  1. Unfortunately the water temps on the Chick Lake are 90+ right now. Fishing is not good at all. To have any chance right now you would need to go up to the end of the lake and find moving water. I would suggest fishing the tidal chick river.
  2. I'm sure others who know more about the lake will chime in but normally I visit Anna a few times a year. Definitely not my favorite lake. The last few times I visited I launched near the rt.208 bridge. The water in that area is sometimes very clear, 10-15ft vis, and pretty deep. I have had the best luck running to the northwestern portions of the lake where it thins out a bit and is much more shallow. In the northwestern part I have found a good variety of boat docks, trees, and other fish holding cover. As far as navigating the lake just use good sense, off the top of my head I cant think of any areas that eat props or skegs, if you stay in the middle in most areas you should be fine. Hope this helps.
  3. Did some checking on this and bank fishing is not permitted in the park.
  4. What I use for fishing pads depends on factors such as water temp, weather conditions, etc. Some of my go to baits for summer pad fishing include; pearl weightless super fluke, booyah pad crasher jr. for the early morning bite. Make sure you are pausing the frog in between twitches, the pause length can make all the difference. Depending on the thickness of the cover a spinner bait can work as well. Hope this helps.
  5. The park has two main lakes. A deep lake and a shallow lake. The shallow lake is closed for fishing and no fishing in that lake is strictly enforced. The deep lake(20+) has a pier and is okay for bass fishing and has other species as well. Private boats are not allowed in any of the lakes. Hope this helps.
  6. I've been watching the water temps and they have been steady in the mid 40's for a few weeks now, hoping the weather will warm things up for us in VA. On a local forum a guy posted a report from the chick lake with pics of a nice sized LM caught on a suspending jerkbait. I plan on giving it a try in the next few weeks, I will post a follow up report with the current conditions.
  7. New to forum but not to fishing, came across this site while doing my winter bass fever reading and noticed a wealth of information here. I fish primarily in southeastern VA out of a 2013 Key West 210br with a Minn Kota riptide 101 on the bow. I fish salt and fresh water in my area. Looking forward to contributing what I can and learning at the same time.
