  1. Beautiful fish. If you have the length and girth, you can always use the BR fish weight calculator. I've found it to be pretty accurate. I'd guess around 6 lbs each.
  2. 6'6"-7' medium fast is my preference for a jerkbait/topwater rod. I like two different combos or at least 2 different reels or spools for jerkbaits and topwaters because of line. I like 10-12 fluoro or mono for jerks, and 16-20 lb mono or braid for topwaters. I guess 20-30 lb braid with leader as needed would be a good in-between. Anyways do you have a price range for the rod itself? Around $200 there's plenty of options, as you can see. Dobyns, phenix, and st croix are excellent choices.
  3. Well I hope it opens soon. Sounds like rain could help speed up the process. I bet it'll be great fishing when it opens! It's a long drive but by then ill be driving so I don't have to talk my mom into it.
  4. I want one! That looks like a blast!
  5. X2. I've found that color doesn't really matter, whether I'm fishing for smallmouth, rainbow trout, or brook trout. The size is more important. Location is also key, like mass bass said.
  6. Any news on when san vicente reservoir in San Diego will re-open? I heard December 2015 is that true? Sounds like the fishing will be great when it opens, except about every single bass fisherman in SoCal will be there it seems like lol.
  7. We just watched polar express tonight. Pretty good. We watch its a wonderful life every year, thats a classic. Ya the squirrel scene is hilarious. So is the sled scene lol.
  8. They're perfect for shakeyheads but great for other finesse techniques like dropshotting, light texas rigs, and even darter heads. Btw that's an amazing deal!
  9. Very true. Everybody has their personal preferences. So I guess there's no "best" braid.
  10. I guess the conquest dc+ 50 is the next best thing. A low profile would be cool though. Maybe in a faster gear ratio too.
  11. Tried power pro and its a lot louder than other braids I've tried. Wasn't really expecting that, doesn't really matter but it kind of annoys me, also it doesn't cast as well and the color bleeds ALOT. Overall wasn't that impressed its a decent line for the money, maybe super slick is better idk. FX2 gets my vote for 50#+, maxima ultragreen for 40#- and 15 lb on spinning gear.
  12. Catching my PB largemouth is definitely one of my favorite fishing memories. Also the day I caught my PB smallmouth. Catching panfish and my first bass on crickets and panther martins down at the river a couple years ago when I was getting into fishing. Fishing in Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada on family road trips. To name a few;)
  13. The worm binders are a nice touch. Really great feature very handy for storing plastics. Especially at the $50 sale price I'd say go for the TW pack its hard to beat IMO.
  14. The tackle warehouse pack might not be the most well-made but I really like the layout.
  15. I forgot about that one! Great movie.
  16. Well it's that time of year and I'm bored. What's your favorite Christmas movie? Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation is one of my favorites. What's yours?
  17. Congrats on a nice December bass. I agree with bammer that anything over 12 inches this time of year is a good fish. It's been a tough month for me so far.
  18. Hardbaits, plastics, and jigs. Not asking for any rods and reels this year. I'm going to try to get a job right after Christmas when school slows down a little. That'll be the best gift of all lol. I need a steady income to afford the bait monkey!
  19. Also the snag proof Bobby's buzz frog can be killer in ponds and around weeds. Throw it on your frog set-up of course.
  20. Happens to me sometimes fishing from my friend's boat we'll be on a good spot and start catching some good ones and some guys will start "drifting" towards the point or break were fishing. Pretty soon they're fishing right next to us! Doesn't really bother me though.
  21. Braid is a good choice as far as line goes. 20-50 lb depending on the size of the buzz bait and cover. I like a softer rod, like a medium-fast, that usually comes down to personal preference. A fast reel is ideal, 7:1-9:1. I don't use trailers just skirt. Best times to fish them can be spring through late fall, depending on where your fishing. Mega strike cavitrons and strike kings are good choices as far as the buzz bait itself goes. 1/4-3/8 seems to be the ideal weight.
  22. I like mono because of the stretch but its not very abrasion resistant which can be a problem especially in grass where I usually throw traps. Fluorocarbon is probably the best choice. Haven't tried it, but sunline reaction FC looks almost perfect for this application.
