  1. I would like to be further up north so I could fish for smallmouth and I would like to be on coast so I could fish for Redfish but, for now, I'll have to stick with largemouth. :'( :
  2. 10lbs - Split shot rig worm 7lbs - Excaliber Shallow Fat Free Shad 7lbs - Watermelon/Orange Ekins Jig 7lbs - Watermelon Red 6" Yum Dinger
  3. Yeah, generally when I get a bite on a drop shot rig it just feels like I caught some weeds or something. But when I pull up the line starts going to the side. I think that its just one of those things that you learn to get in tune the more experienced you get.
  4. I feel your pain I've never caught a smallmouth either and I hear so much about how they fight and how agressive they are. I'll catch one.... one of these days. :-/

Welcome to the forum rodbender. 8-)
  6. Instant classic, that was brillant. You need to put a copyright on that one! I personally like to flip more than anything else. Im always trying to become more and more accurate with my pitching and flipping. My next alternative would be finnesse fishing, but the fish don't alway agree with me and I have to change.
  7. That question was easy to answer, one 15 pounder with out a doubt... unless I was in a tournament, then I would take the six 7 pounders.
  8. I can't believe they canceled Basscenter! That isn't cool at all... I thought that Loudmouth was a good show and they canceled it to. But as long as they keep on showing the tournament coverage I ok with it... I guess.
  9. LOL, never really thought of it that way before... maybe that's why it catches so many fish. Love2Fish4Panfish most of the hits do come on the first fall after the cast.
  10. Jay Yelas, Greg Hackney, and Andy Morgan Greatest with a jig
  11. For me, the t-rig is good for throw to specific targets (such as like you said docks). A c-rig is for dragging around and "searching" for structure that you can't see. They both have there place, but I believe the t-rig is much more versatile than the c-rig. If I were you I would just stick with a t-rig because you can't throw the c-rig as close to the cover as a t-rig. That is just my opinion though.
  12. To me, the strike zone has always been how far a bass will go in order to bite your lure.
  13. I've seen bass do this alot in small pond and stuff. They are trying to eat the bugs buzzing around the surface. The way I ended up catching them was throwing a small watermelon ribbon-tail worm rigged wieghtless. I rigged the worm on a spinning rod with 6 or 8 lbs test line. I just kind of swam it along the surface. I've caught alot of fish doing this. They generally aren't the biggest fish in the lake but I would catch a good one every now and again.
  14. I think there is only one way to find out, go out and try it. Just remember what Keith said, use lures with plenty of vibration.
  15. The main thing to me is just keep it as simple as possible. I like Lightninrod's idea about beetlespins and other small and easy to use baits.
  16. Keep on fishing a jig it is, to me, the best big fish catcher there is. That fish you have is actually pretty rare for a jig bite. Congrats. Keep the pics coming.
  17. I think Swindle has become all bark and no bite lately. He is alittle too much of a trash-talker for me and pouts and wines when he loses. Although he can come up with some pretty funny catch-phrases. Clausen is alot more layed back and has a better attitude about things so I am glad that he won. Thanks for the update it trully is a great show.
  18. 1. Lake Guntersville 2. Lake Champlain 3. Lake Amistad
  19. There are several ways you can fish a wacky rig. Rig a senko type worm wieghtless and just let it shimmy down by itself. I also like to shake the rod tip alot giving the worm a quivering action and keeping the worm in the same place. You can also put a nail in the top of the worm and shake the rod tip. I agree with LBH, anglers tend to overwork a wacky rig. Hope this will help a little bit.
  20. Yea, the wind gets the plankton moving, which in turn get baitfish moving, which in turn get bass to moving. This makes it a good idea to always fish windblown banks.
  21. Good job Nick! Way to represent.
  22. Any soft plastics that don't have alot of appendages and wings and things like that are great for skipping. The easiest things to do is use spinning equipment so you won't get any backlashes. All you do to make the cast is keep you rod tip close to the water during the whole swing. It can be frustating at first but it just takes some practice.

Amen! You said it man. I am a tournament fisherman and a member of BASS (proud member). I enjoy tournament fishing and sometimes let it take control of my life..... I like what you said. Sometimes we all need a reality check. :-[
  24. I know exactly what you mean. Welcome to the forum.
  25. Nice to meet you, welcome to the forum. 8-)
