  1. Great fish and pix! Well done!!!!
  2. I wasn't expecting a full moon for another couple of weeks. If you've only killed 3 bass in 11 years, you're doing a LOT better than me. Then again, I'm still using last year's sunglasses. 8-)
  3. Maybe 'cause they've been hit in the head by so many golf balls? :-/ ;D j/k...I like your theory.
  4. This could make a few hundred pair of boots... http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=39572368
  5. I fish a lot in Southern Illinois, and they are waaaay understaffed. That said, there's a warden who fishes the same lake I fish, and he's out there every Sunday night just after dark to check the boats as they roll in. There are NO lights at the ramp, and he'll sit in the dark until you pull your boat out, then he'll shine his light on you. It's enough to make you jump out of your skin! Aside from that, he seems like a decent guy. The first time he checked me I got a warning for no whistle in the boat. Since then he seems more interested in the fishing report than checking my boat.
  6. I'm guessing they were aware of you, too. I'd probably treat it like a bass on a bed; toss a jig or a worm right in their wheelhouse, then let it sit for a couple of minutes without moving, then just a slight twitch...pause a bit and twitch again. If this didn't work, I'd move on.
  7. I don't expect perfect, but there are times when a little effort would go a LOOONG way.
  8. That is simply amazing! So much for needing razor sharp hooks, huh? I would not have believed it if you didn't have the pix.
  9. In years past I set a goal to catch a new PB...and I've failed. This year my only goal was to take the kids fishing more and enjoy my time on the water. So far, so good. As a lucky bonus, I was also able to catch a new PB. Go figure.
  10. Great fish and pix! If you can get a teenage daughter to agree to go fishing, you can do anything! P.S. The boat looks good to me.
  11. Great fish and pic. Looks bigger than 12 pounds to me!
  12. Great pix Mike. The one shot looks like a bird is hitching a ride on the back of an eagle. I also got a kick out of the shot of the little boy wading in the lilly pads over your shoulder. Well done.
  13. I'd count it twice. In Homer Circle's book "Bass Wisdom" he talks about catching the same bass out of the same spot in his farm pond over and over and over again. I wonder how many times he counted that fish? ;D
  14. I got a little chill reading that. Outstanding post!!
  15. Fishbear, be careful who you make angry. They call it 'going postal' for a reason. ;D
  16. I was expecting to see you holding a rod with the top 75% broken off! ;D BTW I agree, heavy and light are relative terms.
  17. Welcome Back Avid. You were missed.
  18. Has yet to realize the Mets are pond scum.
  19. I'm not normally good at guessing games...but I'll say 27lbs. :-/
  20. Great googly-moogly, Goggle Eye. That's a heck of a striper.
  21. I don't think magazines are obsolete. I probably learn more from this website, but I still enjoy reading in-depth articles crafted by professional outdoors writers. Besides, I don't have a computer in the bathroom. BassMaster is the one I subscribe to, but I'll pick up Bassin', In Fisherman, and even Field & Stream when I see an article that interests me.
  22. Great story Zel. I had never thought about using a rattle bait to get bass active. Again I'm learning something new here! This site has been a bigger help to my bass fishing than any magazine I've read or TV show I've watched. Just real people sharing what works.
