Bought a Duckett MH 7' micro magic and put a Lew's Superduty Speed Spool on it MONDAY NIGHT I've caught several nice fish flipping and pitching but when I try to cast the thing it birds-nests every time. I've tightened the drag, and the magnetic *** on the other side of the Lew's reel and it keeps birds nesting. No wind. Trying to cast a Baby brush hog texas rigged with a tungsten bullet weight and a bead.... what is the deal Last night I was so frustrated that I reverted back to when I was 7 years old wanting to throw the rod, reel, and everything else I own into the lake

(TX) It's been raining like the son of God's making coming around for the follow-up tour. My hypothesis is that all the critters (earthworms) start coming out of the dirt, and Bass have got to be more tuned into creature baits. Similar to wind, choppy/disturbed water must add a level of level of concealment, perhaps increasing the likelihood of attacking prey. Rain has a lower pH level than Lakewater. I'm not smart enough to take a shot at what this might do. Run-off, if the banks of your fishery is mud/dirt, will create low-visibility situations with murky water (so you can finally brandish the hot pink chatterbait your daughter got you for Christmas). Heavy rains are usually the result of a low-pressure front moving in, bringing cold northern air. Cold fronts typically hedge the activity of bass, but my thought is that they become less active as result of taking advantage of the hunting advantages the rain brings. They burn calories, fill up their gut, and that's why they get sluggish.

I'm in the market for a premier T-Rig/Jig slayer. I've made up my mind, I want a Shimano Chronarch CI 7.4:1 Gear ratio, and I want to put it on a Duckett rod. My question is - medium heavy or heavy? Which duckett rod is the best for precision Jig/T-Rig? How long?

Yeah I've been trying to get all of this done and it's taken me like a week and a half I just want to be able to maintain a reel to the best of my abilities but now it's looking like I bit off more than I can chew

For 3 days now I've been trying to properly flush and re-oil the 4 bearings and 1 roller clutch bearing. 1. How can I tell if a flushed bearing is optimally clean and ready for oil? 2. Is it reasonable to have to re-soak bearings over and over this many times and for this long? Or am I just up my own ass and wasting time? 3. Really I just want to know how to tell what a healthy bearing is as well as be able to tell when a bearing is beyond repair Monday Night - Soaked bearings for about an hour, some, not much dirt came out. Dried them and applied a drop of hot sauce to them. At this point I thought they were clean and ready to be reassembled. But I noticed one bearing was smooth as butter and seemed to spin for EVER. Wanting the rest of them to spin like the butter one, I decided to soak them again, over night Tuesday Night - After soaking them in lighter fluid a second time, this time over night, there was 5 times as much dirt. Took them out and set them aside to dry Wednesday Night - Sure that they were completely dry, none of them were spinning for a particularly long time (Some stopping within 1 second and others within 3) Applied oil. Same thing. Frustrated and scared, I decided to just soak them again Note - The Shimano Chronarch I am maintaining right now is a 100A and has probably not been thoroughly cleaned in 10 years. I've been doing the basic maintenance but never this deep.

Do you have any superstitious practices or rituals/habits that you do to bring good fortune on the water? When I remove worn out soft-plastics, the ones that catch fish get a special burial/retirement up in windshield of the passenger side of the boat. The failures get tossed to the floor. I also prefer to fish on an empty stomach--- I want my primal instincts to kick in to make me a better hunter

I don't know about those four in particular, but my go-to bait is the floatin-est shakey head lure around. Gambler Lures' "Giggy Stick" has a solid head to hold the hook and a tail that is hollow (full of air) so it floats up. Best bait for shakey heads

Wow---- soaked bearings in lighter fluid last night, and little, but not much dirt came out. I applied oil to them after they dried and was planning on installing them and reassembling the reel.... I gave them a spin and they seemed to have improved, but not perfect..... Decided to soak them a second time, it was a dirt factory. I was genuinely amazed at how many particulates were left in my little glass jar full of lighter fluid. I guess they needed a little oil in there to loosen something up? It was oddly satisfying I guess the moral of the story is soak them more than once

This is the roller clutch bearing in my Shimano Chronarch 100A. How do I flush/lube this bad boy? One drop of hot sauce for the whole thing or does each individual roller need a little love? I appreciate the feedback---- does anyone have any recommendations on how to apply an appropriate amount of oil?

So---- (and forgive the amateur question) just one drop of hot sauce right on the side and it will work its way inside/throughout the bearing, right? Also, I'm planning on doing it with lighter fluid.... how long do you let it sit in the lighter fluid?

Bingo!!! That's the one..... but still, why isn't it on the Shimano Website? What are they hiding!? But they're closed..... in other words, I can't look in and see the actual balls. Would you still flush them the same? Do you apply oil the same way? I'm scared...

Howdy, So I have several Shimano Chronarch 100A (Bantam?) reels and I'm breaking one down to really deep clean it. I lost my exploded diagrams and I cannot find them ANYWHERE online. Their website has exploded diagrams for every single current and discontinued model EXCEPT FOR THE ONE I HAVE! It's irritating and I can't use one of my favorite reels right now because I took it apart and am hesitant about a few pieces and do not want to proceed until I can take a look at the schematics. Does anyone know where I can find the exploded diagram? Also, does anyone know the best procedure for Chronarch Bearings? Since they are not exactly "open" I don't know whether I should try and flush/re-oil them. Thanks guys

Please Help Me! I'm spending 4 days on T-Bend for this Labor Day weekend and I am really trying to get as much info as possible. I don't have time to read all 300 pages of this thread, so can someone help me out? Is there a reliable/preferred fishing report out there? If so, where is it, I want to be prepared.

When you say dead stick it. You mean just let it sit there? Or Carolina-rig dragging kinda?
