  1. 1.) Xcalibur. The best. I've bought everyone I've seen for the last 6 months and now have a TON of them. 2.) Cotton Cordell. They work well and are cheap 3.) Rat-L-Trap Had BAD luck with the stock hooks on Rat-L-Traps so I'm in the process of changing them all out. Generally my last choice but I have some and do throw them.
  2. H&H Spinner bait. No particular color or set up. Those just flat work for me. Ain't too many ways they can't be fished next would be a lipless crank. usually in something like Rayburn Red or a Metalllic
  3. This. You're set, Partner. All are better than anything I got. The best one is the one you enjoy fishing with the most.
  4. Closed. I have several different types and brands but I always go back to the good old H&H spinners. They're closed and I use them with a swivel or clip. Just switch until I find the color and blade configuration that bass want. I pretty much have no need for any other brand
  5. I've lost so many of them that's probably mine...lol
  6. Like you, my spinning rod is 2 piece but I DO prefer a 1 piece because I've had 2 piece rods come apart before. Granted on an old rod that has since been retired but it made me a little gun shy on 2 piece. I don't launch monster casts with my spinning rod but it is the one I carry if I'm going somewhere and think there might be an opportunity to wet a line for a few minutes. Plus, my spinning rod stays in my boat so I just store it broken down. I personally would never put a baitcaster on on a multiple piece rod but that's just me. You got one you like, go for it
  7. THIS!!! I say to heck with all the haters......it can do it and you know it. Go for it and post the video to prove all the haters wrong! A REAL American wouldn't even ask...he'd just go for it!!! (Ok...that oughtta do it...this should be hilarious!!!)
  8. The time I spend fishing...especially when I'm gone for several hours has very little to do with actually catching fish. That's great, of course, and I'm usually fishing my a$$ off, BUT, it's not why I do it. The first hour or so, my brain fights itself. Thoughts of everyday life creep in. Work...chores...bills...etc., and then everything slows down. I start to focus. I'm FISHING. And the harder I fish the less "thinking" I do. I'm reacting to the conditions, I'm trying different techniques, colors, etc., according to those conditions. I'm saying hi to the cranes and the ducks...don't laugh..you do it too. I'm loving being outside and doing no harm to my surroundings. No one is looking for me and I don't need anything from anyone. All is right with the world. And then I hook into a big ol hog and things get exciting. What the heck is not to like about that?
  9. I don't even take pictures. I catch em, admire em a second or 2 and release them. I know I've qualified for Missouri's "Master Angler" certificate on multiple occasions but I just don't care. I don't fish for money or records and the places I do fish are pretty isolated. Giving them media coverage would ruin them. No thanks. I fish for me and if someone thinks I'm lying about something without proof...well.....I AM a fisherman. Maybe I am!
  10. 1/4 full with cheap mono...uni to uni......I use palomar on braid for lures. I like 15 lb Power pro Slick 8..even froggin and I've only snapped the line once. ONCE!!
  11. Ask and ye shall be answered.
  12. When I can't buy a bite, I tie on a 1/2 oz Mepps Comet Mino. I try both silver and gold and work the water column with it. They foul, the fish trailer spins, it looks like something a kid designed......but...they catch fish. The might not get you a winning bag but I credit that stupid lure with igniting the LM fishing fire in me. The first one I had I found in a tree, tied it on and start hauling in 1-2 lbs'er s one after another. In fact, why don't I use it more now?
  13. Wow.......that is a dream day ANYWHERE. But in Minnesota!! Congrats
  14. Outstanding!!! I'd give about anything to spend one more day on the water with my Old Man.
  15. ^^This^^ I do not have a lightning fast hook set so Megastrike (original formula is what I use) gives me a little extra time to set the hook.
  16. This...and a Hostess Cupcake.
  17. Welcome from the St. Joe/Savannah area!
