  1. You alright fellas Has anyone used daiwa steez fluorocarbon ? If so : What's it like ? How is it stretch wise ? What did you think of it ? Look forward to hearing from you all . Cheers aye. Elwood .
  2. Have you considered the abu revo winch or abu revo toro winch? Are they in your price range? If not : What about searching the auction sites to pick one up , for around half the retail price?
  3. You alright hooligan. Its got to be worth a try hasnt it. Ive just ordered 4lb, 6lb, 8lb and 10lb to try out for my spinning and baitcaster set ups , so will get back to everyone with what i think of it aye. Being a newbie though i can onlly compare it to gamma edge fluoro and just how i found it to fish with in genral , but will let everyone know anyway though ok fella. Would still like to hear from anyone with experience of the line if possible though . So come on fellas !!! Whos tried maxima fluorocarbon as a reel line ? Look forward to hearing from you all . Cheers aye. Elwood .
  4. You alright fellas. Have any of you used, or are using maxima fluorocarbon at all? In the tackle tours fluorocarbon sequel it had less stretch than toray superhard , coming in second just behind sunline shooter fc for the stretch test and wasnt bad for deformity aye. It looks good in the lab considering the price doesnt it and the fact you get nearly twice as much line on the spool compared to toray and sunline for cheaper . So , Can anyone give any on the water info and experiences of this line that have used it? Look forward to hearing your views . Cheers aye. Elwood .
  5. Meant to say . Cheers for your responses fellas . I would like to think I'm definitely going good now and on the right track . Cheers again . Cheers aye. Elwood .
  6. You alright WRD. You was definitely right about 8lb fluoro needing line conditioner aye. Just for the less friction and smoothness of the cast I can see how it's much needed for more distance in casting . I will be ordering the line conditioner you mentioned and some sunline fluorocarbon and braid . My st croix lbt is a finesse xfast But as you said its underrated and I was using jighead weights probably above its truer rating So casting it we'll over loaded was easier due to feeling the weight more I'd imagine aye. I've realised a swing-ish swipe of the arm with a swift flick of the wrist at the end of the the arm motion at the right release point and the NRX was casting like a dream aye. Skeletor6 you alright fella. Still a newbie to lure fishing fella aye. Much more used to casting slower action rods for uk species such as barbel, carp, chub, roach etc . Totally agree with regards to learning the sensation and such . The aim is definitely to use fluorocarbon It's just the fluorocarbon I had on my tatula had far to much stretch so I put braid on my unspooled steez for now until I order some sunline shooter or sniper which will be today . Glad I did as it was a reel eye opener for everything I was doing wrong with regards to casting and striking at weed and such aye.
  7. You alright fellas. Put braid on steez today and put it on the nrx and what difference from when my tatula and fluorocarbon was on it . The G Loomis NRX 893c ??? AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The fluorocarbon on my tatula had miles too much stretch and was all wrong aye.
  8. Tartan, the light at the end of the tunnel . Need to here that aye. Perhaps thats what i need . Thought i was casting like a pro on the St Croix Lbt on my first outing lol . Do you think 8lb sunline shooter would give me a better casting distance as well as sensitivity fella? Was looking at sunline sx1 also but have heard about re-coil guide damage with braid . What do you reckon? Look forward to hearing from you . Cheers aye.
  9. Cheers for your response fella aye. My fear seems to be closer to being confirmed . I just bought this rod new + $88.00 shipping to the uk + customs tax etc and gutted would be an understatement . I might increased my jighead weight to 1/2 of an ounce and see if that makes it a little better and with the 7:1.1 retrieve of my reel it might keep the bait swimming a foot off the bottom on a slow straight retrieve which seems to get better results with my target species . Heard a lot about the bait monkey on here . I think in future i will arm myself with a bunch of bananas lol . I could send it back and change it for a lighter power but thats another $88.00 return charge and then id imagine another $88.00 to send the new lighter powered rod back and then customs etc aye. Heard a lot about the bait monkey on here . I think in future i will arm myself with a bunch of bananas lol . Braid should increase the casting distance a bit shouldnt it? Do know if the braid would damage the re-coil guides on the rod though? Look forward to hearing from you . Cheers aye.
