  1. That's my guess. I had this happen last year flipping a lizard up in shallow boat slips. Guessing around 30lb flathead. I set the hook, saw him for a flash in the shallow water (guessing in that same flash he saw the boat) and I never got him off the bottom again. Could literally feel him grinding the line... Was a heck of a ride while it lasted, felt like 30 minutes but was probably 30 seconds!
  2. Love the top water action, but hate the % of lost fish/missed bites with top water. By far my favorite is flipping/pitching/skipping a jig. Rocks, think nasty cover, willows, skipping under docks... Nothing in the world like it. Another would be shaky head fishing docks/rocks.
  3. Thanks for the input guys. I've owned 3 bass boats. First was a 82 champion, second was a 94 170 rick clunn nitro. Third was an 88 basscat pantera. The champion was a decent boat, but motor was junk. The nitro was amazing but it couldn't store my rods and only had a 90hp.... So I sold and upgraded to the basscat that had all the room I could ever want and 175 ponys to get me where I needed ( very handy on Lake of the Ozark tourneys). But just didn't feel like home to me ya know? I love Nitro boats. The right ones have a ton of fishing deck, miles of storage, and can down right scoot on the water and handle rough water. Saying that, the right ranger has all of that as well... So let me rephrase my opinion question..... If you had $10k to spend and you wanted to get the best Tournament boat you can ( tournaments would be local club, ABA, and eventually BFL. ) which would you go with.
  4. 119 views and no replies? Someone has to have some pro's and con's to these things. I've heard all the hype about Nitro hulls lately... but i'm looking at late 90's early 2000 model Nitro's.... did they still have that problem? What kind of ranger can I get for that price range? Thanks guys.
  5. I'm usually pretty available on Fridays for all day, or any day after work really. I am usually home by 3. I used to do a lot of night fishing back home, but it's been awhile. I'm ok with anyone man, just want to learn some new stuff, make some friends and of course catch some fish!
  6. Looking for a used bass boat to purchase by this spring. Will have a $8-$10k budget. Want either a ranger or nitro, what I'd like from you guys is to pick them apart. Which would you go for and why? Thanks!
  7. I've got a pretty easy job (make my own hours) so as long as I have a few days notice I can rearrange my days. Jon boats don't bother me a bit and neither do the 4 legged fishing partners.
  8. Haha! Thanks for the advice. Anyone going fishing any time soon wanting a tag a long?
  9. Worth the $100 4 hour rental?
  10. Good looking fish! Well if hillsdale sucks... Looks like it's back to the fishing channel at home
  11. What's hillsdale like? I saw they rent out boats as well.
  12. Hey guys! New to the site. Looks like you all have bun logging some pretty nice bass. I just moved to the area from South East Kansas. I live in Gardner now. I'm looking for someone to fish with up here! I had to sell my boat last year, and I'll be looking to buy one next spring but would like to find some buddy's and get some fishing in to fill the void! I love fishing for fun or competitive. It's always competitive though right? Neither you versus the crowd or you versus the green ones! If anyone is willing to let me tag along in the back of the boat please shoot me a text! I don't care if it's Kansas or Missouri. I'm more than willing to split fuel ( truck and boat) and buy lunch/ dinner. I could tow the rig if needed as well. As of now all I have fished up here is walking the bank at celebration park and rented a boat at Jacomo. Thanks guys, Coty 816-266-2159
  13. I'm hitting Jacomo tomorrow! After reading your thread I probably won't be able to sleep now! Great story!
  14. Hey guys and gals! New member living in Gardner KS. Love bass fishing and I use to fish a lot of tournaments. When my family and I moved here for work unfortunately I had to sell my boat. Now that we are settled in I'm looking to buy another one but until then in looking for a club or boat owning partner to hit some tourneys ( jackpot, buddy bass, anything really.) or just go for fun! If anyone has any info please let me know! Thanks for having me!
