  1. Bluegills just started spawning here recently but the bass haven't started yet, I image they will within the next week or so.
  2. 6) My finger because catching bass during spawn is as easy as fishing with dynamite.
  3. Very nice. Love those owner hooks too, I've only got 2 left, time to make an order too.
  4. I was on the St. Lawrence river and something was pulling the boat, and it was most certainly a fish. Unfortunately I was just a kid and my line snapped, that'll haunt me until the end of my days lol.
  5. It's always good to have goals. Now catch a 4lber
  6. I had dozens upon dozens of giant, amazing bass wash up on my shore because of a poorly executed tournament. It was an exceptionally hot summer and I know this lake, they all went to deeper, cooler water and caught them, then released them in the shallow, oxygen depleted bay without giving a care. For me, that's like driving drunk, they should've have their fishing licenses revoked for 5 years and have to take a course on preserving fisheries.
  7. Yep, I start off the morning around 5am when the water is like glass with top water, buzz baits, frogs, mice whatever. Then fish along weed lines with spinnerbait or start using senko as the sun is setting back to top water, as the water usually calms down, mostly go with hula-poppers and nail them every time.
  8. Top water, especially buzz bait are a different beast entirely. It's hard to ignore you initial reaction to set the hook immediately upon seeing the strike but just wait, a little bit, even longer if you're using something like a frog or hula-popper. So much fun though.
  9. I love them and pike and actually go out looking for them specifically. I've also gone out for Bowfin/Dogfish too which are much like snake heads, it's a good fight but you just have to make sure you've got some hefty line and a steel leader on for them. Our bass season doesn't open until June 21st so there's really not much else to do but catch the toothy ones.
  10. Off topic, but that avatar is hilarious, Reminds me of this one I made,
  11. What's the point of putting locks on Rubbermaid containers? lol you can lift them, you can cut them open etc. If anything that'd be the first thing someone would steal. Find a way to hide it, maybe rip up some floor boards or just take it with you.
  12. I do my best fishing alone. Or I just tick people off with the amount of fish I catch and they end up watching me, it becomes a spectator sport.
  13. Around 30 in the last 4 days, but the thing is, I'm not even fishing for bass. Doing something wrong lol edit: plus 8 more since I last posted.
  14. Was just fishing off the dock and kept seeing these lights on the other side of the bay. They were going into the water and hovering around it..I went and got my binoculars to get a better view. Oh...Just people using those blinking/ lit up bobbers lol
  15. Hula-popper, jitterbug, buzzbait all work wonders for me.
  16. Well there you have it. Not going to find a better reel for that price.
  17. That's why I get up at 5am with a travel mug full of coffee. It's just you, calm waters with haze rising off of them. All you hear is nature and your reel and nothing can possibly bother you, even if you get skunked.
  18. I caught a bowfin on 8lb mono, no leader and I thought I had just won the local tournament..Nope, that wasn't a bass but really fun to catch and I was amazed I didn't lose my lure. Really strange because I was using a top water frog. Ever since I've actually gone out of my way to catch them and there's even a tournament here this Saturday for them and Pike.
  19. Bought a Pfluger President 6930 for $60 recently and a Shimano Convergence for $70, couldn't be happier and was at the advice of members here, personally I spooled it with 20lb sufix 832.
  20. lol got a boat but haven't really needed it, going to launch it this weekend for pike.
  21. They should prescribe fishing trips over anti-depressants.
  22. 2 LMB and 4 smallies yesterday. Here's the pig of the bunch
  23. Occasionally birds eat your lure too. d**n seagulls :|
  24. Just some worms I grabbed out of the compost and a sinker, caught them all casting up stream.