  10. Cheers for your response fella . My st croix lbt is also xfast action and the nrx 893c is only my 2nd xfast action rod ive used so unless the nrx xfast action is a lot faster than the st croix lbt xfast action then maybe . But it seems just seems as if the nrx is too powerful for my application . I was advised by many that it would be fine and that 3/8-1/2 oz was the sweet spot on the 893c . Could it be that the rod maybe faulty? or maybe something else? Look forward to hearing you views . Cheers aye
  11. You alright fellas been busy for a while but glad to be back at it aye. I recently purchased the g loomis nrx 893c g as my second baitcasting rod purchase and paired it with a daiwa steez but until i get the new suline shooter im using my tatula type r on it at the moment . problem is for some reason the rod is not loading properly on the cast and is casting nowhere near as far as my 7 foot st croix ltb rated as a medium light-medium with the same reel, same jigheads and trailers . I know the rods are of different ratings but after doing quite a bit of research and talking i was given the impression that 3/8ths + trailer was the sweet spot on the nrx 893c so what could be going on. Im casting 3/8 jigheads with 2" - 3" berkley power grubs and also tried zoom swimmin fluke jr . My reel is loaded with 8lb gamma fluorocarbon and i havent used line conditioner yet . Also was disapointed with the sensitivity of the rod a little but have realised this could be down to the fact that gamma edge fluoro has a lot of stretch compared to most tests ive seen doesnt it. Was considering changing the line to 15lb spiderwire invisi-braid or putting the braid on the steez as i use it on my spinning set up and not had any problems with it but have heard and seen issues braid damaging the re-coil guides aye. Could it be i have been unfortunate of receiving a rare dodgy rod ? or am i doing something wrong due to misinterpreting or misunderstanding information ive been reading and the people ive been talking to? Has anyone had or heard of this problem? Anyone got any ideas what could be wrong or how to fix? Look forward to hearing your views and experiences fellas . Cheers aye.
  12. It's like The Matrix (the film ) Rod company names . Model numbers . Rod lengths . Line ratings . Casting weights . Rod action ratings . Downloading ........................ Updating ......................... ################### ################### Lol . Can I start this post again ???
  13. That's meant 893c not 892c aye. What's with me with regards to this post? Lol .
  14. Cheers for your response Hootie aye. (Stiff breeze Lol ) I know the G in g loomis stands for Gary . On the loomis website when listing the different model numbers, applications, line ratings etc , after the 892c jwr bit (for example ) some models have a G after them don't they. Does that mean green.
  15. 5fishlimit: you don't understand. That's probably my fault fella , tiredness kicking in aye. What I meant to say is the steez is light , but with daiwas new t wing system out , the steez has surely got to change hasn't it. When I got my new steez out of the box , I was like. , is this what all the raves about? . The steez is £399.99 over here in the uk . Make more sense now fella?
  16. JohnG: Poster as in poster on the forum named jeb? Lol . I thought you meant jeb as in name that you call someone as in me using the word fella and poster as in a poster board on here aye. That's twice in the last hour now (Epiphany of the stupid kind ) Lol . I think bed times calling now fella aye.
  17. JohnG : green. You alright fella. Have you ever had one of those epiphanies where you realised the obvious and can't believe how you didn't see it in the first place ? Lol . Of course , G Means green as they started with just blue wasn't it, so the blue aren't labelled b . Cheers fella aye. The poster. I have to agree fella aye. It's like. , is that it. It's this what all the raves about? Each to there own and all that aye but my tatula type r had more wow factor , know what I mean. It's light , but I think with the t wing something's gotta change hasn't it. Not fished with it yet though . Who knows , maybe when I do , I'll have a completely different opinion and be singing its praises aye. Any ideas for which nrx jwr fella?
  18. You alright fellas. Meant to say , I received my daiwa steez 100sha 7.1:1 yesterday and it looks nice but I'm not exactly blown away by it . I really expected that when I turn the handle for it to be a lot smoother and solid , all the quality components snug, tightly fitted together, all working as one with no play in the mechanics at all . Not so much disappointed as such , but perhaps expected something super . Perhaps I'll like it more once I've bought a the g loomis nrx jwr put it on aye. Look forward to hearing your views . Cheers aye. Elwood .
