  1. I want to get some spinbaits/spybaits. Other than that i am pretty good on what I have. I have multiples of my go to baits and several in other colors. Got on a jerkbait kick this year and I think I have the right ones and the right amount now. Bought alot off forums. Some really good deals out there.
  2. Guy that worked at a Ford plant in Louisville Ky made some dandy ones. Piano wire was the deal. Could make those babies squeeeeke like no other. After that I can't find one that makes me say wow anymore. I will look up this Cavitron now..
  3. You guys are bunch of saints, do gooders and perfect humans. Dislike button is a good one too, haven't heard that before. There IS a learning moment in this thread,,,, Don't forget your tackle bag at a public fishing hole!
  4. Keep it. Finders keepers, losers weepers. lol I found a soft tackle bag floating on Guntersville one year. It had several bags of senkos. The bag was stained like it had been in the lake awile. The baits were all in good shape. I was very happy!
  5. My biggest accomplishment in bass fishing would be my angler of the year award. At the time my club was rollin and had close to 70 members. I guess others would be tournament wins at various lakes where I struggled in the past. Figuring them out and making practice pay off. My next goal is to win a large open tournament. I have not fished many, but have the confidence now that I would not be there to donate money. I will enter a few next year with the goal of winning them.
  6. Mostly during the spring. Big mommas get tough after the spawn. I get a few in the summer at night but most of my lunkers come in the spawn or pre spawn. I am hoping to get a few lunkers in my two day fall classic. Biggins should get active when the shad move up. Good luck to all this fall season.
  7. I had bad luck with arashi also. I couldnt get it to run good at any speed. Very disappointed. They are pretty but that don't cut it. I was in a tourny and didn'y have time to play with them as much as I wanted. I may try different line and rods to see if that makes a difference. I like the idea this time of year.
  8. Yes, cough cough. It is getting nice out now and I am starting to feel alil under the weather. I really get feeling bad when the rut is going hard and a cold snap comes in....
  9. Yes some gamesmanhip should have been played. Good thing is I think thats what they thought I was doing hahahaha...
  10. Well I fished my clubs last regular season tourny sunday. We fish the VERY tough Ohio River in the Louisville KY pool. I knew a small limit or a couple decent fish could get a check and possibly win it. All week I watched the weather and it looked like a high pressure blue bird day was coming. It has been crazy with rain and hot weather for two or more weeks. This was going to make it even more tough. I saw a video on bassmaster.com with Skeet Reese throwing a Ish Phat frog in the high daytime sun and he did good on it. All week i thought, why couldn't this work for me. I have never thrown a frog on the river. I knew of a couple good grass patches so i decided to buy a couple of those frogs and try it. I went in the cut and threw the frog and BAM cought a giant 2.5lb bass. Trust me that is huge here. I was pumped. Then we went hours without a keeper. I stuck a small 12" keeper then my partner stuck a decent 13 1/2" keeper. I figured we had 4 1/2 pounds and felt pretty good really. Well on the way back to the ramp, we hit the grass bed again and BAM another 2.5lb on the frog!. I was pumped to say the least. My plan had worked and we had 7.5 pounds of bass on the Ohio... We made it back to the weigh in after a 13 mile ride with 100's of pleasure boats making the ride very hard and slow. After the weigh in we made out with a few hundred dollars and second place! First was less than a pound away too. All in all I feel that it was a success. Nobody could believe I caught those two fish on a frog. They smashed it and with braided line I just manhandled them and flipped them in the boat. Fealt great to have a plan come together.
  11. Wow thats a first... lol. Only if I could get my wife to say that....
  12. Smaller real is lighter and more comfortable for me. Plus in Indiana I really don't need a huge spool or heavy line. makes sense to me to keep it as small as possible. No cons for me...
  13. Just got back from Bass Pro with four Arashi wake baits. Have a tourny on the Ohio river and I found a place they are eating shad on the surface. I have never used a wake bait. I will report monday!
  14. I have a few of the Johnny Morris series from Bass Pro and they are smoothhhhhhh. Around $100
  15. No, but I can and I have won alot of money with my confidence baits. I do feel like a bait that is slightly different matters in my very highly pressured lakes. During a tournament we have to fish when they are not necissarily eating or feeding. Something has to make them react or want it. I can buy all the different baits I want, they sell 100's of worms in pumpkin colors. I am talking about the ones that I know puts money in my pocket and bass in my livewell. There must be something about them if I am winning or placing in tournaments. Everyone else is throwing green pumpkin....... and I have thier money in my pocket...... CONFIDENCE is the best bait in the boat!
  16. I have emailed Berkley and they are not producing my worm combo anymore.
  17. Ten inch worm in Pumpkinseed color. You can get them in 7" but 10" are gone.
  18. I went straight to Berkley and they said they have no stock and do not plan on making more. One thing good is I contacted YUM and a bait I thought was gone is just not at bass pro anymore. YUM said i could purchase from them and that they do not plan on stopping production in the near future.
  19. I wouldn't think it would come to be a finesse tourny that time of year. Prespawn hawg mommas want big baits. I will go out on a limb and say Ranger Boat Pro Shinichi Fukae. Or maybe Jacob Wheeler.
  20. man I get confidence and a feel for a bait, then they stop making it. It has happened on several occasions. It takes awhile to find those baits that you feel is a go to bait. Sure there are many close to it or a "new" style of the same version. I feel like every year I am on forums and ebay trying to find my confidence baits to buy. I guess if you find something you feel comfortable with, you better buy a bunch and put them up for a rainy day.
  21. I have downsized all my tackle over the last few years also. If I had to choose one it would be sexy shad. Bass eat shad period. Dirty water or clear.
  22. Bill Dance, "They don't have hands". If you feel a tug it is in there mouth! The only exception I have found is Spotted bass around here. They seem to pick it up try to kill it, then eat it. I almost shake it free then set it on the second bite. Weird , but Iif I am on a mostly spotted bass bite this is what I have to do to get them in the boat. I feel like the fish will tell you how to set the hook. Trial and error.
  23. He is a professional perch fisherman. Made alot of cash catching them. Northern fella. Likes smallmouth too I think.
  24. Could he fish the three open tournys? Winner gets in. IKE did it last year. St. Clair might be in his wheelhouse???
  25. I don't understand why Plano or even a bait company like Megabass wouldnt make these. People would buy them I would like a double decker that would hold like 30. I will email Bass Mafia and put that thought in their ear. They have some nice stuff.
