  1. Awesome! I'm up for it whenever. I've been dying to get some fishing done since I moved to gardner. Just hard from the banks.
  2. I'd fish any tourney I could if you could put me with a boater.
  3. Thanks for the info. I'm a bass fisherman so I'd love to get on some if I could. If I have to hit the saltwater side I'd like to stay inshore and hit some reds. Looks really similar to bass fishing. Any thoughts?
  4. Hey guys, I'm heading to HH in a week and will be there for 10 days. Looking to get a line wet. Anyone have any tips on some freshwater fishing? Just fishing from the bank is fine, ( as long as it doesn't turn me into gator bait) I wouldn't mind possibly doing a fresh water guide if any are out there. Thanks guys
  5. Thanks for the info guys. I like the idea of talking to my boater after the draw to gauge his experience and style of fishing. That will probably help me cut a lot of "un needed" tackle out (don't tell my wife that any of it is un needed).
  6. Hey guys! Just wanted to get some opinions. I have been a boater for every tournament I have ever fished so storage has never been a problem. Now however, I will be fishing as a co-angler in local clubs and eventually some BFL events. What is the best storage system for a co-angler? Coming from a boater I have around 18 sto-way boxes and then another 4 or so terminal boxes. I understand I can bring all that in another boat, but I would like to have my variety be plentiful... Any suggestions? Thanks guys
  7. Trial and error with it. Some guys will tell you to pop it, some guys will say drag and stop, others will say slow roll it. It's what works best for you and your technique. You can fish trigs, crigs, and jigs deep. Guys are even starting to modify arigs for down deep. GL
  8. I've heard it to. Definitely sends chills thinking about what is near you in the darkness. Buddy's must be some avid hunters to have trail cams out this time of year. Watching food plots I assume?
  9. Take it fishing and then post the pictures of the fish you catch... 20 minutes of fishing with it will answer every question you have about it far better than we can... Good luck!
  10. Not that this has anything to do with fishing, but where can a guy buy fireworks around Gardner? Not use to living in a place where fireworks are illegal... Thanks guys.
  11. I'm not saying that waiting on the ripples to clear doesn't work, I'm just saying you won't catch me spending the time to clear. I start retrieving almost instantly and never have problems getting strikes. The only time I ever let it sit, is if I see and am targeting a single fish.
  12. This. Rod tip up a little, when you see the blow up stop your retrieve and follow what he said. Nothing worse trying to set the hook with your rod already up and line tight because you continued to reel.
  13. You guys throw them on twist lock hooks also?
  14. Any of you guys throw something more durable than a horny toad? I understand a hollow body frog works but sometimes the action of a horny toad is better
  15. That's for both days. There is A LOT of money in this tournament. Like I said... It's a crap shoot. If you catch a 4 pounder, you probably win your money back. If you catch a 5-6 pounder probably $500-1000. If you catch a 7+... Thousands.... Here is the link http://www.midwestfishtournaments.com/lozfall_bbb.html , I definitely recommend this event. If you decide to go, get in touch with me. I've got a connection for stupid cheap condos.
  16. Peanut butter jelly, black blue. Not sure what won it last year, but a swim bait wouldn't surprise me. 2 years ago a 13 year old kid had first for all but the last 2 hours of the 2 day tourney. He caught a 7 something on a perch swim bait. What ended up winning it was on a black blue jig under a dock walk way in less that 2 feet of water.
  17. The black omega buzz bait is killer on LOZ. A buddy and I fished a union tournament and had a 28# bag and took 1st with that buzz bait. Fish in the usual spots I mentioned above. If you throw at the bank out it as close to the bank as possible. Had a 6.43 kicker inhale the buzz 6" off the bank. Depends what depth the fish are. 2 years ago at the fall bash we had a stupid cold front come through, reels were freezing up running across the lake... Then we were fishing 25-30 ft of water with 1oz omega jigs and havoc trailers. My favorite jig in the world is a 3/8 oz finesse flipping jig by jewel with a jewel Eakins craw. A lot of bass, especially at LOZ have had a case of sore mouth over that jig
  18. Thinking black buzz bait in between docks, along cables, walk ways and over chunk rock flats. Will probably be throwing a jig 90% of the time. Any thoughts of a nail weighted super fluke skipped under docks? Basically with 2200-2500 people fishing this thing it's basically a crap shoot, but I love fishing the lake, try to take a long weekend there every fall anyways... So why not pay the extra $175 and try to get lucky?
  19. Anyone doing any fishing this evening or tomorrow evening wanting some company? I'm dying to get out.
  20. Black Omega buzz bait + lake of the Ozarks is a match made for any fisherman!
  21. Hey guys, just wanted some fun conversation. I will be fishing the big bass bash again in October. If you had to pick 1 rig and one structure and a certain depth range to put that 7+ pounder in the boat.... What would it be? I am a jig man so I would flip and pitch docks with 12' and shallower. Start at the face of the dock and work my way to the bank. How about you?
