Daiwa D-Cast Surprise.....
Bought a cheap daiwa dcast combo a couple months ago as an extra setup just wanted to carry 5. I have been really surprised as to how well it has performed stacked against MUCH more expensive setups. Probably my second favorite behind my quantum smoke. I like it a lot better than my bps collection. Just thought I'd share. I'm always skeptical when I go cheap but this was a pleasant surprise.

Fishing Off The Front Of The Boat
Bank beating no doubt the front has a big advantage. They'll catch most of the way fish up and you're carrying to used water

Misconceptions About Catching Big Bass!!
I've been fishing hard for 20 years. In my area a 7-9lb bass is a trophy. I'm in north Missouri 20 miles from the Iowa line. I've never seen or heard of a double digit bass here which is my goal. Having fished hard for 20 years I've learned a little along the way. A few years back I decided to do nothing but target trophy fish those 7-9lbers around here with the ultimate goal to land a dd bass. Prior to my change in approach my personal best was 8lb 6oz. Since that time I've caught a lot of bass that size and a up to 9lb 2oz. What changed? Bait and retrieve. Instead of 7 inch worms I use 10s and 12s. I've gotten bigger in every area of my tackle. This year I've gotten in to the swimbait craze and its absolutely legit. Do you have to use swimbait to trophy fish? No big plastics, jigs, topwaters are also great lures for catching trophy bass consistently but swimbait will produce almost every time out. I agree with the op that it's all technique. I've gotten a lot better the more I've used it. The more I throw it the more confidence I have in it as well. I can say from experience that you absolutely positively increase your chances of catching big fish by throwing big baits. If your not having success you need to change your presentation. I caught some big fish here and there before I started throwing just big baits but it was sporadic. Now I'm disappointed if I don't put s big bad in the boat every time out.

Starting My Quest For A Big Bass!
Have you tried a storm wild eye shad? They're cheap come in packs of 3 and will produce fish. Btw I wasn't a swim bait guy either but the results are there and its probably my favorite lure now

Starting My Quest For A Big Bass!
If you're targeting big bass and following schools of shad.........Why aren't you fishing a something like a storm wild eye shad below the school? Run it slow and Chang your retrieve sporadically to mimic an injured bait fish. Honestly sometimes the answer is right in front of you. My home lakes primary food source is shad. I've fished for years and never got into swimbaits. Finally decided this year to try it and dang wouldn't you know it I've had more successono my home lake this year than I've ever had. And why wouldn't I? I'm fishing with their primary food source. Just something to think about.

Did Something Stupid Today>It Will Haunt Me Forever
It happens. Fishing is no different than anything else. You'll make mistakes and learn from them. Next time you hook up a monster you'll go back to that mistake in your mind and won't lose it next time. I fish for trophy bass. Nothing else I could care less about catching 50 2lbers. I've made every mistake you can make. And will make more but for the most part the key is just to keep your composure and save the excitement for after the fish is in the boat.

- Big Bassin!
Even bigger.....I landed one that was 5lb 6oz, one 6 lb 10oz, and one 7lb 2oz. You can figure out what is what by the pics but the bigger fish of the two in the first pic I caught on a storm wildeye shad it was the 6lb 10 oz the second pic that fish was caught on a 10 inch ribbon tail power worm in watermelon red flake 7lb 2oz and the 3rd pic is the 5lb 6oz fish caught on a white booyah buzz bait.- Big Bassin!
Ha....no the smaller fish of the two in his hand was 4.5. First pic.- Big Bassin!
Took my cousin out on the boat tonight. He's a learner to catching big bass and he and I had a blast. His biggest weighed 4.5 and he was thrilled. I netted his 4.5 for him and picked up my baitcaster which had a storm wildeye shad on it already casted out 50yds away give it 3 cranks and landed a pig that you see him holding in one hand and his 4.5 in the other. He dropped his fish in the bottom of boat and netted mine so we got a cool pic of a double. He was pumped it was the biggest fish he'd ever seen and he was so excited he had me excited. I landed another one an hour later even bigger. And I thought he was gonna come out of the boat after it. I caught 3 pigs total and he caught his pb so we had a great day!- Help My First Tournament Jitters!!!
It's all for fun. So just go fish and have fun. Best advice I h s v r been given about tournament fishing.- Solo Fishing A Buddy Tournament
Absolutely worth going to. You'll personally have more success as you'll be able to focus on your positioning fishing your style and really it's all about you and what your comfortable with. I'm always very conscientious of my partner and making sure He's happy. Sometimes that affects my own personal success. I always catch more fish and better quality fish solo. It's about me then.- Tournament Fishing
So I've got a tournament Sunday. Probably my favorite lake and tournament of the year. I've been fishing the lake hard and have been having great success there. I have the confidence going in that what I've been doing will continue to work. I've prepared very well for this tournament. For those of you that have fished tournaments do you ever show up the day of and the way you've prepared and had success just doesn't work that day. Did you stick with that to long before changing your tactics? Really that it's my only concern ids that I'll get stubborn and won't be willing to adapt. I've had so much success here of late that I feel I may be to confident that what I've been doing will continue to work if it doesn't kill waste too much time forcing it.- What Buzzbait, What Size, And With Or Without A Clacker?
I preferred booyah with the cracker. Black and white are the only 2 colors I use- Maybe Small But Big Payoffs?
Love the link. And obviously I agree with it. I fish yum 10inch ribbon tails religiously and have great success with them.- Multiple Casts
I agree had that happen tonight. Fished a tree in 15ft of water today I was certain would hold a good fish. I probably threw at it 15 times before I hooked up a 4lb bass- First Bass On My Booyah Clack'n Buzz
You're using the right buzz bait for sure. I've fished them all and I fish a buzz bait hard and the booyah clacker buzz is the best imo- Mid Day Fishing
I have great luck mid day fishin when I get the chance. Seems slow tactics always work the best for me mid day - Big Bassin!
