it and I thought..."Oh...yeah..ok. That looks ok but not really like the end all be all. I have NO DOUBT it will cause some fun blow ups .
  20. My local DGS has them in stock. I was underwhelmed when I saw them. Not really sure what I was expecting. I'll probably wind up with a couple but if not, I think I'll live.
  21. Used to be in Peoria. Fished all those lakes. Welcome!
  22. I like Glenn's videos. I don't like the videos with the screaming music, etc., but then again I'm 48 yrs old. If a video with screaming guitars helps a young person find a great, lifelong hobby.....more power to them. I like videos that actually teach me something. I don't really care about seeing someone catch a fish in slow motion with pounding drums and "drama". But if you do...knock yourself out.
  23. My locals only cater to Cat fishermen. I do go to Roger's in Liberty. I prefer it to BPS or Cabela's. When I'm up in northern Minnesota, I think I SINGLEHANDEDLY keep these folks going...lol. http://www.frontiersports.net/
  24. I was jonesin pretty bad for one of those Livetarget sunfish until I actually saw one the other day. It's a frog with no legs. I put my wallet away
