Compact Spinnerbaits
Good Old H&H Spinners. 3/8 oz. Cast one close to a stump and let it flutter down. KA-WHAM!!! Love them and have a bunch of them. Best thing about them other than the fact that they just flat work is you can find them on the 'Bay for less than $1.50 each. So losing one doesn't make you cringe.

Superstition & Rituals
A few I guess....1.) I always wear the same old beat up ball cap and I don't usually wear hats. 2.) Like a few others, I always thank the fish and God when I do catch one. 2.) When I catch a decent size fish I always put a slip resistant glove on my left hand so I can handle the fish better. I got finger hooked really bad once when a fish I caught shimmied while I was trying to remove a stubborn treble and I dropped it...which drove the treble into a finger on my right hand. The thing is...I DO NOT LEAVE THE GLOVE ON. If I do, it seems like I never get another bite. I have to put that glove on after I've boated the fish, unhook it, release it, and take the glove off. Weird? Don't care....it works for me. Another one I thought of....If I'm froggin, on my first cast I will take the time to light a smoke before I ever move the bait. It's amazing how many times I've cast that first frog out there..let it set while I fire up a smoke..and then have it get hammered right after that first twitch.

Wacky Rig Senko
A little more about the VMC. I had a post the other day about Wacky Rig success and this is the hook I was using. I won't use it again except for the stuff no39 has mentioned. I KNOW I missed some strikes because of it. I love most VMC stuff and I have some of the little wacky rig jigs they make. I will continue to use those but these just didn't work out the way I wanted them too

practicing pitching/skipping?
I can skip pretty well but for the life of me I just can't get pitching down worth a darn. That's why I practice I guess.

Catch & Release
I C&R only. With that said, does that mean YOU should? Nope...so long as the fish you are taking are of legal size and you are not otherwise fishing illegally, you are good to go. Even if it DID p*ss me off....that would be my problem. Not yours.

Wacky Rig saves the day!
Before yesterday I had never had any success with it. One of my my main goals in 2016 is to SLOOOOOOW DOOOOOOWN. So I did. I fished it weightless and let it fall all the way to the bottom. Give it a couple flicks...raise it a bit and let it fall back to the bottom. Couple flicks, raise it, let it fall...etc. Shockingly.....it worked! It could be wearing a tutu and ballerina slippers for all I care. If it;s catching hawgs, I'm in!

Wacky Rig saves the day!
Just got home from a great morning at my local conservation area lake. Knew the wind would pick up so I just beat the banks and the fishing dock. Been wanting to get better at working a wacky rig so I just took my finesse set up and my Senko box. Had a couple of strikes until I put on a bubblegum. Holy cow!! Caught 4 pigs and had tons of hits. They weren't just trying to eat it...they were trying to destroy it. Just made a WR believer outta me. First WR fish and first fish of 2016. A beautiful morning here in NOWEMO.

Fishing with kids tips/tricks
All good stuff.....the number one rule I learned....that pretty much everybody else has said.....do NOT plan on fishing. Put them on some bluegill and remember that it ain't about you.

Lews drag slipping big time
Not feeling it but that's ok! If we were all the same it would be a boring ol' world. If it works for you then it works.

I never knew I was that bad......
The only problem I see is that you need new friends and family.

If money was no object....
Money were NO object at all? None of my rods would have a manufacturers name on them. They would have a builder's name on them. and they would be beautiful and feel like not only an extension of my hand but an extension of my central nervous system. I couldn't care less about "brand". I want the equipment that is right FOR ME. and they would be beautiful, too.

Best frogs
I fish Booyah, Live Target and one that doesn't get much love...Scumfrog Trophy Series. I can't begin to guess how many hawgs I've hauled through the muck with a natural black and Green Scumfrog trophy series tied on. They have one now with a rattle that will be in my box this summer. I usually go through 3-4 of these a year because they get pretty torn up after awhile.. This biggest reasons I like Scumfrog so much? 2 of them...1.) The sound. The "Plawp" they make when the hit the water is unlike any other and Is when they get hit the most, 2.) They royally p*ss off OTHER frogs. It can actually be kind of annoying. Big bullfrogs will always chase a Scumfrog. the others ..not so much

squarebill line
Most of the time, I'm ripping squarebills through grass so I'm throwing 15 lb braid. I know that seems light but it works and the small diameter braid cuts through the vegetation pretty well

Is it a trap?
Is it a trap? Of COURSE it's a trap!! SHE may not even realize it but it is. Valentines weekend is also my birthday. Do you think I get to play THAT card? NOPE! With that said, this is a very good opportunity to teach her something. My wife has learned that I don't play with traps. We're both old enough that mind games no longer work. If she says she doesn't mind if I go fishing.....I go fishing and I d**n well won't listen to complaints about it later. The flip side of that is that if she doesn't want me to...I generally don't. One of the nice things about getting older in marriage is that the games stop. We tell each other what we mean.

20yr old rapala baits
The Firetiger shallow shad rap in the bottom right of the bottom picture. Many many bass and pike were caught on the one I had. Was sad the day I lost that one.
