  1. I was down there this past weekend. We fished Saturday in the rain. We fished up the james out of cape fair. probably caught over 70 fish between the two of us but only three keepers that went for 6 pounds which got us 2nd in a 15 boat tournament. We caught all of our fish on a ned rig and a green pumpkin shakey head. First place caught all ther fish on same as well. Hope this helps!
  2. 2014 Biggest Local Bass Weight (or length if you didn't have a scale): 8.1 pounds Lure: Black and Blue Jig Chigger Craw Trailer Pattern: Pitching a Jig Lake: Grindstone lake Cameron, MO Time of Year: End of October
  3. White but I draw three or four lines on the belly of the bait with a black Sharpe.
  4. I was down there last weekend and the spook bite was on! Also caught some on a black and blue jig on the pea gravel on the backs of docks. Caught fish on a buzzbait at night but only caught one small fish on it during the day.
  5. Used to be a bank fisherman and James a Reed is the place to go. I think they have 10 to 15 body's of water ranging from ponds to small lakes. My favorite were bordarc and catlaw. I have only fished there once this year, but the day I went I smoked the little ones. I think I caught like 30+ in a few hours, but only a couple of them were over 2 pounds.
  6. I have a few more questions. Is there a tournament every week? and what time does the tournament end?
  7. Never been out there, always wanted to try it. Do you have to get a boat permit like what you have to do for the jackson county lakes?
  8. Hey guys pretty new to the forum. Have been reading through and read about the lake Olathe tournament. I fish out of a kayak and was wondering if I could fish the tournament. I just need some more info, thanks for the help.
  9. I hope you will be night fishing or fishing up the river near Truman dam. My buddy just bought a lake house up the river on lake of the ozarks so i will be down there quite a lot this summer.
  10. Hey Guys need some help going to Pomme De Terre on Saturday for a Tbf tournament. Have not been there since last October and need some help?
  11. Well there are two boat ramps, the south boat ramp is part of the boat docks. I don't know if you have to keep your boat there to use that ramp but I have not checked into that. The one I use is the north boat ramp which is part of the marina and has two nice tie out docks and the ramp is huge it is like a 6 boat ramp. Also you can check out parire lee lake. I have only fished it a few times, but caught some nice fish. I think you can use a 75 h.p. on it so there are some larger boats on it but is way better then longview. Also there on boat docks on it and different types of cover then any other local lakes
  12. Well I plan to be on the water tomorrow morning on Lake Jacomo. I have not been since last Monday but last Monday they were still on the main lake stuff, I caught a four pounder and two 15 inchers. Caught one in a brush pile, one on the dam, and one right inside a main spawing creek. All fish came in about 3-to-5 foot of water. Water temps in around 55-56 degrees. To answer your question no they were not spawing yet they weren't even in the backs of the creeks yet. I caught all three of those fish on a crock-er-gator green pumpkin jig with a uv tightlines beaver trailer. Once the water temps get around 60-65 degrees they will start to spawn. A buddy of mine fished Stockton this weekend and he said the fish where spawing in every cove and pocket. The water temp down there is about 63-64 degrees so it should only be a matter of days before the fish move back in to the spawing pockets in some of our local lakes.
  13. I don't know how big of a motor you have on your boat but if you have a 25 h.p. our less. You might want to check out Lake Jacomo very good lake if you are into shallow fishing. You can go down the bank and flip grass and catch 2 pounder after 2 pounder. Also you can fish some of the weekly tournaments out at lake jacomo and learn from some of those guys. It is also a very good way you get away from the fishing pressure like on longveiw lake or blue springs. My name is Charlie baker you can text me at 816-4010182 if you need any more info.
  14. Lake jacomo is one of my favorite lakes. I if you get out there on a week day there is nobody out there. Smithville lake is a very tough lake to fish you have you really know the lake to do well there. Lake jacomo in the summer time is a grass fisherman dream. You can go down the bank and catch keeper after keeper on a brush hog flipping grass. You are right on some days you cant go down the bank with out passing a few boats, Another option would be to go a little north and fish some of the smaller MDC lakes or city lakes. If you don't mind traveling 2 hours you could go to Mizingo lake witch was ranked 79th on the best bass lakes in America by B.A.S.S. this year. There are some pretty good lakes around kc you just have to fish them to find out if they are good or not.
