This is an interesting topic. Thanks for all the helpful posts WRB. A couple questions: how do you make your jigs? Also, are there any other jigs besides the *** you would recommend from tackle warehouse?

I use 12# big game or 16# super natural of the same diameter. I plan to switch to 19 lb sunline defier armilo this spring.

Ms American shad. I love spring craw and chartreuse shad as well.

My personal best smallmouth, 4.5 lbs. I lost a 5-6 lber that day, probably the hardest hit I've had.

I've found southern utah (St George area) to be excellent bass fishing. Must be Salt Lake City area too many people.

Plastic: Senko and dropshot. Hardbait: 1.5 or 2.5 squarebill. Throw a jig in there as well.

I always thought Alabama would be a nice place to live. Haven't been there, but it seems like compared to Texas the weather would be a little better and less people. Plus mountains in some areas. How's the fishing compared to Texas?

Welcome to the forum! Where are you located in colorado? I've fished from pagosa springs in southwest to horsetooth reservoir in northeast. Echo lake near pagosa was some of the easiest fishing I've seen. Senkos, flukes, swimming flukes, tubes, skinny dippers, toads, frogs, craws, just about anything I had with me seemed to work. I would especially recommend senkos and gitzits. Fish them s-l-o-w on 8-10 lb flouro.

That's what I would suggest as well, even though I don't have one (yet). Usually I just throw 3xds-6xds, but I was throwing my friend's 10xd with his phenix X10 (rated to 1 ounce) and it felt way overloaded. So I would suggest at least an 805, 806 perfect.

Depends on the rod. Some are more versatile than others. A 7'-7'3" mh mod-fast can be used for a lot more applications than an 8' moderate deep cranking. Spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, topwaters, chatterbaits, and about anything else with treble hooks within the lure weight rating of the rod.

I'm a diehard sunline user, but I bought a spool of 12 lb and I've had a ton of breakage problems. 8 lb big game of the same diameter has been much stronger and abrasion resistant. However, I've used 6 lb super natural on spinning gear and its been pretty strong, so it may be that I got a bad spool idk.
