Chickihominy Lake

Featured Replies

Hey All,

I am new to the area and plan to fish Chick lake this weekend. I've heard good things about lacey and johnson creek but I was wondering how far back I need to get in there for some good action? (I have a 16ft bass tracker) Also, if there are any other spots in particular known to hold bass this time of year. Please educate me.

Lines tight!

Cheeseburger.

Unfortunately the water temps on the Chick Lake are 90+ right now. Fishing is not good at all. To have any chance right now you would need to go up to the end of the lake and find moving water. I would suggest fishing the tidal chick river.

I've yet to fish the Chick, but let me

welcome you to the forums since this

is your first post.

I went out to the lake a couple of weekends ago. Launched out of Eagles Landing so I fished mainly in the swamp.  The water was pretty hot, but I caught a bunch of small ones throwing whacky in the cypress trees and missed a good one in the lilly pads until I got chased away by thunderstorms. Some of the guys I talked to out there had some nice ones in their live wells.

I fished the river out of Rochahock this past weekend and caught them pretty good out there as well, biggest went 4LBS. I was doing pretty much the same thing with the whacky worms in the trees and grass and also caught some on dropshot in the deeper water in front of the docks up in the first two big bends down from the dam.
