Pvc Cranks
Well said Ben. A PVC bait can be built to suspend, just like any balsa or basswood bait. I've made a few and regretted it because if you get them hung up on the bottom or a tree branch and you are without your lure retriever, your bait is history. Suspending baits do just that suspend, and don't return to the top. Jerry

How Would I Put This Together To Mold
Don't use your Mom's pans, that itself is a bad idea. Make the molds in the garage or outside somewhere. The resin stinks and again trouble with Mom, don't even want to go there. Good luck with your baits.

Nice prop baits. I love the wood chopper style. I need to figure out the deep diving aspect of the baits too!

A Couple Of New Baits
The first is a pattern I like from Lure Jensen, my answer to the Delta Craw This one is another try at a gill pattern, gettin' close. These baits were painted 5-4-12, not quite "new", but new to bassresource.

Water Proof Sealant
I use the brush and hang method for my baits. Just brush enough on to make sure the entire bait is covered and then hang. The minor excess ends up on the rear hook hanger and then I just take the dremel wire brush to it and ta da. Done deal.

How Can I Mod These Cranks?
Do they have rattles? Why not just repaint them? Lure manufacturers go through a lot of R&D to get a bait to do what they want, dive like they want and sound like they want. As far as "mods" as you call it, I'd keep them as they are and just paint them the way you want, but if you don't care much about them then you could shave the diving bills and see what happens. You may tighten up the wobble on some and not on the others. Just my .02.

Water Time For Some New Baits......
A friend of mine and I went out to a local pond to give some new baits some water time. I (in the pontoon type tube) hooked up with the first one, a nice 4lb 13oz largie and my friend picked up one a nice 4lb 6oz. on a bait I built for him last summer.
