  1. I don't know what water clarity your fishing but chartreuse/ black back is always a pretty good choice
  2. Just go for a natural colored crankbait, bluegill, or shad something like that... The type of crankbait is up to you. If your asking if crankbaits work in clear water the answer is yes.
  3. 1. KVD 1.5 in chartreuse/black back 2. H2O CRS in bluegill 3. Bomber square A in oxbow Those are my three favorites
  4. I put then in a pile and when the pile is big enough I put them in a bottle with a lid and toss them in the trash...
  5. There are 2 or 3 that are 3-4 pounds but almost all of them are about 2lbs
  6. It has gobs of minnows and plenty of thumb sized bluegill, it also has crawfish shooting around all the time so there is plenty to eat. The bluegill population are very healthy and grow to decent sizes. I dont mind if the bluegill population gets hurt by the bass because I just want to focus on the bass atm
  7. You would be surprised how top waters can draw fish from deep water so well, a fish that's got the intent to strike will swim from 15 feet deep to hit a top water in the blink of an eye.
  8. Squarebill cranks there's always gonna be some bass feeding shallow and that's where the squarebill shines, I wouldn't be afraid to say its in the top 5 bass lures ever made heck maybe even #1???
  9. Hey guys I have a question we have this pond in our yard we recently stocked with bass. Before it only had bluegill and 2 male catfish. We put 20-25 bass in it a few months ago does this seem like to many? Should I catch some out? Here is a picture, its not a very big pond its pretty small. Its about the size of a neighborhood house's small front lawn Id like for it to be healthy and not crowded, Where the bass will grow and not get stuck at a pound or so...
  10. My go to bait when the fishing is slow is the KVD 1.5 and if I can't get a bite with that I'll go to a Texas rigged trick worm.
  11. If you would have posted this in the small mouth section you probably would have got some good replys from smallie Fishermen
  12. Yeah power pro super 8 slick is the best, most places sell 150 yard spools at 20-25$
  13. I can never get enough of bill dance or jimmy Houston haha
  14. I think its a good idea but they didn't hit the nail on the head with this one, I would love to see them make a new floating buzz bait based off the feedback from this one...
  15. Arbogast Buzz Plug The Buzz Plug is essentially a pear-shaped floating buzzbait and looks like a lure that bucketmouths would crush. Based on our guides’ findings, though, it may not become an Arbogast classic, like the Jitterbug and the Hula Popper. “Only having two relatively small hooks on the back creates problems,” Nathan Fields said. “It’s heavy, so when you get hooked up, it’s hard to keep the fish on.” But there are advantages. I liked how I could stop and go without needing to reel the lure back to the surface to keep the buzz going. Several guides also pointed out that the lure casts a mile. Overall, the panel seems to think that Arbogast is onto something but needs to make a few tweaks. Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars MSRP: $6 Number of bass caught during testing: 22 Wolak’s Take: Buzzbaits are great at night, but you can’t stop when retrieving. This one can rest afloat, so it could become a nighttime killer. Positive: "The fact that you can stop this bait if a fish misses it is huge. If that happened, I’d give it a twitch and entice another strike.” —Brian Carper Negative: "It’s a unique lure, but because of the odd shape and the small hooks, I don’t see it taking off.” —Brian Boyer Edit: by the way this is taken out of a field and stream magazine from when they did the 2014 battle of the bass lures
  16. I didn't like it. The 2 hooks in the back just don't get the fish, if it had a treble hooks system it would be much better but I just don't care for the action or the "frog profile" it claims to have... Id rather just fish a normal buzz bait or frog and call it a day. They are alot of companies trying to make 2 in 1 lures lately and it seems like they are not to great... EDIT : But who am I to tell you not to try it! Go out a throw it around a see for yourself just because I don't like it doesn't mean you wont. I have heard from some people who liked it.
  17. I've talked to people who only use slow reels like 6 or below for everything, I just think they're crazy and really at a disadvantage, the only time I use a 5.5 is for deep cranks not one other thing except the occasional deep spinnerbait. If your using a 5.5 reel for Texas rigs, spinnerbaits, etc. . you need to just try a 7 or 8:1 reel for awhile and see if you ever go back... Its funny because they always say that the power is why they like the low speed reels haha I did however see a video awhile back (don't know how long ago) of KVD using a 5 something for a lipless crank and he said he used it so he wouldn't reel to fast lol
  18. I was asking more along the lines of losing knot strength over time, I know for my lures and stuff after a good bit of catching fish I'll retie to get a new fresh knot and was just wondering if y'all do the same with leader...
  19. Lol I still use my bantam 100's and I'm not sure what the gear ratio is exactly but it has to be somewhere between 4-5 haha
  20. When you guys go out fishing do you ever retie your leaders during the trip or just have a new leader tied on every trip and use it all day? Was just wondering because I'm not super familiar with leaders and I'm starting to use them more.
  21. Most company's are "knock off" companies of each other. Strike kings new rage bug is a remake of the BPS river bug from what I read on another topic. Guess they are a knock off company too.
  22. For serious tournament fishermen where every fish counts it is definitely worth the extra but for an angler only out for their own enjoyment I'll do fine with my 4-6$ lure.
  23. First impressions on the 14lb sunline super fluorocarbon are okay, for a leader line its everything I need, its sensitive and strong but it has a good bit of memory, after catching 3 couple # bass it would bend a lot on a slack line. But I do like it, I will also pick up a spool of seguar red label and try it after I have a few trips with this sunline to see if I like it better. Thanks for the pointers guys
