  1. Thanks Jim I will give that a try
  2. Lips, doral fin and anal fin.
  3. Thanks fo rhte kind words. I am still learnin this father/stepfather role. I went from partying every single night and not caring about much just working to pay for alcohol, place to live and my ccar. I drank every single night and did what I wanted when I wanted. Didn't want a gf, I didn't care what girl I hurt in the process. Then I met my gf, stopped drinking, sold my mustang and got a fuel efficient car that she drives and got me a beater, then her son moved in and a few months later she was pregnant. But I would not trade this in for a anything...
  4. LOL actually he got excited when I hooked it and he wanted to reel it in so he did. I never stop him for pics Ill throw the fish back b4 a pic but he gets all excited and askin a million times as I am takin the hook out can we take a pic of this one. So I give him eht fish and I take the pic
  5. Senkos and worms were workin great now nothing.
  6. The one kid is a local we met I helped him with a few baits he was using I don't know how he expected to catch. He listened and he caught 2 that night. Now we fish with him all the time a good kid. My stepson loves fishing. I usually reel in my first bass and he gets to reel in anything after that. We have a lot of fun. But now the fishing is slowing down a lot. Lol yea good thing no tournament was goin on lol
  7. A few pics of what we have pulled out so far these two on live blue gille the kids used. Most of the pics were from a few months ago when water was cooler. Last 2 was 6/6.
  8. Where would you start? What would you use? I usually go about 6pm-8pm We do not have a boat so all our fishing is done on from the bank. 2 months ago we were catchin bass by the weeds, now nothing. If I cast a senko staright out I can get maybe one bass. The kids used a bluegille and got 3 bass all about 4-6' from the bank.
  9. Even the smaller fish are not biting all that much
  10. I have never seen a crawfish in the lake, the fish it sems bass here eat are baby bass, bluegill and what I think are minnows. They are a dark gray to black color and very small.
  11. Matlures? Guess I will have to look into them
  12. My stepson (9 yr old) and I fish almost every night after work. He uses nightcrawlers and geta lot of panfish, I fish Senkos, worms, flukes and other soft plastics and cathc bass usually one punders a few days I caught some up to 3-4lbs. There is this kid we see fishing I tell my stepson he should talk to him (teh 11 yr old), the kids in our neighborhood are lets just say not who I want my kid to be around. He talked to this kid and we seen him on 3 other occasions. Well now they are friends and he started fishin with us. Ok so the story 6-6-06 we go out fishing. They are catching bluegille and other lil fish. This kid is keeping some of them in bait bucket. He then puts one on a hook and we are watching this about 5lbs bass eat the fish but he couldn't hook him. So the both start fishing for panfish. I am fishing for bass with the usual stuff with no luck and then fianlly I caught this My stepson holds the fish I take pics ;D Then the kid puts a fish on again and pulls out this Im like wow ok I want that. I use a Senko bait and nothing. My stepson now wants to use a fish as well. I rig it up and he pulls out a bluegile the size of my hand he wants to use this. Well 5 minutes he pulls this out. So not fair. How can we catch these without using bluegilles? I want to try and get both of them to use artificial but you try telling a kid to use fake stuff and cath lil ones when he can have fun cathing the panfish and then have more fun catching monsters. So yeas I am jealous lol.
  13. I do that every night just about. I fish with my stepson and we met another kid a lil oder then my stepson he now fishes with us alot.
  14. It has been windy last few days I went out. Last night though when the wind calmed down a lil bit I seen some fishing commin up top. Witht he sun just about gone I threw out a Pop R and I caught my one and only fish of the day with it. It wasnt the big topwater explosion I was looking for but it definaly was a good time now if there could have been a few more
  15. The water we fish is pretty open. There is a lot of plants out about 6' from the bank. There are alos huge concrete walls that have pipes that feed the lake from the local canal. The color is stained I guess cause its not crytal clear like it is in the winter/spring time. I use colors from black/red, baby bass, motor oil, greens. When the water was cooler I was catching like 4-5 bass a night (3 hours of fishing) now I am catching 1. When I tried to actually use a weight with a T rigged worm I reeled in a whole lot of grass just about every cast. I was using a small weight not really sure the exact size I had it in my box
  16. Today I used worms, spinners, a crank bait, senkos, and more worms and caught nothing. Then right befor eit was real dark I threw out a pop R and got me a 4 pounder but only that one in 3 hours.
  17. So I have been catching bass in the local lake about 1-3 lbs and a lot more under a pound. Yesterday my kid and his friend caught 2 up to 7lbs, but they used blue gille. I would rather use artificial. What would you suggest? The water has a lot of vegetation and is pretty open for the most part. It is also pretty shallow maybe 10-13' at the deepest. I have been using T rigged plastics weightless, worms, flukes, senkos. The big bass the kids caught were pretty shallow they were about 5-6' from shore and about 4-5' deep. What can I do to get these bigger bass?
  18. I guess I will look into the law then cause them fish caught some really nice bass.
  19. Went fishing last night, have some new topwater. The last few nights I been out the basss have been killin the lil fish and jumping all over. I was set to catch them but I guess it was just too windy they were not jumping at all. Well I attached a Senko and caught a fish in 10 minutes. My step son was catchng a few bluegille and oscar. This lil kid we seen fihing around the area was a there as well (he is a just a few yrs older then my stepson). They start talking this kid catches a blue gille, small one about 6" and puts it on another rod he has. This bass was killing it. Of course now my stepson wants to do that. I tried explaining bluegilles are illegal to use and we will get shiners tomorrow. Well yea ok he dd not listen he goes with the other kid a lil bit from me and they are gettin bites but not catching. Around 8pm the kid throws out a gille the size of my hand and I am thinking this kid is just killin all these poor lil fish and then the water exploded and he pulled up a 7lbs bass. My step son caught a 4.5lbs bass as well. I caught one 14" bass on a senko. I was very jealous.
  20. As with spinner baits what size? Color? Blade color? Blade type? The water this time of year is stained. Thanks
  21. I know they are bass. I was watching one and was throwing a fluke at it and finally he took it. I see them doin this at evenin as sun is just about to set for about 15 minutes straight this happens then it dies.
  22. I use a spining rod/reel. I was casting over head. Never put my thumb on the spool.
  23. Fishing the last few evenings I was catching some bass and I noticed a lot of lil fish jumping. You can see the bass commin up and eating them, splashing the top sometimes, most the time you can just see them through the stained water and barely scrape the surface and all the lil fish scattering. I tried a jitter bug but the hook on the rear keeps getting tangled around the line? Can I use a snap with top water baits? What else can I try? Are there any soft plastics I cna use?
  24. Just as stated above the waters in SE FL are very warm. A month ago we were killin the bass from the shore (no baot ) Now everything has slowed down. I was out this weekend throwing all types of soft plastics. I caught using the Senko and Zoom FLuke. Fishing them very slow and letting them sink to the bottom. The Senko I can cast out very far. Seems the shallow bass are hidden in the weeds. I fished that with the fluke. I cast out let the bait go to the bottom wait 10-15secs and reel in slow twitching the rod, let them go back down wait again and twitch rod with reeling then reel in slack. I was catching on the fall, while it just sat there, on twitches and a few while reeling in.
