Thanks Slonezp! I live in Lake Zurich and have fished the lake a couple of times and have only caught 2 small bass. I used to work in Wauconda and have fished Bangs many of times and caught some nice sized fish... I need to stop in Wauconda boat and check out those pictures. My sights are now set on Vulcan Lake ( 3 Oaks Rec Area) in Crystal Lake, I guess there are some pretty nice sized fish in that lake.

Interesting! I have never tried that technique, but I would love to catch 5lbers in this area haha. What lake were you fishing?

I love me some bargain bin. I have used the CC crank baits and have had some success with them. If you dig deep in the bins you can find some pretty unique color combination and lip types on the cranks and jerk baits.

Thanks for the Info guys. I realized I posted the picture of the newer version. My reel is actually the older version with the " insta-gage" thumb bar. If i was to turn the reel into my pitching and flipping set up - what size rod would I look to buy?

I recently came across a Shimano Castic reel. My dad won it on a company fishing trip a couple years ago and never used it. It had some cob webbs on it and the grease seemed to harden a bit over the years, so I had it tuned up at my local fishing shop Anglers Intl. I do not know much about this reel - I'm wondering if any of you guys have used one in your lifetime and if so what type of Rod/ line/ fishing style would you use with this reel? Thanks!

Does anyone know of where I could buy black blades for a chatterbait? Or is there a manufacturer that makes them with black blades? I was watching bassmasters last weekend and one of the pros was killing it with a chatterbait that had a green head, green skirt and black blade.

My local Wal-Mart is actually pretty nice. I snagged a Abu Garcia Black Max combo that was on the clearance rack with a red sticker for $35..obviously mis marked. They also have those $1.50 boxes that have some hidden treasures in them. That being said, I also live 20 minutes from a Cabelas and about 35 minutes from BPS, so I usually spend my free time and money at those stores.

I would have to say 95% hollow body. I know they look cheap and usually come in variety packs, but my best luck has been with Scum Frogs. I have definitely had the most hook ups on them.

Yes.. I had a couple.. 1. Use more Texas rigged plastics 2. Use more crankbaits I have accomplished both and caught fish on both set ups...win! Oh yeah and I wanted to use more frogs! I did this and caught a PB on a black and yellow ( Steelers) Scum Frog!!
