  1. I use Big Texan when I go up to Northern Minnesota. That little bit of Orange works well
  2. I got tons and tons of culprit worms. Try the Fat Max. I got about every color they make but I always seem to go back to a pumpkin seed fat max with the tail dipped in Spike it. I've had good luck rigging them on a VMC Drop Dead hook.
  3. I have A President on a 2 Pc. Shimano Sellus. Whole rig was right around $100 and is the only spinning rig I have. It works great!
  4. My froggin set up is an old PQ on a 6'6" MH/F Extreme rod. Strung up TIGHTLY with 30 lb. PP Slick. If you couldn't cast that a mile, you need more practice with a BC....which is ok. Best time to practice with a BC is winter when you don't care about actual fishing. I think I have the brakes pretty much shut off and the drag turned all the way up. I want to get those girls outta the muck FAST.
  5. And welcome to the reason I have no interest in tournament fishing. I fish to get away from pressure....not create more.

The frog bite is on in Northwest Missouri!!! WHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Love me some froggin, They were DESTROYING my pad crasher tonight...literally. First Pad crasher I've had just get mangled. I've always lost them first
  7. PQ is a terrific BC to learn on and they are tanks. I just got done hauling multiple girls outta the muck with a PQ and a frog.
  8. I'm assuming you are wanting bass specifically but ain't nothing wrong with a nightcrawler under a bobber for bluegill and such.
  9. I'm pretty sure I have enough tackle in my car right now for a two week tournament on the Big O
  10. I wear a glove on my left hand when I fish.....BUT.....I won't put it on until I have the first fish in the boat.
  11. KVD Split ring pliers. Cuts braid great. Split ring part is garbage
  12. Spooks and my new fave, the Bagley Knocker B. I tossed this a couple times yesterday and wow......walks like a champ and looks great. Just waiting on the top water bite now
  13. Swing head jig...use them all the time
  14. Got a buddy that loves them and is successful with them. He doesn't mind that the logs are gone after 2 or 3 fish. I'll stick to my Scumfrogs and Pad Crashers
  15. Gators are game changers. We ain't got those in Missouri
  16. Yep.....dragging a frog through the muck.....just KNOWING there's a biggun by that stump and then.........nothing. So you cast again...but this time you light a smoke when you frog hits water with your rod tucked under your arm. The process of lighting the smoke makes the frog twitch juuuust a little....KA-BOOOOOM!!! The fight is on. Sure, you may have befouled your pants a little but who cares?! Most fun that can be had with your clothes on. (The above exact scenario may or may not have happened to me on a hot July day last year).
  17. I've never done anything remotely as stupid as any of this. Also, I got land for sale if anyone is interested! It's really good stuff!!
  18. "I guess I'm just really wondering if a MH with moderate fast tip is good for texas rigs" Yes..unless you don't like it. And that is the point I believe that is being made. All the MFR.'s rating are different and every fisherman has his own touch. It seems apparent to me that THIS is the direction that you are wanting to go but you are second guessing yourself. Don't. Both will catch fish just fine. The fact that you are even having to choose tells me that you've done some research. Trust it. But I will say this.....do NOT buy a rod that you haven't felt in your hand. Better yet, do not buy a rod that you haven't put your reel on and felt in your hand and maybe even practiced a bit with. I have a rod that I bought sight unseen and although it's a veeeery nice rod, I'm not wild about it and do not use it that often. I simply have better choices that I prefer to fish with and I will probably wind up selling this rod. TRUST YOUR GUT based on your research and feel the rod.
  19. H&H and custom stuff from a guy on FB...lol Other than dragging it over the top of muck or punching, I ain't found too many ways I CAN'T fish an H&H spinnerbait and if I lose one? Ok...I got more...lol
  20. Gone fishin'. Nothing better.
  21. My main lake is way out in the boonies and electric only. No boaters and all the morons that just sit on the bank and guzzle beer and blast music and such go somewhere else that's closer to home. It's mostly regulars and we all know each other. There is an occasional idiot but we recognize it pretty quick and work together to show the fool the errors of his ways. Not with violence or anything but not allowing him access to good coves and that sort of thing...until he gets the hint. And then he is welcomed. or doesn't come back. Either one is great.
  22. Way heavier? 3/8 is 1/8 oz heavier than 1/4. I do it all the time.
  23. Whatever the Minnesota guys say to do...do that!
