Renosky Frog Buzzbait
I ordered some swim baits from Renosky a couple years ago, for nostalgia's sake (I've had one in my tacklebox since I was a kid). Anyway, quality was extremely poor. The first one I tied on started to fall apart after just a few casts. Come to think of it, the swim action wasn't really impressive either. I highly doubt I'll be ordering anything else from them.

Battery Question
Its not ideal, but it will work in a pinch. It will, however, shorten the lifespan of a cranking battery much faster than normal use. Cranking batteries are designed to to provide high current for short periods of time. If they are discharged or kept at a low charge state for extended periods, it can lead to sulfation of the plates. If you do use your cranking battery to run a trolling motor, I would recommend not running it down below 50%, and charging it back up immediately after use.

How To Control Distance To Target With Spinning Reel
If i'm trying to be accurate, I cast with my fingertip on the top rim of the spool rather than pinching the line against the rod handle. That way, if you need to slow your lure down or stop it in the target area, you can just press your finger back against the top rim of the spool. Kind of the same concept as using your thumb to slow down the spool on a baitcaster - just with a different finger.

New Season Of Rivermonsters This Sunday!!
I think that show would be way more entertaining if he used those River Monsters branded rod & reel combos they've been selling in WalMart. If he does a show on that, I'd be all in.

Walmart Stopping Ammo Again?? Does Anyone Know??
Its my understanding that they leave some of those decisions up to the local manager of each store. There are 4 WalMart stores within 30 minutes of me and none of them carry firearms. Its also darn near impossible to find anyone that can print out a hunting or fishing license. They all have a small ammo display, but that's it. On the other hand, I've been to a few WalMart stores in the southern end of the state, and they still have a full-time guy at the sporting goods desk and a rack full of 870's and 10/22's. Go figure.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I was doing ok till I walked through the local Walmart the other day. They had all of the Yum F2 stuff tossed in the $1.89 bargain box. Ended up walking out the door with all the Dingers and Crawpapi's I could carry. I still made it out under $30, so it wasn't a total disaster.

Any Double Barrel Fans?
I do love a good old-fashioned side by side. Nothing better for chasing some rabbits around.

300 Blackout Ar15?
Nice build. I think my next one is gonna be in .300 BLK, too. Always wanted one since they first came out.

Concealed Carry 380
+1 more for LCP. I have one and it rides in the front pocket really well. The lines lend well to drawing from the pocket without snagging. The DeSantis Nemesis holster is perfect, too. You can carry it in cargo shorts all day and never print. Accuracy is amazing for a compact and reliability is NOT an issue. Have hundreds of rounds through mine with zero failures. Recoil is a bit obnoxious, but its totally manageable. Besides, its a compact - not a target pistol. Anything that lightweight is gonna have a little bark to it. Plus, i really like the DAO trigger system. I think its the safest way to carry in condition 1.

Convince Me
Slick tricks are some of the best flying fixed broadheads you can get. Muzzys are good, but might take some tuning. I haven't taken a deer with Grim Reapers, but I hear good things about them. They're not on your list, but my personal favorite are Magnus Stingers.

Muck Boot Company Supports Hsus
Sorry, i have 13's. I'm not rich enough to toss boots, anyway. When my Mucks wear out, I'll probably take a look at Lacrosse instead.

Scent Elimination
Some guys go the opposite direction and smoke their clothes. Just build a little camp fire and hang your clothes where the smoke blows. You can spray all the products you want and you'll never be scent free. Your time will be better spent playing the wind!

Trail Cams
Ive heard mixed reviews on Wildgame Innovations cameras. I have one and its still running, but im not sure I'd get another. I do have a couple Spypoint cameras that have been in the field for a few seasons, and they're still working well.

Muck Boot Company Supports Hsus
Does anyone else find it odd that a company in the business of making and selling boots to hunters and farmers would support a borderline fraudulent organization that is openly anti-agriculture, anti-hunting, and (even worse) anti-fishing? https://www.facebook.com/MuckBoot/photos/pb.328222526920.-2207520000.1407199380./10152231142396921/?type=3&theater

Disrespectful People
This is a common courtesy issue, to me. If I wanna fish a dock, I'm gonna fish it, but I know my casting accuracy ain't that great so I'm not gonna fish all that close to someone's nice shiny boat. On the flip side, if my boat is in the dock, feel free to fish under it. I just ask the same level of courtesy - if you suck at casting as bad as I do, don't throw so close. When it comes to 'no fishing' signs and anti-fishing devices, I might give a little extra space around them, but not much. However, the one thing I won't do is engage in a confrontation over it. If the boat owner is there and wants to raise a stink about it, I'm just gonna cruise on by. I go fishing to relax and having an argument over a few lousy square feet of water doesn't fit into that program for me, regardless of who's right or wrong. As for shore fishermen, I give them a wide berth. I fish from shore on occasion, and it was my only option before I had a boat. When I'm boating I have access to many acres of water that they don't, so I see no reason to crowd them whatsoever.

What Happens After A Bullet Hits A Deer?
You can use rifles that are chambered in pistol cartridges in Indiana now. I think the shotgun slug states became so more because of the population density rather than the flatness of the ground. Look at some of those western states like the Dakotas and Nebraska. Lots of flats, but no one to possibly hit...lol To me it's a common sense thing, though. Us eastern deer hunters tend to spend a lot of time in treestands. Most shots are at a significant downward angle, so the bullet passes through the deer and hits dirt. Not to mention being in timber, your shot is gonna get stopped by a tree anyway. Now, after a long days hunt and the frustration of not seeing anything, you walk out of the timber and see a deer standing out ing the bean field...that's when you really gotta be sure of your target and what's behind it.

Lews Speed Spin
So, for my birthday, I managed to score a Lew's Speed Spin, 100 size. 200 might be more versatile, but I'm not about to look a gift horse (reel) in the mouth. Anyway, I'm looking for ideas on how to get the most out of it. So, if y'all don't mind, please let me know what rod (length and power, particularly) and what line would you use with it?

Ruger LCP with LaserMax laser. Light weight, amazingly accurate, and Ruger reliability. What more could you want?

Trusty Home Defense Gun
I love AR's, but they don't seem like they'd be too handy in the confines of a house. A shotgun is only gonna be marginally better because at close range the pattern will still be pretty darn tight. On the other hand, shotguns are a little better designed for the quick point and shoot reaction type shots. I'll always have the Remy 870 ready, but I also have a pistol ready with a light/laser combo on it. I figure that way I have all my bases covered.

What Happens After A Bullet Hits A Deer?
Bullets do skip if you shoot from ground level especially if the soil is frozen. I'd have more than 200 yards behind the target if it's flat ground.

Bows And Such
This is my old bow and a target I shot with it. Its a Bear Encounter with a Whisker Biscuit rest and a Dead Nuts Solo Shot sight. I shoot a Mathews MR8 now, but I don't think I have any pics of it. I will post as soon as I find some or take some, whichever comes first.

I'm Trying Mechanical Broad Heads This Year
You're right, I did not specify. However the title of the thread is regarding broadheads, so I thought the archery theme was implied. I suppose you could gut shoot a deer with a bazooka, and it will eventually expire. I will admit that you can get lucky and knick an artery if you gut shoot one with an arrow, but that's not always the case. Remember that with archery gear, your damage is limited to the cutting diameter of the broadhead, whereas hydrostatic shock from a rifle bullet or shotgun slug can rupture things that are not that close to the actual wound channel. It is possible to recover a gut shot deer if you let it lay down and die, but most guys get impatient, go looking, and bump the deer and never find it.