  19. You alright fellas. I can't wait much longer and will be ordering my g loomis nrx jwr tonight . But which model would be better suited to my new found fishing style of 7g, 10g and 14g jig heads with a soft plastics between 3"-5" in 4-15ft of water fishing from the bank with 6lb, 8lb and 10lb low diameter fluorocarbon mainline for rivers and canals ? I know on the g loomis website it has the manufacturers guide but I'd rather hear from experienced users aye. Also what does the G mean in nrx jwr (g) ? With regards to handle a,b,c etc which one is better ? Look forward to hearing from you . Cheers aye.
  20. you alright fellas. (Newbie ). Just got in from my 2nd trip down my local canal . Missed couple of bites but also caught a a fair few European perch (my target species ) to just over a pound on a jig head with a zoom swimmin super fluke jr smokin shad aye. By far my favourite of the new soft plastics ive bought that ive used so far and the best session ive had so far with my first casting rod and baitcaster combo . The action of the tails on them things are awesome aren't they. Also had the tail of one bitten off buy a pike . The Daiwa megaforce sonic shad lure tails didnt even move in the water , talk about stiff . They didnt even get a follow never mind a hit aye. Tomorrows all about 4" zoom tube junebug and zoom super hog pumpkin seed , sunday will be gary yakamoto senkos and charlie brewers sliders depending on water and weather conditions . I reckon 2 different soft plastics a trip until : 1) I get through all the soft plastics i have bought . 2) Once i have, to change up the pairs of soft plastics i have paired together until i find the the soft plastics i have the most confidence in also make a mental note if noticed any patterns with regards to catching, not catching and follows in different weather and the clarity water . I will let you know how i get on ok. Out of interest fellas : Whats your biggest bass and what did you catch it on? Also . Whats your go to lure for a bigger stamp of fish? Look forward to hearing your views . Cheers aye.
  21. Finally went out with my first casting rod and baitcaster combo (st croix lbt and daiwa tatula type r with 8lb fluoro all recommended buy you guys in my previous posts ). After watching a video on here on how to set and cast a baitcaster I went down to my local canal and pretty much picked up casting within 20-30 minutes . A few backlashes to begin with but as said it's all in the thumb baby aye. The more I cast the better I got . I was able to have the brakes on settings 2-4 and the tension spool knob set at a fairly fast drop and only using 1 jig and trailer combo to get used to it , I was absolutely blown away with the speed I am able to cast out and after retrieving cast it back out again . The distance I could achieve when I really punched it out there had me drooling at the mouth and the smoothness of the reel on the cast, feeling the line coming off the spool under the lightest hover of my thumb and the control of the lure before hitting the water to produce a quieter sound on entry was ridiculously sick . The enjoyment of reeling back in and not to mention the playing of fish was so much fun , It feels like I'm just in my element aye. To cut a long story short I missed 3 perch from 1lb to about 4lb and 2 jack pike from about 4-7lb and realised the cheap ebay jig heads I had purchased with eagle claw hooks wasnt really piercingly sharp enough, which I will correct but enjoyed it all anyway . I was determined to really drive the hook into the next bite that came along . My last cast as it had got dark and I felt a subtle vibi knock that I just ripped into, not sure if it was a bite or not and hey, what do you know fellas? An 11lb 2oz pike which gave a good account of itself slid over my awaiting landing net . It wasn't my European perch target but was more than welcome . (I was absolutely buzzing ). It's my first predator full stop and it was a shame the picture didn't come out too well but a picture all the same aye. How this type/style of reel is so rarely used over hear is down right moronic in my opinion and I'm not saying spinning reels don't have there place because obviously they do , but WOW . Ive just purchased a daiwa steez 100sha to go with a g loomis nrx jig and worm casting rod that I'm looking to purchase this week for my second combo and also eyeing up an abu garcia revo (mgx is it ???) to go with a frog/surface rod I'm also looking to purchase before the weed growth really kicks in aye. I would just like to say a big cheers aye to bass resources and it's members and all you guys for all the knowledge you have shared aye. Cheers aye, Elwood .
  22. You alright fellas. Does anyone know the difference between the Daiwa Steez 100SHA 7.1:1 and the Daiwa Steez EX100HS 7.1:1? Look foward to hearing from you . Cheers aye.
