LOL, isn't that the truth. It seems like a one way street when it comes to bass. It's always, where are they at? what are they doing? and what do they want? It's like having a wife, they expect you to be a mind reader.
  2. If your set on going with the power pro, then like many said, 30# would be your best bet. I would recommend backing off on the drag when using crank baits, it may help just a little with keeping them hooked. Otherwise, one rod with Mono (10lb is what I recommend, you may want to go a little heavier due to conditions and size of fish you may encounter in FL, this will help getting depth and help keep the fish buttoned up by giving some stretch on a MH Fast rod). For the other rod, as others have said, 30# braid for spinnerbaits would work well.

Thanks QuakenShake for taking the time to do that, much appreciated and will certainly now give it a shot.

Don't mean to hijack a thread here but didn't feel my question warranted a new one. I would like to throw a ned rig on a baitcaster but from everything I read it is for spinning gear. So I thought why not beef up the hook to say, 3/16 oz (smallest I think I can get away with). That and the trailer (roughly 4.4 grams which is just over an 1/8 oz.) is roughly 5/16 oz, I should be able to throw it on a medium rod (with light tip) with my Curado 50e or Chronarch 50e. Looks good on paper, but is it possible? Does the heavier hook take a way from the action? It obviously affects fall rate which can be key depending on the fish that day. Just looking for others opinions.
  5. Looking at the site, all three "Legend" lines have a few rods with a mod-fast action. Mod-fast is a tweener so to speak between Moderate and Fast. There are a number on this forum that like the Mod fast for fishing spinnerbaits, jigs, crankbaits, among others. Myself, I like the mod-fast for my treble hook baits. I think a lot of guys like the mod-fast for that little extra give it has to help play fish and keep them buttoned up, but still is "fast" enough to get into the back bone of the rod quickly as compared to a true moderate action rod. Hope that makes a little sense. I am sure there is someone who will comment who can explain it better than I can.
  6. I've noticed at my local Cabela's that the fish's eyes seem get a white look to them, almost like they were starting to go blind...best way I can describe it.
  7. Me, I would probably get another MH for spinnerbaits (if you throw them) and heavier T-rigs. MH rods are usually pretty versatile.
  8. I use Suffix 832 in Yellow. I darken the last 4-5 ft with green marker (more for me than the fish).
  9. Got in fine and ordered a new DX 744C HP. And I finally took the plunge and ordered a spool of Tatsu 10lb and 20lb floro. Discounts applied right away when I put things in my cart.
  10. So what does a bag of Gummy worms go for now days and do they come in different sizes?
  11. I've always wanted to change out trebles with single hooks, but my fear is that it would change the action of the crankbait or trap. Is my fear unfounded?
  12. Jig / Soft plastic rod (bc) Soft plastic rod (bc) Spinnerbait rod (bc) Crankbait rod (bc) And a Spinning rod to handle the really light stuff.
  13. I really like the Champions for moving baits, not my first choice for bottom contact baits though. They are well made and balance very well. No experience with the LT's. (sorry just saw you want input from those who have used both.)
  14. Just want to see peoples opinions on what group they would choose...(Some of you may not choose either, your opinions are welcome also.) Need two rods that I have opening's for in my aresenal (because I sold off a few). I need one for a jig rod/Trig rod with total weight ranging between 1/2-5/8, and one rod for senko/t-rigs < 3/8. Reels that I have available to put on these rods are a Chornarch 50E, Curado 50E, and a Curado 200G. Here are my groupings on the two rod brands/models I have decided upon, I have done a lot of research on them, both are highly regarded, so it's time to see what they are all about. Unfortunately, I can only get two and not all four. I am not sure yet what reel I will put on which rod. Group A - Megabass Orachi XX Perfect pitch - Jig/Trig - ALX Deputy - Senko/light Trig Group B - Alx Toadface or Dragger - Jig/Trig - Megabass Orachi EMTF - Senko/light Trig
  15. Green Pumpkin Senko - T-rigged
  16. I look at it this way. Use 1/4 oz jig, plus the trailer (for instance a rage craw, approx 1/4 oz in weight) you are now at +/- 1/2oz. Right in the recommended range. I would not use a 1/2 oz and same trailer, you would be well out of the recommended range.
  17. Well finally, after all this time, I ordered the Diablo Spec R. Unfortunately it will not arrive until early August. Pretty excited to give it a go when I receive it. I want to thank everyone for their input! Planning on pairinga Curado or Chronarch 50e on it.
  18. I understand that. I was not clear enough. I have higher end rods that are pretty light. I know it will not be as light as those, but I don't want something overly heavy. If I can hold a rod that I have access to with similar, maybe not exact, weight, I will at least know if I will enjoy the weight of the fury rod. As far as performance, etc., I will have to buy one to find that out, but I will not buy if it is a overly heavy feeling rod.
  19. I have owned a number of Avids, they are great rods, you will not be disappointed. As .Ghoti, said, they fish a power up from what they are listed as. ie. M = MH (in most other brands).
  20. Someone already mentioned Kistler rods. Myself, I have the Kistler Medium Heavy Fast, rated 3/16 to 7/8oz, handles t-rigs in the weights you refer to amazingly well. The action is just on the slower side of Fast (not moderate by any means)), some anglers prefer it that way.
  21. Is there a "published" weight of the rod? If it is similar to the Savvy, does any one know what the Savvy weighs in whatever model you may have? Trying to get an idea on weight. If I buy, I have to buy sight unseen because no one carries the Dobyns rods in my area. So if I know the relative weight of the rod, I may be able to find other brands that have similar weight and just feel those to get an idea of what I may be getting. Granted, Dobyns doe have some of the best balanced rods out there, so it may not be exactly comparing apples to apples.
  22. Even though other posts above have indicated the correct guides, I did say I would post Dobyns answer back to me, so here it is... The brand name of the guide we are using on the Fury rods are called Sea guides. The are very common guide used on a lot of the rods in the Fury price range. We are using a tangle free guide frame, similar to what we are using on all of our other series of rods. Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks Richard Dobyns Dobyns Rods.
  23. Just started using the Freedom Tackle Hydra Hybrid jig, in the 1/2 oz and 1/4 oz. Check them out at TW.
  24. Unless someone on the forum knows for sure, I ended up dropping an email to Dobyn's asking about the guides on the Fury series. Will post their response when I get it.
