  1. Ya Cgrinder I looked the *** black actually. You think that's better than the lamiglass? Anything for 99.99 would be perfect because of the $15 bucks off.
  2. Hey guys. I need a new baitcasting rod for my lews speed spool. I am looking on tackle warehouse so I can save some money. I am looking at the Lamiglass Bass Excel II. I am just a little iffy. I really like the looks of it and I saw one good review. There aren't any other reviews that I've seen. Therefore I'm hesitant because it seems not many people have purchased them. Please give me some recommendations from Tackle Warehouse ONLY. Just because of the sale and I have a tight budget. About $87. So any recommendations are appreciated. And if anyone knows about the Bass Excell II, please let me know. Thanks!
  3. It felt natural for me to go with a left handed reel. Because I've used spinning all through fishing. So I will tell you don't get a left handed. You will adapt to right handed baitcast reels so quickly and if you get a left handed you'll regret it. It felt confortable for me to get left handed too but I tried my friends and his felt right in my hand. But others are different. Just try out both a left and right handed. During casting, reeling, and just holding it
  4. Spend $159.99 and get the PQ reel on the JM Carbonlite combo. Best of both. I love mine.
  5. Ya exaggerated on everything. I was ticked off. Really mad because of that backlash. I was really only spend about $20 on line, but $15 of it was for new line to go on my new reel. So that doesn't count. I hit a tree and got a backlash. And I didn't see the tree so that's why. And today I got one cuz I couldn't see the water because of the sun. Therefore I didn't see when the bait hit the water and bang... Backlash. So I'm much better at casting that all of you think. I can do the over head cast pretty well. And the side arm cast decent. But when I side arm cast it is gets a little loose. Not necessarily a backlash. I just have to pull out about a foot of line and then I'm good. So ya I just needed to rant a little bit. Thanks for all of your input tho guys. Means a lot!
  6. Ya I know how to cast a baitcaster. All of my backlashes have been from hitting trees I didn't know were there, unable to see because of the sun, or just an accidental catch in the line. I'm just wondering if y'all had to buy this much line. I recently bought a 700 yd spool of 17 lbs test cajun line.
  7. Also. Any tips on setting the brakes, tension and drag, for each bait I mention would probably help. I have a Pro Qualiier so it's dual braking. I use: 3/8 and 1/2 oz spinnerbaits 1/2 chatterbaits with and without a swim trailer XPS Rattle Shads by BPS *** 4" Trick Sticks with 1/4 bullet And that's about all I'm throwing at the moment.
  8. Hey. I'm having some problems. As you've seen in the earlier thread I posted, I'm having serious backlash problems. I've heard people have problems with backlashes when first starting out, but I think I may have some more significant problems. Everytime I go fishing, I end up getting a really bad backlash. So the bottom line is, I have bought soooo much line. I've tried taking the backlashes out and a few small ones have come out, but the ones above haven't. So I had to cut it. I have bought probably $30 worth of line. In a week. And I'm using it up. Did y'all have to buy this much when you first started baitcasting?
  9. So mono? Is cajun line any good for a baitcaster. I've only tried it on a spinning rod and I liked it
  10. Ya I ended up cutting another piece of line that I shouldn't have. I casted again in my yard today but had more room to cast farther. I casted and a good length of line with my jig on it came off and the line left got tangled under another knot. Not a backlash but a wierd not that I can't get out. I now only have 30 yards or less so I'm just gonna take it off and get some cajun line. Is cajun Ref Lightning good for a pro qualifier baitcast reel? I've used it and like it, I just don't know if I'm gonna buy it and end up screwing it up again. Let me know. Thanks
  11. I heard from a guy at bass pro. I'm gonna pick one up at some point
  12. Alright guys. I started to cut my line, and I cut everything on the surface that was popping out. I found the end that was connected to the line that was around the spool. I pulled and pulled, and ended up not even taking off 20 yards. Maybe like 15 yards. So I have about 110 yards of untangled unbacklashed line ready togo. Thanks DVT and everyone else that helped me on my first really bad backlash!
  13. Ya. I tried but there is so much line popping out that I can't get to the loops. I will try tho. It's worth a shot. C'mon guys keep replying while I try this. I know there has got to be some more tricks.
  14. Ya I got in about 50 casts actually. But I tried the thumb trick 20 times. Where you hold the spool and reel. But ya I guess what's next is to cut the line?
  15. Hey guys. Just got my new baitcaster. I was practicing casting in the yard and got an insane backlash. I tried pulling and the line stopped. So I tried the thumb trick about 20 times and it doesn't work. I just got new seaguar red label so I want to try everything before I cut my line. Anyone? I'm going fishing really soon so any quick responses are appreciated. Thanks.
  16. Hey I will be buying a BPS Pro Qualifier and I need a rod to pair it up with. I have the choice between the XPS Extreme and the Carbonlite. The Extreme is on sale for $80 and the carbonlite is already paired with a pro qualifier as a combo at BPS. So they are only $10 different. The Extreme being $10 more. While I like the look of the Extreme more, I still haven't tried it while I have tried the carbonlite. I love the carbonlite. But the Extreme looks better when paired with the PQ. So what I'm asking is, have you tried both and what do you prefer. Have you tried the XPS Extreme and do you like it? I will be buying a 6'6" Med Hvy rod. And I'll be using the rod and reel for spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and chatterbaits. Thanks for your help in advance! If you have another suggestion on a rod let me know. I don't wanna pay more than $180 on a rod and reel. Also, If y'all have a Duckett or another rod for sale hmu. Thanks again!
  17. I understand the different prices. But just pretend the prices are $60 for each. Which one would you get? Here's a link to the specs. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshimanocitica200d.html http://m.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Nitro-Tournament-Z-Baitcast-Reel/product/1303270646333/
  18. Yes @aprw1 it still catches
  19. Ok thanks. Any other suggestions? Or anyone with experience in this problem?
  20. No. I did at first and it caught on it, and not I switched to bps mono, suffix mono, and cajun mono. Nothing works
  21. My shimano caenan is acting up. I just got it from a friend and it has scuffs. But I thought it worked fine. When ever I cast it the line stops feeding out. It literally catches on something and then backlashes. Every cast. I tried switching line three times but it keeps catching. I cast and the line stops feeding at the same length and same spot everytime. Does any know anything that could be wrong? I really need to know tonight because I'm going fishing in the morning. Thanks in advance guys.
