  1. I've had really good luck on the bama craw color in clearer water and the black and blue when it gets muddy.
  2. I've always considered akin hooking to be when you bring the hook through the bait as you said, then burring the tip of the hook in just enough to not get snagged up on structure.
  3. Ha, yeah I guess you guys are right. The one I killed didn't stop me from throwing the dropshot the rest of the day. Ended up catching a 4 on it in the afternoon.
  4. I went out to the lake a couple of weekends ago. Launched out of Eagles Landing so I fished mainly in the swamp. The water was pretty hot, but I caught a bunch of small ones throwing whacky in the cypress trees and missed a good one in the lilly pads until I got chased away by thunderstorms. Some of the guys I talked to out there had some nice ones in their live wells. I fished the river out of Rochahock this past weekend and caught them pretty good out there as well, biggest went 4LBS. I was doing pretty much the same thing with the whacky worms in the trees and grass and also caught some on dropshot in the deeper water in front of the docks up in the first two big bends down from the dam.
  5. Had something similar happen during a tournament last Saturday while fishing a drop shot in some fast current. Little bass hit it and I didn't even know until he all but swallowed the hook. I cut the hook and got it out but he must have been out of the water too long or something because he died soon after. I spent the rest of the day not feeling good about it and I made sure that the rest of the fish we caught went in to the live well quickly and survived.
  6. I've had luck throwing them on swimbait hooks, weighted os weightless, into grass.
  7. What kind of jigs are you looking for? If you want big bass jigs I really like the revenge football hedz. I'll put my own skirts on depending on the water I'm fishing.
  8. Had something similar happen a few weeks ago on a spinner in hydrilla. I felt a light bump but thought I had just gone through some grass and didn't feel anything on the reel up. Ended up being the smallest fish ever caught on a half ounce spinner bait! My partner got a picture of it so I'll see if I can find it and post it.
  9. Ha yeah, there's a lot of soccer around here.
  10. Hello all. Just found this board so I figure I'd join and try to step up my fishing skills. I'm born and raised in Virginia and I've been fishing the lakes and rivers around here my whole life. Love fishing for bass but I'll go after catfish and gar too. My main focus now-a-days is trying to put together patterns and, of course, catch a monster.
